I was introduced to Val's today....funny, I've been right around here (2 buildings down) multiple times and never knew it was here (my bad). I wasn't looking...or for anything in particular. But I really enjoyed perusing through, they have some very fun stuff! LOTS and lots of stuff. Variety for everything indoors and out! From artificial plants and flowers to some decorative small, hall tables... to many wall hangings and table decorations, holiday/seasonal items, planters (some very large) and so much more. There were some very blingy things too, which caught my eye immediately and I gawked LOL. I wanted to look around and get some ideas, maybe for a room I want to add to or modify a look... Definitely will keep this place in mind for the future. read more

I used to Love this place but it's under new owners now and everything has changed.The owner is not flexible in any way. Does not treat his customers with respect or care if they return. I spent there these couple of weeks like over 900.00 for my daughters wedding and got 1 stupid candle as a thank you. no black Friday deals no coupons no discounts NOTHING. and if you like anything on the tree it's not available and you are not allowed to take it off the tree. This guy and his new employee COTY have no education for dealing with the publc. prices are Medium high to High in comparison to other store. I am very disappointed and sad this used to be one of my favorite stores and as of today my friend and I will no longer return. read more

This place is one of Tampas Hidden gems. It has lovely silk flowers all year long but for the Holidays it turns into the most affordable tree decor I have found locally. They have a wide variety of picks and flowers to add to your tree or just to make a nice arrangement or wreath I love this place and my wallet hates it. read more

I spent over $500.00 dollars at Val's on Christmas decor this year. Three decorative "sticks" at $2.97 each didn't work and I went to return them today (on 12/17 after purchasing them 10 days before on 12/7). They were in their original packaging, were never removed and I had the receipt which totaled under $10.00! I asked to exchange them for 2 candles of equal value. They said NO!! That in spite of ALL THAT, and me being a loyal customer for years, they would not accept the exchange. I just bought the candles and left them their decorative sticks, asking them to give them to someone that can use them. Great way to lose a customer. "Penny wise and pound foolish" as my grandmother would have said. Management is absent of critical thinking abilities apparently. Will go out of my way to get home decor at other places now. read more

So happy I finally stopped in here. I immediately loved while entering. I've passed by this place sooo many times but never really knew what it was. There's so many different decor options, plants, planters, wall art, mirrors Christmas decorations etc etc. certain items seem to be priced a little higher than hoping for but still reasonalble (figure it's due to economy, everything is up$) overall I loved visiting and will return again soon to finish decorating my business suite. Def a 4.5 just wish they had small furniture or ottomans. read more

Oh, this was fun! I've driven by this place so many times. Friday, I finally had time to stop-and now it will be a destination in and of itself. If you love throwing parties like I do, and are looking for props to back up the theme , you can find all sorts of fun items here. From Mardi Gras Christmas trees to guitar wall/hangings, you'll find aisles and piles of fun here. I have a feeling that it changes with the seasons. I can't wait to find out! read more

If you're into home decor/plants...I've been thrifting for planters/pots & this has been by far a jackpot for me on my first visit here! For just a 6" pot it was around $10-$15? That's such a steal considering nice pots like the ones I saw during my visit are sold for $70-100 for their size online at big store companies. I bought like 6 pots! And the man at the cashier helped me wrap up all of them in newspaper and helped me carry out the pots even though I parked in front. Super sweet people. I texted my friend about the amount of nice planters I saw at this location & she told me she's been going to this location since she was in high school! I'm glad I went here to check it out. read more

This the best home deco store I been to in Tampa. I have pass by this place many time. I saw other Yelper posted pictures are nice. I have decided to stop by to check them out. The outward of the store is not the most attractive. However the goods they carry in the store are very good ideal for home interior design decorations. The interior designer may need to pay attention to this store if they helping their client for the room decorations. It also can be use for hotel, restaurant, or business to decorate their building. The Christmas decorations is huge here. Many items were displayed for the season. Angel, trees, big red ribbons, cross, rain deer and frosty man. Other regular items l like like slogans for homes. Been coming here for years, my holiday / celebration "go-to". Stopped by to fill up on my annual Gasparilla gear... hardly anything in stock. The isles bursting with color and ideas, gone, today greeted by unimaginative, sparsely stocked or bare shelving. What remains available horribly sterile compared to what we're accustomed to; the pots outside black, grey, drab. One bunch of beads, two black wreaths and some gaudy prefabs in the front. Just a disappointing - if not traumatizing experience - all the way around! To my horror learned from a clerk, the new "layout" and sparse decorations 100% intentional has left me simply heartbroken. I dropped serious $$$ here every year on my home and holiday decor; We won't be back! read more

