Today they were open and had a plant sale and a make a take craft. Carolee's is a whimsical herb farm that is great for adults and kids. There are different themed gardens (e.g. butterfly garden). In the summer, there are fields of all different varieties of lavender (in fact I think this is their biggest attraction). The farm also has a green house with plenty of plants you can purchase to take home (including a wide variety of lander and lavendin plants). They also have items for sale that are flower/herb themed, fairy stuff, dried herbs, quite a bit of dried lavender items including wreaths and lavender wands. Today there was a make a take craft (no charge) and a delicious elder flower cake and tea. Carolee helped picking out plants and was very kind during our visit. The craft was a bath tea (lemon balm, orange peal, rosemary, epsom salts, oatmeal). I look forward to using it later. I will definitely come back next year before the lavender has been harvested. I would like to harvest some of my own fresh lavender. Also, check out the calender on the website, there are occasionally workshops available. I think there is a crockpot soap making workshop coming up that seemed very interesting.

She could not have been more kind and warm; I'm so sad I didn't get her and the owners' names (but her daughter also owns the jewelry store across the street!!). Olive & Slate is a must-shop. Instantly the scent of one of their candles hits your senses and you're drawn in. They sell these awesome robot pieces made of metal and tin and are painted and out together by locals. They also sell flour towels with amazing quips on them (see pics below - they're only $7!!), and Mud Pie products that you canNOT love without. You gotta go visit. BRING YOUR MONEY! Buyer's remorse is NOT a factor here!

There are numerous items (like coffee mugs) styled with clever sayings. There are candles and pots, note pads, and ceramics. Near the entrance is a 3' long "Woodie" station wagon car filled with products. I've never seen anything like it! The mix is eclectic, but somehow the owner has a good sense of style and taste to make it look like it goes together. I can't help it, the daffodils and hyacinths pop through and I'm off to the races. I grew up in Union City with Wasson's as our go-to nursery. I had fun taking my kiddos this past weekend to see what we bushes and annuals we could find to finish off our landscaping. We were a little too early for some of the items but found some strata and eyed some purchases for down the road. The greenhouses are such a fun escape- even on a rainy day. My hey offer trees, bird baths, hanging baskets, vegetables, seeds, bushes, mulch and more. They also offer landscaping design services. Inside the shop they offered a sweet little Earth Day "Craft" for kids to plant their own seeds in a compostable container (a cake cone- clever!). Ours is already in the garden and we can't wait to see what comes of it. Overall, a lovely and nostalgic visit for our crew.

During a recent antiquing day with my mom, grandma and husband, we strolled our way along Columbia Street and popped in and out of the few shops. The Art Hub had a fresh energy about it. Growing up in Union City, I loved seeing how so many people I know are contributing their talents to the shop like honey from Mr. Root, pottery by Mrs.Boettger and baskets from South America via Linda DeHaven. We perused the shelves filled with alpaca apparel, jewelry, stationary, wooden furniture and more. In the end, we ended up purchasing a chair, basket, and ginger granola made in Indianapolis. I hope more and more people from Union City realize this business is here and help keep it thriving into the future. Cheers to those who made it possible.

You've got to be looking for it to find it, it's located in a old, worn down brick factory near downtown Muncie. The prices here are better than other architectural salvages place we have visited, they are actually affordable. It's nothing fancy, wear your coat in the winter as it's chilly inside since it's just an open building with no heat. You can find old doors, trim, wood pieces, door handles and more here. They even had a completely intact old staircase and fireplace available when we went to visit. If you are restoring an older home, or want authentic reclaimed wood, it is your place to go. We did ask - they do not buy supplies from individuals wanting to sell.
