The owner Bert Driver was very friendly and welcoming . He allowed us to sample the beers from Calfkiller Brewing and Theoretic Ales . Bert was knowledgable about the beers and a very enjoyable person . There were 4 of us so there were several opinions of the beers . The guys liked all of the beers one of the favorites was the CalfKiller Ole-Evil-AssDevil Ale, Another one well liked was Theoretical Goat Love . There weren't any that we didn't like just some better than others .... Bert was very accommodating and allowed us to enjoy our picnic lunch on his outside porch . Recommend this place if your in the Smithville area . We will for sure be back .

It's limited service (just beer and plants), but clean, friendly, lovely, and relaxing! Good selection of local Calfkiller and Von Seitz beer on our visit. There are food trucks sometimes but not when we were there. *They could stand to pick up one cider or a couple of wines for those of us who can't handle gluten. (Pro tip: bring your own!)

On the hunt for a fast casual dinner with a party of 8, I made a quick call to Altona Burger & Beer…read moreGarden to see if they could accommodate our group on a recent Friday night. Sure enough, they said yes and within 20 minutes we found ourselves in line ordering from their diverse menu and finding plenty of seating on their outdoor patio. Our group included two moms and six teenagers. We ordered a little of everything on the menu (burgers, chicken sandwiches, salmon, sweet potato fries, regular fries, truffle fries, mac & cheese, and vegetables. Everyone was happy with their orders and no one went home hungry that night. We found the employees to be friendly and the prices to be very fair as well. There is plenty of parking and it was a location that worked well for us. I wouldn't typically give a fast casual spot like this five stars, but it really delivered on everything we were looking for that evening. Thanks AB&BG!

Just another thin patty tossed on another bun... uninspired and not truly note worthy. Little flavor and little creativity. Service was ok... you walk up to the counter order and they bring it when it is done. Nothing to brag about. There is outdoor seating if you like... that area is nice. Overall just a middle of the road burger.

Schulz Brau had the whole ambience down, a beer hall that transports you to Germany. A wide inviting hall with share tables or more private tables if you don't want to be too social. You order your drinks at the bar and then order your food from the kitchen area outside. Their menu consists of German classics and also different pizzas for the less adventurous. My family got a variety of things. We got the bratwurst for our 9 year old with a side of seasoned fries. The curry wurst fries and the wiener style schnitzel with spatzle and German cucumber salad. We also had to get a pretzel because why not? The food took a little bit to come out which was understandable. In the meantime my husband and I each got a beer. The beers were fantastic. When we got our food it all was really good and came out fresh and hot. The curry wurst fries were great. The curry wasn't spicy it was more creamy with great subtle flavor on top of the crispy fries and the charred brats. The weiner style schnitzel, surprised me with how much I liked it. The light breading on the pork was nice and crispy and the lingonberry jam and lemon slice added a nice refreshing touch. The spatzle was good with the cheese sauce over it. For me the cucumber salad was the only thing I had that wasn't super good. The cucumber was fresh and the dressing on it light but it wasn't my favorite. I loved their pretzel with the cheese dip that was a mixture of Brie and cream cheese with some spices. Everything just really came out well made and tasted good. We definitely want to come back and try more things. It seems like a great place to come catch up with friends and hang with your family. It is a little loud but that is to be expected with the open hall style. Overall it was a really fun time and worth coming to check out their beer and food.

The first one we stopped at was just outside of the downtown area. Very cool spot with an outdoor area. Ate there as well, and food was really good. That evening we went to the one downtown, near our hotel, and it was a really nice space. They call it the Greenhouse, and you can see why, tons of hanging plants. They don't allow children after a certain time, which we arrived just after, but they were cool about us coming in with my 8yo. Great beer, great food, great space, and great staff.

The interior is kind of like a Yuppy-esque gastropub meets industrial-chic. It works, for the most part. EVERYTHING is self service, from food/drink orders to bussing your own tables. I think this helps keep the costs reasonable. The food was eclectic and excellent - I cannot say enough about how amazing their chips (fries) are. They're super crispy, yet moist in the middle and they really hold up well to any kind of sauce. Their super crispy rest of the menu was tasty also - from their options for a smash burger all the way down to Thai tacos. I think that there is something for everyone and the best part is how dog-friendly Oddstory is. I think it's a keeper for my occasional list, but not a go-to for me as a regular. I'd suggest you make a visit and choose for yourself - regular or occasional.