Shopping at Val's is like shopping in a treasure chest - you just never know what cool treat you might find. I have been here many times over the years, and it's rare that I can walk out without purchasing something. My most recent visit I was checking out their Halloween merchandise. They have Halloween wall plaques, yard decorations, signs, statues, lights, décor, etc. If it is made for Halloween (other than costumes or candy) - they have it. I bought the cutest little witch, skeleton, black cat, and pumpkin matching statues for $6 each. They already have some of their fall and Christmas décor available right now as well. Once Thanksgiving is past, they will kick it into high gear and have an enormous amount of Christmas decorations, trees, lights, garlands, wreaths, etc. One thing I love about Val's is that in addition to offering ingredients you need to make your own decorations, with an emphasis on fake plants, flowers, and foliage, they also have plenty of ready-made unique items available for purchase at really inexpensive prices. Season round, they have aisles and aisles of items used for decorating a house, porch, or yard: wall hangings, sconces, boxes, plant holders, mirrors, trunks, vases, etc. True story - I was in a garden store in Birmingham, AL, and fell in love with this little garden turtle statue. I bought it for approx. $10, then had to lug it back to Tampa. Saw it in Val's for $5. Great prices, excellent selection, and unique items - when decorating, go to Val's first! read more

Love love love this store! It is like a Home Goods times 500. It is a warehouse so it can be feel a bit warm at times. There are home decorations like crazy like fancy mirrors, metal decorations, paintings, vases, flowers, holiday decorations, garden decs, & much more. I was in search of a picnic basket. Not just any picnic basket, but a special one with enough room inside for a bottle of wine, a couple of bottles of water, carryout containers of food, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, serving utensils, bug spray, suntan lotion, hand sanitizer, and anything else that I forgot. I had already scoured the big box home stores, and the fancy-schmancy cookware stores, but didn't see anything that I liked. A friend of mine recommended that I take a look in Val's and sure enough they had exactly what I was looking for, and it was a marked-down factory second! YAY!!! You'll find Val's along Gunn Highway, just after the traffic light at Linebaugh Avenue, and before you go under the Dale Mabry Highway overpass and the road changes names to Busch Boulevard. Val's seems to have every conceivable type of home decorating idea under one roof, and it was a bit intimidating to walk through their front doors. Thankfully a very kind sales lady recognized the look of sheer terror in my eyes, and she helped me find the aisle with all of their baskets, and then helped me dig around to find just the right one. After I had the basket safely tucked away behind her register, I wandered around the store and gaped at the massive selection of artificial plants, containers, lawn furniture, crafts and decorating stuff, and a gigantic selection of Halloween holiday decorations. This is the place to come if you want to buy a bevy of smoking cauldrons, dancing skeletons, flying witches, animated black cats, funky tombstones, spider webs, and so on. Every conceivable decoration for tricking out your house, and scaring all the neighbors! The lady said that I should come back during the Christmas Holiday season to see all the artificial trees, wreaths, lights, holly, ribbons & wrapping paper, and carefully-themed figurines and lawn ornaments so that you'll win the most-awesome decorated house-on-your-block award. This is not the type of store that I would frequent, though my ex-wife would have done some serious damage to the VISA if she had ever known about this place! I suspect that Val's would be a popular place for the ladies and resident interior decorators to do their home décor shopping. In my case, I was just happy that they had a picnic basket. Why 5 stars? Because they had exactly what I needed. --- --- --- This is a brief review, because I only visited Val's once, and was only there for less than 10 minutes, but I did make a purchase, and it was one I had been seeking for a while. I was hoping to score a couple of very large pots for a couple of palm trees, that I could put in my back yard. I always love the giant pots you find at places like the sidewalks of Downtown St. Pete, so I wasn't necessarily in the market for just your average-sized pots. After a long, and unsuccessful search, my contractor told me about Val's. I headed over there, and although they weren't quite as large as the ones I had in my mind, they were by far the best that I'd come across. I quickly went inside purchased two, and was on the phone with the landscaping company the next day to bring me some palms! My experience at Val's was very minimal, but they came through in the clutch for me! read more

