Giving these outlets a firm 4. Since it was raining most of the week we decided to head to the outlets to do some retail therapy. We first hit up the Tanger Outlets 1 (they are one of two). Parking wasn't a problem. There were multiple spots available. Once we parked, we decided to check out stores. This location has a nice variety, everything from the Hilton Head T-shirt company to Salty Dog, to Nike, Vans, Banana Republic, Crocs, and more. Also, pro tip, if you download the Tanger outlet, multiple stores had additional coupons available. I didn't fare too well at this section, but got a shirt from Salty Dog for me and my husband. read more

Shops are nice with a lot of variety, but the bathrooms are not consistently dependable/functioning. The automatic doors for those with mobility issues are not working at the restrooms. The shops have good prices and the folks at the stores we shop at are always helpful. Note: Tanger Outlet Managemnt requested that I send feedback to their feedback email address. I have done so in hopes that they can address non functioning restrooms and non functioning automatic doors to assist mobility impaired persons entering the area where restrooms are located. read more

Great mix of outlet stores and boutique stores. Very walkable and all stores are located in a loop so you can hit them all easily. Bathrooms are located frequently along the loop. There is an awning to keep you dry on rainy days. If you get hungry, there is a good variety of quick eats/ sit down restaurants located in the plaza. There is a Tanger outlets 1 and Tanger outlets 2 is located a little ways down the road with different stores. You do have to drive from the first complex to the second. read more

What's not to love? Saks, Chicos, Travelpro, Greg Norman and just about every other store you can think of. Even St. John, where I snagged a basic black dress for about $200. Can you even imagine that? It would have cost me more in a consignment shop. Allow plenty of time...especially if you plan to hit 1 and 2. You'll be glad you did! Two seemed to have more eateries than 1, but can't attest to that. And it dangerous for me to shop after an adult beverage, so we didn't partake till we got home. This being Mother's Day weekend there are many additional discounts being offered. The four of us took a break from playing golf today. Instead we went shopping. I have to say it was worth it. We purchased activewear from North Face, Columbia, and Adidas. Golf sunglasses from Oakley. Cookies from Byrd's Famous Cookies. Foundation from Jockey. Golf shoes from Ecco. All because of additional discounts. It was a great shopping day. We thought Tanger 1 had more shops to our liking. read more

Quiet ambient day at the Hilton Head Tanger Outlets, bought some insoles. Nothing spectalur stood out to me, place was nearly deserted. A few weird smells in many of the stores, as well as slightly unsatisfactory service. Was disappointing that the marvel make your own comic photo booth was not working. We stayed in the area for golf but ended up shopping on a rainy day in February so when we returned to the area on another trip in May it was a natural choice to visit. A sale at the Greg Norman outlet for Memorial Day kept the price of golf shirts at $19.99 - a real steal for the $70 price found elsewhere. Bath and Body Works was another stop for sale items, but none found in my preferred scents so I will shop online for those. Good place if you know your merchandise and prices. read more

Amazingly, my wife and daughter only had enough patience to explore just one half of the Tanger Outlets mall. It is quite large and it would be easy to miss the other side. Don't. Unless you're me and protecting your budget! Lots of options, but they are consistent with the Tanger Outlets that I have seen in Branson MO, Commerce GA, Mebane NC, San Marcos TX, Charleston SC and Nags Head NC. It is an outdoor mall with some cover from the elements. You can make your way around at least one half of it under complete cover unless it's really windy or really cold. Some of the stores have some great deals, some of them do not. There was a great special in the Coach outlet, unfortunately. There's $200 on a (very high quality) backpack spent! Two outlets within 1 mile of each other--how great. The locations have similar set ups. It was hot so we bee-lined to the stores I wanted to check out. They offer the typical outlet stores like Nike, Banana Republic, Haggar, and Loft. You can always find some great deals. read more

