I had such a great time here! I came all the way from California to check this place out and I'm glad I did. I was able to feed giraffe, a lemur sat in my lap, touched a penguin (wish they would have let us feed one during the paid add-on meet and greet), pet and fed a rhino, tossed snacks to a pygmy hippo, and more! I've always wanted to be up close to a rhino and that add-on experience was worth my trip out there. The animals all looked as happy as could be in a zoo, the enclosures were well maintained, and everyone visiting seemed to be very respectful of the animals as well. Plus there's free drink stations (soda, powerade, water, etc) & you can pop into the office for snacks in case they are needed. Definitely the highlight of my year so far! read more

I've visited a lot of zoos and wildlife parks over the years, but Tanganyika Wildlife Park is in a category all its own. I spent the day participating in several premium animal encounters, and every one of them exceeded my expectations. Feeding a white tiger from just a few feet away, petting and feeding endangered white rhinos, interacting with giraffes, hand-feeding a ring-tailed lemur, and being surrounded by colorful lorikeets created memories I'll never forget. What impressed me even more than the animal encounters was the staff. Every keeper we met was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the animals in their care. They took time to answer questions, explain each animal's personality, and share the park's conservation efforts, including participation in breeding programs that help protect endangered species and maintain healthy genetic diversity. The park itself is exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. Even with the close animal interactions, I never felt rushed or unsafe. Everything was organized, professional, and clearly focused on both visitor experience and animal welfare. As a travel writer and photographer, I also appreciated how photogenic the park is. There are incredible opportunities to capture beautiful wildlife images while creating unforgettable memories. If you're visiting Wichita--or even planning a Kansas road trip--I highly recommend setting aside an entire day for Tanganyika Wildlife Park. If your budget allows, book the premium encounters. Tanganyika Wildlife Park was one of the highlights of our Wichita trip! If you love animal encounters, this place is so much fun. We fed turtles, kangaroos, giraffes, lemurs, and even tossed carrots to the hippos. The private lemur encounter was definitely my favorite part. I loved how interactive everything was--you aren't just walking around looking at animals from a distance. I loved taking my children to this zoo when it was affordable to do so. Since they changed the pricing to make it "all inclusive" it is not worth going. For a single day paying over $100 a person is just insane. It is no longer family friendly for those who work on a budget. It is not Disney Land yet the pricing is almost just as expensive. What a wonderful day. We were lucky to go on a weekday after local schools had started so it wasn't crowded at all. The park is so clean and everyone is very friendly. Feedings and included experiences are open for 1/2 hour and even though the park seems big, it's easy to get around so you can do all the things. Don't miss the lemur feeding and petting the kangaroos. The kangaroos are so soft and they like belly rubs. Our package included as much food as we wanted. Breakfast biscuits were good but OMG, the waffle was fantastic. They serve Coke products and you help yourself. Lunch was alright and the fries are great but I suggest filling up on breakfast. And the warm cookies are grab and go. We didn't bother with the included beer and wine, but I'm sure some people took advantage. read more

We did the Ultimate Weekend package and loved every minute of it! It's not just an animal park - they do a lot of work for conservation and take the time to teach people about it on every animal experience. Everything about this place is amazing. They have a wonderful group of people who work there - starting with Rachel who answered a million questions for us and helped plan the entire weekend. Every single person we met looked like they loved their job and sharing the experience from the first person we met (Aurora at check in) to all of the animal experience and feeding station people (Olivia, Ella, Maddie, Caelin, Taylor, Rayna and so many more!) and the last person we saw in the gift shop on our way out (Alivia). The entire experience was perfect. Wish we lived closer to go more often but really happy we were able to make the trip! read more

