Naked river sits across the street from a college. So we were able to park in the parking lot behind the brewery was completely full and required payment. Walking in , you could see a long bar that you could sit at or just order food at in a designated area and seat yourself around the place. We chose to set up the bar, of course. It kind of ended up being a bad idea because people had no idea about personal boundaries and being in other people's face while they're enjoying their beers and they are standing around ordering food and reaching over you. Ben and I even switch seats, because he is worried about his personal space then I am. Most of the food that was on the menu was barbecue driven but since I had just had poke, I was not hungry. First an apology, when I get a carry-out order, I never offer pics, it just isn't fair to the establishment. So sorry about that folks. So, as I was told by the staff, the restaurant portion has been spun off and sold from the brewery itself, so this is my first visit for food, since that has transpired. It is now known as "BUDS & BREWS CHATTANOOGA", part of a larger group out of Nashville, I was told. The bar/brewery looks the same, there is the same helpful staff, but in all honesty, the food just isn't as good. The pulled pork, was okay at best, the fried onion rings, just too greasy, and the chicken wings, just too dry. When first opened NR was the first microbrewery to prepare and offer their own food, and the bbq was stellar, but I cannot make that same statement today. Brews are still good, but if need a good microbrewery in Chattanooga that can offer you good food to go along with that cold one, my recommendation is either Oddstory or Five Wits. I'll continue to come to NR for a beer, as their Moonpie Stout is absolutely one of the best beers you can find in Chattanooga, but like I said if I am hungry too, this will no longer be one of my primary spots to consider. read more

Naked River Brewery seemed a little disorganized when we went, I guess there there may have been some sort of disconnect from the restaurant to the brewery. We had originally gone to get food, and of course beer. When we got there the food options were different than what we had originally thought (bbq). We decided to wait for the next place to get food. The beer was still good. I wanted to order a flight, but somewhere in the disconnect the flight boards were lost. We also couldn't believe we had to pay to park in their private parking lot. Even living in nashville we dont have to pay for a lot connected to a brewery. Great brewery in a super cool old building. Great outdoor space for the dogs to come. It was raining so they allowed our friends to bring their service dog inside without issue. Beer was really good. First this is focused on lack of customer service. A few weeks ago we started looking for a place to host about 35 people for a rehearsal dinner. Our friends had used Naked River to hold their event a year ago and thought it was pretty good. They did say they had difficulty in finalizing it because the company was not very responsive. Well, we tried anyway and we had a similar problem. After many unanswered phone calls to ask about having and event there, we decided to just visit the restaurant and talk to someone in person. We met Christian, who was working behind the bar, he was very friendly and helpful when we explained what we wanted to do. He was not in charge of that area but he answered all of our questions. He let us look at the area where we would have the event and gave us an overview of what they could do. Since he wasn't in charge, he did not know if the date was available and he gave us Rachel's email and suggested we contact her, which we did via email. Thanks, but no thanks - After meeting with Christian, we emailed her and she said she was out of the office until Friday. She said that the time and date was on hold but she would let us know when she got back and also we might be able to do a different time on the same day. We did not hear back from her on Friday so we emailed her on Friday and again on Monday. When she did respond, she said the party she held it for confirmed and asked if we wanted a different day. Quite honestly, we were surprised they would hold an event date for over a week without some type of commitment. We offered to pay up front because we needed to find a place soon but she wouldn't do that. Anyway, to make a long story short, communications and customer service was terrible. We even followed up with an email asking if another time the same day would work but she never responded. We liked the location and had been to the restaurant before. I doubt I will go back again after experience their customer service. In our opinion, her lack of follow-up indicated she did not really care enough to try to work something out with us. Bottom line - It was a great location and reasonably priced but as a word of caution, if you want to do a venue there, they will not make it easy. Our experience is emailing is not very effective and calling is a waste of time, you need to go in person and if you are lucky the person in charge of renting the space will be there. read more