Tanger Outlets Hilton Head on Fording Island Road in Bluffton is a great place to shop with a wide selection of different stores available. I like the atmosphere and location with all of the stores within walking distance. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here. read more

This is a smaller Tanger with less stores. There are 2 separate parts. I only went to 2. It was kind of a disappointment compared to the other Tangers. I would not come here again for that Tanger shopping experience. However, if there is a specific store you're looking for, then definitely hit it up. After I went to 2, my excitement for shopping fizzled out for 1. So I cant even tell you about 1. Also, I went to use the restroom and there was a cleaning cart blocking the entryway, I called out to see if anyone was in the restroom. I waited several minutes. No one ever showed up. The website only mapped out another restroom on the other side of this lame ass mall..so this only added to my bad experience. I noped out of ther quickly. read more

I've been to the Tanger outlets over the years and I can honestly say that they have just about everything you would want to buy. There are two outlets covering about two square miles of shopping stores. This visit we had some ice cream from kilwins that was delicious and perfect for a hot August day. Next we visited the Croc store since I needed some new flip flops and found a perfect black and grey camo that should last for years and they are comfortable and gives me the arch support that I need. Finally my wife needed a small roller suitcase that wasn't black or blue and she found it at the luggage outlet. Originally they didn't have the color purple that she wanted but the sales man said they were expecting a new shipment the next day. We returned a couple days later and found exactly what she wanted and at a great price. read more

The "Tanger Outlets Hilton Head" are actually located off of Hilton Head Island, about 1-2 miles west of the bridge that takes you onto the island, in the town of Bluffton. The outlets are composed of two separate properties, about a mile apart on the main drag (Fording Island Road / 278), and are known as "Tanger Outlets 1" and "Tanger Outlets 2." Before Tanger purchased these malls years ago, I believe they were two separately owned and operated entities. As a regular visitor to Hilton Head since the mid-80s, a lot of my wardrobe has come (and still comes, to a lesser extent) from these outlet malls. I remember when it was just Tanger Outlets 1 that existed and Tanger Outlets 2 probably wasn't even conceptualized yet. Back then, they were called something else that I can't remember. So, Tanger Outlets 1 is the older of the two properties. From my perspective, for the most part, not much has changed about these outlet malls from a visual and atmospheric perspective. They've pretty much remained the same over the last 30 or so years with no major renovations or changes that I can think of or notice. Admittedly, they do feel a bit dated these days, but are still functional/practical. Retailers have come and gone over the years. My favorites at Tanger Outlets 1 are Polo Ralph Lauren, Hanesbrands, Brooks Brothers, and Gold Toe. Other good ones include Under Armour, Adidas, and Ecco. At Tanger Outlets 2, I like Nike, Gap, The North Face, Clarks, and Pro Golf Discount (all golfers need to check it out). Some other notable brands include Saks Fifth Avenue (Off 5th), J.Crew, Michael Kors, Banana Republic, Lucky Brand Jeans, Eddie Bauer, and H&M. One brand I like that no longer exists here is G.H. Bass & Co. In total, the outlets feature nearly 100 brands. As with any outlet mall, the quality and selection of the merchandise isn't always first tier, but you can often find decent quality merchandise or merchandise that's "good enough" at good to great bargains. At Tanger Outlets 1, it's between The Children's Place and Lane Bryant. At Tanger Outlets 2, it's between Pro Golf Discount and OshKosh B'gosh. There's a complimentary shuttle that runs daily, 11am-4pm, between Tanger Outlets 1 and Tanger Outlets 2. At Tanger Outlets 1, the shuttle picks up on the hour and half-hour next to Shopper Services and next to the gazebo by Off 5th. The landscaping of Bluffton-Hilton Head is much different than Florida. Florida has all its uglyness right out there in front, you're driving down the road and see DQ, Checkers, Steak&Shake, etc.. Bluffton uses the natural landscaping as a barrier. All you really see are beautiful trees. Through those trees my wife found Tanger Outlets. It's not a big deal, I always like strolling thru an open air mall. It's much smaller than what I'm accustom to where I live and that's ok. I'm enjoying it all, just walking among the manicured and clean areas. We expected to see some different stores but its pretty much the standard stores we have back home. If your shopping for school, work or for the holidays, Tanger Outlets should always be your first choice. read more