It includes admission, breakfast, lunch, several animal feedings, and a few animal encounters. We had breakfast at our hotel, so we started our visit with an animal encounter with a capybara. This cost extra but was well worth it. It was fantastic. I had never fed or pet a capybara before, but I have now. We had lemur monkeys sit on our lap and eat out of our hands (included), I fed a rhino (also included), we both fed a Pygmy Hippo (included), and we got to see a ton of wild animals that all seemed to be very well cared for. Did I mention we saw the world famous "Mars" the baby Pygmy Hippo? We did! This is hands down the best wild animal park we have ever visited. The keepers at Tanganyika were amazing and very knowledgeable about the animal. The animal experiences were very fun, unique and memorable. The only downside was the price, this zoo is very small for the price that is charged for entry. I understand animal conservation is expensive, however it was almost $1000 for two of us, including two animal encounters, and that was not enough to keep us busy for the full day. We walked the entire zoo grounds (the areas open to the public) in about 20 minutes and each animal encounter was about 30 minute. Amazing experience but wish it would have been half the price for the amount of time we spent there. read more

It was a beautiful place with very friendly workers and intimate experiences with animals. My reason for the 4 stars is two: there is virtually no difference between the VIP and day pass tickets. All you had to do was stand near the VIP people and you could do the same things they did (I booked day pass with two special experiences) while my in-laws booked VIP. My second issue was that after I paid for those two special experiences I got a text offering me special experiences for 50% off. Thats pretty uncool. Our day was fabulous!! I have been following this place on social media for two years and we were finally able to make the 8hr drive to visit. I absolutely love penguins and from the moment I saw they had the swim with penguins option- I had to sign my daughter and I up. Was it a very expensive day- absolutely- but we feel it was totally worth! This is as interactive I will have the chance to be with penguins and it was magical! Having an all day inclusive pass was so nice instead of having to constantly pay for each experience, drink or food. The food was great and having so many animal encounters included was perfect- my husband was so excited to pet the kangaroos! My wife had the day off on July 3rd and then I decided to see if I can get that day off and then asked her if she wanted to go to Tanganyika Wildlife Park. I saw this on a Facebook ad and decided to splurge a little. Tickets are $99 dollars, but this comes with unlimited feedings, food and drinks. I think they limit to alcoholic beverages. I do not drink and it was hot that day. We ended up buying the best day ever for $299 a ticket, but with tax comes to $350 which includes the 2 animal experiences. We did the sea otter and capybara experience and it was worth the money. You get to touch the animals interact with them. Each experience is 30 minutes. Be aware that some of the experiences are under $100 dollars and some are mover than $100 dollars so if you do the experiences under $100 make sure you book those separately. If you are a local, the price definitely drops and if my wife and I live around that area we probably buy season passes. Food wise, it was alright. It was mobile ordering. The food has burgers, chicken sandwich and a pull pork sandwich and salad. I ended up trying all of the menu, chicken was a little dry, I enjoyed the salad as it was fresh. The burger was good and the pulled pork was dry. Food comes out really quickly as well. Be aware the condiments do have a lot of flies. They have a snack shack as they serve cookies, popcorn and pretzels. The cookies go by quickly so make sure you grab them. I did drank a lot of soda that day because it was hot. They do have a mini water park for the kids which was nice. Park itself is not too bad, but my wife and I ended up spending the entire day here and we were not bored. There were some times were we stayed in the VIP room as that was air conditioned. My only complaint would be wish they had more indoor seating. The people and trainers were nice. They were talking to us and we got to feed the hippos and I ended up doing this the entire time of 30 minutes and at the very end I fed the giraffe the entire lettuce and did not get bored. They also have the interaction with lemurs and they go all over the places. I was scared of the bird exhibits, but I ended up feeding them. We saw the ant eaters, zebras. I enjoyed feeding the rabbits and tortoises that was fun. Make sure you do not bring your best shoes too as you might get poop on them. Definitely would come back here again for a once in a life time experience and yes it is worth paying the money. read more