I was impressed. This was a great local brewery and bbq. Many styles of beer to choose from. A somewhat limited but very good food menu. I did the pulled pork tray and my friend the brisket tray. Pulled pork was tasty. My friend said the brisket was juicy and that you can tell it was slow cooked. Two sauces to choose from, one being the southern white sauce. I'm not from here so the old fashioned ketchup based worked just fine for me. The building is an old trolley barn from the 1800's. It is claimed to be one of the oldest buildings in town. Outside is a fake grass patio for patrons with dogs to enjoy. The restaurant is located across the street from the football stadium and there is a park behind with various outdoor activities happening. A good option when in the area. read more

Coming in before a CFC game I was excited to try some new beers. Sadly I did not get to do that. Make note that they will not do beer flights at random times. I came to try the beers and the difference in flight vs individual 5oz pours was 50% more. The reason we were given is that they don't have enough glasses to serve them. We needed a quick lunch in Chattanooga and wanted something that offered BBQ. My husband picked it based on Yelp reviews and I was sold as soon as I saw the menu. We were there quite early for lunch due to our schedule with some planned activities in early afternoon. They serve a number of beers and ciders - I wasn't drinking that day but my husband and stepson were both happy with their choices. The pretzel bites and pork rinds were solid appetizers - and at a reasonable price. I was lured in by the May grilled cheese special - hot wing grilled cheese. It was amazing and on perfectly grilled fresh sourdough bread. I ate the whole thing! My stepson got the adult grilled cheese with pulled pork, which was very similar and he loved it as well. My husband got the Tuesday taco special, 3 tacos and a side for $11. He got burnt ends, sausage and chicken - they were small but full of meat and flavorful. All of the prices were reasonable, the food was great and the service was top notch. They had a large outdoor seating area but it was so hot that everyone was inside when we were there. It had a cool vibe and is a great place for a meal or to meet up with friends for drinks. I would definitely go again if we are back in the Chattanooga area. read more

This place has so much potential. The venue itself is great, but the service was very disappointing. They were out of a lot of food and beer. When we ordered something they were out of, it took them a while to let us know and there was no apology from the server. Also, I specifically ordered fries and when my burger arrived there were no fries. The server said she didn't order me fries bc it didn't come with the burger and then asked if I still wanted them and I said yes. I never got my fries. We had to ask three times to get waters and had to order drinks from inside even though we were told we would have a server outside but waited over ten mins. There's parking in back but I'm sure it's a zoo on weekends and during games. The brewery has a fairly large open space with a long bar that acts as the taproom shared with the brewhouse - there are various seating options and a patio out front. I got here for a late lunch and there were about 7-8 tables occupied plus a few people at the bar. I met my niece and nephew here who live locally and upon their recommendation. We ordered some pulled-port nachos to share. I ordered a two meat BBQ option that included a half-slab of ribs and the beef brisket. I thought the ribs good but of course I've had better - the real star was the brisket - juicy, smokey and too good - next time I'll just have a big plate of that. For sides I had the mac-and-cheese and collards - both were good and very satisfying and a cut-above what you might find at many BBQ joints. For beer I tried a flight plus: * Sticky Parts NEIPA 4/5 - Competently made Starr NEIPA with notes of citrus, finishing hoppy and slightly sweet. Just an easy drinker, pretty slammable. * Double Slap DIPA 3/5 - Fairly tasteless Double IPA, was expecting more of a Westy, very little punch to this. * BA Midnight Fuggles Stout 3.7/5 - Another underwhelming BA stout - not sure what the apricot barrel was supposed to provide, mostly a boozy hit. * Moon Base Stout 4/5 - Smooth, sweet malty backbone, notes of chocolate, caramel and graham cracker, a classic moon pie. Needs to be sweeter but otherwise competently made. * BA Moon Base Stout 3.8/5 - While the Moon Pie base beer is somewhat interesting, aging in an apricot barrel only added a boozy finish, really this beer needs to be intensified and sweetened to make it worthwhile. * BA Docks Brown 3.5/5 - Somewhat underwhelming, the barrel adds some booziness but none of the intensity you would expect. * Mangalorian 3.8/5 - Light easy drinker with fruity mango in a wheat base, somewhat sweet, I was wishing for some sourness to punch things up. * Bears, Beets, Black IPA 4/5 - Nice sweet roasted malt backbone with coffee notes, well balanced hoppy finish and amazing lacing. Quite nice for this style. Service was exceptional with very attentive server who readily offered suggestions on the beer. I thought the beer in general could use a bit "more" but this may be what the locals are looking for so no judgements. In all a great experience! read more