This is a cool place. If your looking for anything for your house they will probably have it here. Tons of trinkets wall decor furniture ect. I have lived here my entire life and never been here, one day about a month ago I was out just driving with no place in mind to go and I decided to stop in here. Low prices and many varied selections, fair amount of storage type furniture. They even had Gasparilla items earlier this year. I had to get this pretty baby home. Massive richly colored jewel-toned mosaic plate perched perfectly in front of the unused fireplace. It's incredibly beautiful and fits right at home. There's more than just baskets at Val's. When we decided to redecorate our house, Val's was a source of great ideas. They have all sorts of stuff and knick knacks (I believe that's the technical term). We found a beautiful three ply metal screen to use as decoration out by our pool. There were also some beautiful pots to put the fake plants we bought at Silk Gardens. This place is a treasure trove of great ideas to spruce up your house. If redecorating is in your future, give this place a shot. I think it's as good as it gets. read more

This place is a thrifty home decorator's paradise. I was recommended to visit Val's by my boss, a business owner also in Carrollwood. I drive by practically everyday and I am such a sucker for good deals... so naturally, I thought the store was great! So many cute things and at affordable prices. Very seasonal - if you need holiday crafting stuff and decorating items, this is your place. I found a gift for a friend for only eight bucks and got a lot of ideas for DIY projects in the future. Finally decided to visit this place after driving by all the time. This place pleasantly surprised me it has a lot of cool things to decorate the house. Many different cultural decorations for any themed room from Asian, African, Irish etc.... They also have color coded vases and fixtures to fit any vision. There are many flower arrangements as well to decorate an event or change your rooms to fit each season. I wasn't in the market to update my decorations but when I do I know where to come. The prices were also very reasonable and they had really cool mirrors as well. I was surprised to know their smaller decorative mirrors were as little as 9.95 and seemed not as cheap looking and flimsy as something in ikea. I must say I love love this place. The price here is great. I live walking distance to Val's and accidentally walked into it last Christmas season. They have every thing needed to decorate your place and give it that unique and special touch all for a reasonable price. During Xmas time sample trees are available providing great ideas oh ways to decorate your tree. If you want an even better deal purchase seasonal items after the season. I already have this yrs Xmas decor purchase from January. The staff is super friendly and great help. I only have good things to say about this place. The only disclaimer to Val's I that if you see an item you like today, don't wait for tomorrow cause once it's sold you may never get a chance to buy the same item again. Val's has been in the same location on the Northeast side of Gunn Hwy., between Busch Blvd. & Linebaugh Ave. When they first started out over 10 years ago the store was comprised mainly of baskets. Baskets of all sizes, materials, shapes & origins. Today Val's to chock full of pottery, unique signs, wall decor, knick knacks, furniture and about anything you might be able to imagine. Walking leisurely through the store you can get lost in your own ideas of how a certain piece could transform one of your rooms. I also get some great decorating ideas from just 1 particular item I may find. It is a trove of treasures and some junk. They are very big on any holiday's & you can easily find more than you want in Easter, Christmas or any holiday fixtures, extras, string up, & assorted items. Currently they are quite full of Tampa's own Gasparilla parifenallia and probably have anything you may desire. I have been a loyal cut omer for years, but don't feel the need to visit as often as I used to. My favorite time to shop at Val's is right after a holiday. They always have a close out sale & you can pick up many assorted items for half price, as is the norm with most stores after a major holiday. Val's is quite clutter with a wide array of items, but if you keep an eagle eye, you will never leave empty handed. What's a girl to do? I've been shopping here for many years for unique and simply usable items. This last shopping spree I was looking for wedding items for my son's wedding. They have a ton of wedding decor in so many colors. Lucky for me the silver metallic was in season and in stock. I priced online for similar items and found Val's had better prices, and I could touch the item! I've also purchased incredible large urns and pots for my plants.
