The Room Exchange moved to Carrollwood, a fraction of a mile from me. I made an appt to take in some decorator items I was still storing. The staff was terrific those few weeks ago when I took the items in, accepting everything I had taken them. Guess what? Yesterday I received a check for the items, each itemized with what I was being paid.... looks like everything sold. Room Exchange, you all ROCK! Every now and then on my visits to Ybor city, I like to step foot in this store and take a look at their merchandise. It usually smells of clean burning fragrant incense in here (or it could just be the merchandise). Almost all of their products hail from Southeast Asia directly. They have a wide assortment of incense scents(and accessories) to choose from, furniture, artifacts, jewelry, etc. The store is kept very organized every time I visit. The overhead music is a relatively unique and pleasant. Every now and then, they throw worldbeat style into the mix. The prices are a bit higher due to the fact that everything is an import. However, it's worth the price if you are willing to pay for the authenticity and quality. They do have more affordable and even clearance items too. For example, simple stuff like incense and their holders, etc. There's usually a friendly shopkeeper at the checkout counter willing to answer your questions. Whether or not I buy anything here, it's always a pleasure just to browse through their stuff. It's like I'm window-shopping through an ancient silk road market.

We were shopping for beds and taking several minutes trying them out. After showing us a few mattresses, we weren't finding any that we loved. All of a sudden, the salesman stated "Ok, bye, have a good one" in a totally dismissive manner. He did not say this in a friendly tone and immediately walked away from us and sat down at a desk, completely ignoring us until we left the store. My wife and I were very confused by his behavior since we had been friendly toward him during the entire visit. His statement was extremely sudden, rude, and out-of-line, ending any chance of us purchasing a bed there. I don't write many reviews but wanted to share the experience we had. We will never go back to this store and don't recommend it to anyone. I selected one star for the review of this business but it deserves a zero.