My wife couldn't find the kind of clothes she was looking for in Walterboro (where we live), so we headed to the most logical choice when it comes to clothes shopping... Tanger Outlets. Bluffton has a Tanger #1 and Tanger #2, because one clearly just isn't enough. They are only about a mile between each other, with a shuttle that can take you between the two. The grounds are kept very well maintained and the bathrooms extremely clean. There's a ton of really great quality stores where we were able to find exactly what she was looking for (and then some). In for vacation, we have never been to Hilton Head but I was that the outlets were close. They had a good selection of stores and the people working were all nice and helpful! I went later thinking that they were open until 9, but unfortunately some stores closed earlier. Not a big deal but be sure to check if you are in need of a specific one. read more

I likes! You know here is Southeast Virginia we have Outlet Malls near Williamsburg and in Norfolk. Very similar to Tanger in a wide variety of places to shop and eat. What I love about this particular outlet is availability for parking. We were able to park right in front of some of the most popular stores. Most of the shops had a sale going on and the service was very friendly. Went to the information center where we were enrolled in savings via e-mail. Next time I'm in the Hilton Head area, I will stop by. read more

Two Tangers?! Yes, please! They've even got a shuttle now to take you between the two. Tanger 2 is the original and much more appealing to the eye but I do like 1 for the Vineyard Vines and Kate Spade outlets. The restaurant selection is better at 1 too but 2 has the Starbucks. We make the trip down at least once a year, usually around Black Friday. Parking at 1 can be a pain but it's not so bad at 2, especially if you park closer to the Starbucks. read more

Although outside and it can get quite hot walking around, this mall is large and probably had what you are looking for. In fact there are two sections about a mile apart. Get yourself a map (there are some in wall racks or at their service desk area) and figure out a game plan. From about 12 to 4 pm, there is a free shuttle from Tanger 1 to Tanger 2. The shuttle driver is a really nice guy enjoying recent retirement. I went to 3 stores looking for specific items. Unusually, I found exactly what I needed and made purchases at all three stores. Having just been at the Tanger Outlets in Charleston, I can tell you that the stores here are larger and they have more and better stock/inventory than many other similar outlets. From Augusta you have two outlet options; just outside Atlanta and here. So whenever I venture to Hilton Head I am sure to allot time (and money) to visit here. If you have never been to a Tanger Outlet, just know that they have every store you could think of. Shoes to clothes to purses to food to beauty products, it's all here. They have restaurants and coffee shops because you will be there that long. It is a sight to behold. Though I always go to certain shops first, I make sure to walk around and see what's new. Just this last trip I ventured into Clark's and picked up a pair of shoes (and I am so glad I did). They have new places being added on a regular basis so you never know what you'll find. As a whole, team members seem to always have a smile on their face and willing to help. This may be because they get to be at Hilton Head year round or because they are actually friendly. Either way, I appreciate it. Do be sure to get there early, as close parking spots fill up quick. Or come on a Sunday. This is a typical Tanger Outlet. Not especially high end but not low end either. Very similar to the outlets in NY. It is very clean and well organized with sitting areas, restrooms and coin operated rides for young children. I especially liked the Sketchers outlet. I would say the most high end store is the Coach Store and I am not a huge lover of Coach. read more

This is a nice outlet, and is definitely worth a trip when visiting HHI. The outlet itself is about a 30 minute drive from HHI. Interestingly, Tanger 1 and 2 are about a mile apart, and we only visited 1, although trolley service is available between the two. Unlike most Tangers we have previously visited, they actually played great music. It was sort of a mix between jazz and big band, and we enjoyed it while walking around the stores. They have most of the usual shops at a Tanger outlet, with a few additions, such as Saks, Harry & David, Under Armour, and Ecco. We didn't actually go looking for anything in particular, but spent some money regardless! read more