I love this patio! They have picnic tables with umbrellas, it's turf, dogs are allowed (and they even have poop bags) and there's cornhole boards! This is super convenient to the stadium-I imagine a great spot when there's UTC games going on. The bar inside was pretty dark, definitely dive bar vibes. Very cool spot. We just had a pitcher of beers, pretzel bites and I had a ranch water. I really enjoyed the pretzel bites!! Super fun vibes! Stopped in on Sunday in the early afternoon, came inside and waited at the host stand to be seated, there was already a couple of groups of people waiting and a lot of available tables. After a few minutes without seeing a host, we decided to seat ourselves at the bar. We saw at least 3 employees behind the bar and we were not greeted or helped. After close to 8 minutes we were handed a menu without a word from someone walking by, reviewed it and waited another 8-10 minutes without catching someone and ended up leaving without ordering. I played trivia here for the first time last night. Also had a BBQ and brisket plate with sides. Wasn't terribly impressed with the brisket as I didn't find it had a lot of flavor and it was dry. Nice to see they had a rotating cider on tap though I didn't have any. I'd definitely come here again and try different food. I don't know if Sunday is just NOT the day to come or what. We had the worst food here for lunch today. Our server was great, so sweet and on top of things. But the food, oh Lord the food. This BBQ was terrible. My husband got the rib special that said it came with a full rack. If this is a full rack, I've been lied to my entire life. It was almost like they cut a half rack in half so they could call it a full. If they had been the best ribs ever maybe this was forgivable, but alas they were so dry it was like eating jerky. The brisket was also dry and chewy. The two stars is for the pulled chicken sandwich which had no promised pickles and although also dry, was not terrible when smothered in sauce. So.. more than a year ago I posted a review of Naked River which indicated I really loved this brewery. As of July 3rd, my viewpoint definitely changed after taking out of town guests. This brewery has become nothing more than a walk up bar with food less than average now. The new management decided to do away with any form customer service and they removed several good menu items -- without changing the prices (of course). It's a very disappointing experience now. If you're willing to do all your own work just to get a beer and some average bar food, this might make it. But I can purchase a great six pack and a nice pizza to enjoy at my home for the same service -- all while saving money. read more

I called today and asked if the they were fully functioning after having the kitchen closed during COVID. They said everything was good and the kitchen closed at 8:30. We arrived at 6:30 and stood at the "Wait to be Seated" sign. And we waited and we waited. We weren't even acknowledged for over 10 minutes. The place was 50% empty. There were people at the bar and people on the patio. Finally one of 3 people people behind the bar looks at us and says "we are busy we will get to you when we can." Came here two years ago and had a nice lunch so thought we'd try again this year. Ordered a couple brews which both were good. Then got the 4 meat platter including ribs, brisket ($5 surcharge), sausage and pulled pork. The ribs have a nice thick bark from the dry rub which is ver flavorful, but we're over cooked and the meat was quite dry. A real disappointment as the seasoning was nice. The brisket was a smallish portion and flavorful but tough. Definitely not Texas brisket quality based on my experience. The pulled pork and sausage were good but not exceptional. The cheese rolls were a bit stale and bland. Other sides were good. Especially the beans. Bill for lunch for 2 with a couple Beers was $60. Granted it was a lot of food and very filling, but the quality was not 5 or even 4 stars. Hopefully it was just a bad day for the pit master (it was Saturday) but it wasn't excellent as I'd remembered from 2020. read more

What a great breweries! We came here for lunch on Sunday and it was perfect. Their beer selection is excellent- the perfect combination of choice yet not too over the top. We decided to stay for lunch and ordered the pork rinds and slider sampler. You MUST try the Jackfruit slider. It was my fave of the five sliders we tried. The pickled onions were an added bonus as well. Our server was awesome with plenty of good advice on where to visit and suggestions for other places to try. We'll be back for sure! They seem like a good bunch working in the kitchen but the hygiene isn't awesome.
