Do they offer the tanta experience prefix every night or is it just one day out of the week?

When we went a couple of weeks ago, it was in the everyday menu. It is realy worth it, great experience, as in any of Gaston's restaurants. It was a lot food for two at a great price.

Dinner menu serves lunch time too?

No, the lunch and dinner menu are slightly different.

    What is the dress code?

Anything goes. Chicago is a very casual town, as most places are these days.

How much is the Valet parking?

    $20.

The Aji de Gallina (from the menu: "Chicken in walnut sauce. Served with potato, boiled egg and white rice") was incredibly good, although it didn't taste like walnuts to me. Doesn't matter, I'd get it again. Service was great, our server was very nice and attentive. We went at a random time so we were the only people there. Music was not loud or non-existent (thank you). Hoping to go back again soon!

Excellent. The pollo saltado - chicken stir fried with onions and tomatoes. The sauce poured over French fries, so they soak in all the juices. A side of white rice makes for the perfect side. Rotisserie chicken - this was the reason we came, and damn did it deliver. Incredibly moist and full of flavor. The green pepper sauce it comes with pairs perfectly. It's got a little subtle kick to it. The staff was great and super friendly. Food came out quick and was so fresh. Prices are super reasonable, and portions are large. The dining room is large and comfortable but no frills - the focus is on the food, as it should be.

The food and drinks are a bit pricey, on par with higher end restaurants in Chicago nowadays. In terms of food, our absolute favorite was the Pulpo Parrillero (grilled octopus) ~ so good! We also enjoyed the Yucas Trufadas (yucca fritters w/ truffle sauce). The Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado were good, but would probably try something else next time. For dessert, we had the Crema Volteada, which was delicious, though unfortunately I think it was a bit overbaked, as the texture was a bit dense like jello instead of creamy and melt-in-your-mouth like a flan. Service was great ~ at first we were seated at a small booth table by the open kitchen, and being a lefty, I felt cramped between the wall and the larger party next to me. We let our server know, and she was very gracious and moved us to a much more comfortable seat in the middle of the restaurant. And the lomo saltado I thought was a bit dry/tough, and they brought use a new one quickly. Unfortunately, the texture was the same, but the server and manager again were very gracious about it, and gave us a dessert on the house. Overall, despite a few hiccups, we had a wonderful time and look foward to returning for the Pulpo Parrillero and to try some of the other menu items!

As Peruvians, we were especially excited to try it. I started with the Yucas Trufadas paired with a pisco sour. The yucas were tasty, and the truffle huancaína added a unique twist, while the pisco sour was excellent. It tasted like a good pisco sour, and a great way to start. For the second course, I had the chaufa alongside the sohoul cocktail. I'm a big chaufa lover, and while this wasn't traditional in appearance, it was excellent. The maitake mushrooms added a slightly crunchy texture that I really enjoyed. The Sohoul, however, was my least favorite of the drinks. Lychee just isn't my jam. For dessert, I had the lúcuma ice cream paired with an espresso martini. The ice cream was a 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and not something you can find in stores. The espresso martini was a perfect match for me as a coffee lover. Definitely more coffee-forward than sweet, and a great pick-me-up to end the meal. Service was seamless, with our server bringing each new drink right as we finished the last. Between the cocktails and the thoughtfully portioned courses, we left feeling satisfied and not at all hungry. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, just keep in mind it leans more toward a fine dining experience rather than traditional Peruvian street-style food.

Happy hour on a Saturday? Sign me up!…read more We landed on Boleo as our option for early dinner for four of us before a tango concert and performance because it's South American, and we love a theme. We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

I think it is a bit overpriced overall. The lomo saltado was my least favorite. Heavier on the soy sauce taste than typical lomo saltado. The guacamole needed a little more salt/flavor. I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home. The sauce was exactly what I expected: rich and flavorful. Service was good, especially for a small, family-owned restaurant. My only complaint was the water: When I asked for regular water, it tasted like it came straight from an unfiltered faucet, so I wasn't a fan of that. The good news is that they are BYOB! Overall, despite the first impression from the outside, the food was delicious and worth the trip.

Rocoto is small - about 11 tablea - with 2 large tvs that were surrounded by men after work, quietly enjoying fútbol, converting a few tables into a viewing area, and having Peruvian soft drinks, like inka kola and kola inglesa. This place is BYOB and doesn't serve alcohol. Our waitress, Tracy, answered all of our questions and was very sweet. Now, I LOVED their "bites" menu which allowed us to try their entrees in smaller portions, which are actually more like normal portions! This is a great option for me as someone that doesn't eat huge portions and made it an affordable dinner (and each of us had left overs). The food is delicious, authentic and satisfied my Peruvian partner beyond her picky expectations (her grandmother is a Peruvian Chef so she's a tough critic. We had the Tallarines saltado de carne, Ají de Gallina, Cau Cau and lomo saltado. All yummy and came out steaming fresh, made to order. I'd add extra onions and tomatoes in the lomo if you're into that since it was heavier on the fries. Other than that, food is a solid 8/10. Please get the house ají. It's is so good. It's not very spicy and very savory and flavorful green sauce for every meal. We went crazy and also ordered dessert. The Mazamora, mixto con arroz con leche, combining 2 desserts traditionally served side by side, topped with cinnamon. The purple side is like a purple fruit pudding made from purple corn, and filed with pineapple pieces, plums and cloves paired with a creamy, sweet rice pudding with raisins. Perfectly let balance of sweet and fruity, Hearty dessert. (Pro tip: ask for it warm) All in all if I can't come in, I'm ordering on grub hub and enjoying it at home. I'm definitely a fan now.