Holy outlet mall!!! I generally try to stay far away from malls but I have never been to outlets before. Not only was this outdoor mall beautiful but it was filled with large stores, name brands and amazing prices. Of course the southern charm helped sell me on quite a few items. I think I bought more then the girls did!! I highly recommend visiting. FYI, there are two parts to this mall, the second "hanger" is down the street a little. I stopped by the Tanger Outlets this past weekend to kill some time before heading home to Charleston from Hilton Head. We have a Tanger Center in Charleston and I've been to others in Myrtle Beach and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., so I've experienced lots of Tanger Outlets. It's an outdoor mall with plenty of walkways and covered space, but you might not want to be here if it's rainy or bad weather (fortunately this is SC so the weather is usually nice). Tanger 1 and Tanger 2 are pretty close together but you'll probably want to drive from center to center, and you should check out both of them. Bluffton's Tanger had some outlet stores that I haven't seen at other outlets (Hollister, Abercrombie, Salty Dog shirts), and it also had some stores that were really stores and not "outlets" (such as the Kilwin's Ice Cream). It also has a lot of the usual outlet favorites like Ralph Lauren, Gap, and Nike. The outlets have free WiFi and you can use their website to navigate directions from store to store, which is really handy- no need to scout out one of those large directories or carry around a brochure when you can use your phone. Plus the free wi-fi is great if you're with people who want to shop and you just want to chill out with some ice cream, food, or find a nice park bench somewhere :). I had a good time shopping at Tanger. I wouldn't make a drive from Charleston to Bluffton for the outlets, but I'd definitely stop again if in the area. read more

Love that it's mandated to wear masks so there's not much discussion about the subject. Everyone was extremely friendly providing extra help when needed! Very accessibly for strollers and family friendly. Only suggestion is having the cars slow down and watching for pedestrians. They can clearly see someone walking across and will try to speed up make sure you don't get across in time and get mad they didn't get across! That's such a safety hazard especially with kids but besides that had lots of fun read more

This outlet is Tanger II. The original one is under construction and it is just down the street. They have clean grounds, and this place is easy to navigate. Signs pointing to the stores. Hey I remember when 278 had almost nothing on it except for trees and swamp. Now look at it. Things change after 20 years. I usually come to The Nike Factory in this outlet. read more

It's strange how this outlet was split into two areas: Tanger Outlets 1 & Tanger Outlets 2. The two areas are about 1 to 2 miles apart so it's not a super long drive. The neighborhood #2 (I think) had more of the premium brands. Plus, it was much bigger as well. If I wasn't a shopaholic, I'd mosey around all day checking out all the brands I love: RL, MK, Nike, Kenneth Cole, DK, True Religion, BR, etc. Most of which is in neighborhood #2 (again, I think). The outlet is laid out in a circular shape so you can mostly walk under shade and store hop. Parking was pretty plentiful so no worries there. read more

I love vacationing here! The whole outlet is awesome! Hollister, Under Armor and Nine West is mostly where my kids went to because we did not have much time to shop. Only because The weather was gorgeous the whole week. And we normally shopped on rainy days or colder days. Still made time to go to these stores. I must have bought over $200 worth of tops, skirts and shorts for my kids and nothing was over $10 each! Under Armor was great! Lots of items I could not get from NJ at those prices. And from Nine West, EVERYTHING in the store was 1/2 price! Even the sale items! Love, love, love Tanger! Can't wait to go back to South Carolina! read more

There are actual two outlets (Tanger 1 & 2), but they are about 1 mile and don't think they provide shuttle. The selection is good with many brand name stores for all ages. However, there isn't much drink or food choice, so get a drink and bring some snacks before your shop. If you are member of AAA or AARP, you can get a coupon book for free at the information desk.