Tanganyika is the place to visit if you love animals. Like love-love them so much that you want to feed them and pet them and be in their living spaces. This animal park lets you get up-close and personal with many of their animals. At Tanganyika Wildlife Park, you can mingle with lemurs, get face-to-face with sloths, pet kangaroos, feed giraffes, swim with penguins and so much more. This interactive, hands-on animal park also has a huge playground and splash pad that's open during the warmer months. There are some animals -- like the tigers and monkeys -- that you cannot pet, but they're fun to observe safely from behind a fence. The animal living spaces and clean and tidy, and the animals look healthy and happy. When I visited, I got to meet a penguin, sloth and lemur. All of the people who handled the animals were kind to the animals and also us visitors. I could tell that their priority was to make sure the animals were comfortable, which was nice to see. The park isn't overwhelmingly large, and you could probably get through it in about an hour or less, or if you wanted to stay longer and play on the playground or at the splash pad, you could make a day of this place. They also have a canteen that offers full meals like sandwiches, chicken strips with fries, and kids meals. You can also get frozen adult beverages, like margaritas and sangria, as well as local beer on tap. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience. So much to do and many great experiences. Every staff we met was kind and knowledgeable. The food was really good. An all inclusive experience. My daughters did the swim with penguins. It was a unique experience. They both had bite marks by the end and do not want to do it again because of the nipping but they were glad they did it. I went into the gift shop to buy an umbrella and I couldn't believe they loan an awesome touch that was just the start of the day we went to breakfast great we wanted went over to the lion feeding exhibit got to feed the so close and everything is so beautiful and the absolutely great. Besides all the confusing text messages before hand and being told that the park opens at 8 when the website says 9, free meals that we gave up on because we were given a code that didn't work, the actual Park itself was wonderful. Wow! This hidden gem of a park in Wichita was one of the most incredible animal experiences! For one entry price, we got to see a variety of beautiful animals up close. We hand-fed tortoises, kangaroos, Isadora the giraffe, and Pluto the Pygmy hippo among others. The grounds were clean and beautifully landscaped, and the park guides were friendly and knowledgeable. There's a water park and playground for the kids, and adult beverages at the Thirsty Sloth. To make it even better, the entry price includes meals, snacks, and drinks. We didn't do it this time, but you can make reservations to swim with otters, play with penguins, and meet Mars the baby Pygmy hippo up close. This is a worthy destination from anywhere you are now. This was an experience of a lifetime! Pygmy hippo has been my favorite animal since forever. Mr. Mars and Mommy Posie were the cutest! The otter experience was amazing! The giraffes were awesome, I got to see (not) Dwayne and his mommy!!! The unexpected best part of my visit was feeding and petting the rhinos, all named after characters from the Office. This review is about the meet and greet with the pygmy hippo, Mars, only. With the exception of this meet and greet, the park seems to be well run with staff that have a love for all the animals. It also seems that the other animal encounters are much more planned. The meet and greet with Mars, the Instagram famous pygmy hippo, was a large disappointment. We were not in close proximity to Mars nor was Mars talked about. The trainer and guide told us info about pygmy hippos in general and about Mars's mother. We were several feet away from Mars and his mother through a thick, steel fence. Of course, they are hippos and we could not get up close and personal. However, we were not encouraged to get closer to the fence even when the hippos were roaming the pen on the other side. It was an experience that we would have likely encountered at any pen at any random zoo. Definitely not an experience that would warrant a $140 each price tag! The photo that the guide took was with Mars' mother! Mars was not even in the photo. We were ushered out of the area in less than 30 minutes. There has to be a better way to do this meet and greet if they are going to ask for this high price for a distant viewing and give little information about their star performer at this park. read more

It was awesome. There was an experience for almost all the animals. My daughter and I loved meeting all the animals. We especially loved lemur island. The lemurs sat on you. You also could feed them!My daughter said that swimming with otters was really fun too. The went between your arms and legs. You also got to pet the otters while swimming with them. read more
