Absolutely great! Loved they ask how spicy you want your cebiche or other entrées. Ambiance is amazing, small place feel yet casually fresh and inviting. Easy street parking or parking garage nearby. Service was quick and phenomenal. That causa Rellena was fabulous.

I've been wanting to come here ever since they opened. This location has seen about 3-4 different restaurants in the past 2 years. I don't really care what's here, as long as they serve good food and sticks around for a while. I will admit, their prices are a little bit on the high side, which is why it took me a while to visit them. What I do regret however, is allowing the prices from preventing me to visit this place sooner. I definitely have been missing out. While their items are still a little pricey, it's definitely worth it. The quality is there, and the customer service is great as well. We started off with their leche de Tigre & and a pitcher of their chicha morada. I made sure the leche de tigre came spicy as well, but then I forgot, Mexico is the only Latin American country that actually serves spicy food. The rest, while the flavor is most definitely there, the spice level well never match Mexicos, and that includes Peru as well haha. The leche de Tigre was delicious though. It's basically the citrus marinade used to cook shrimp in ceviche. It was very sour, but I couldn't get enough of it. I would definitely order this again. My wife ordered their Arroz con Pollo. It was served with rice cooked in cilantro sauce. The the rice was delicious and had a hint of citrus as well. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was served with Papa a la Huancaina. I ordered their Lomo Saltado. This is the dish that earned them their 5 stars. You get beef tenderloin sautéed with onions, tomatoes, fries and a side of white rice. The fries are mixed in the dish, but the beef tenderloin strips were very tender, and so flavorful. The dish itself was also very filling. I would probably blame the fries for that though. They also offered us Aji Amarillo sauce which was quite flavorful as well. I dipped the fries in it and even poured some over the dish. Overall a very delicious meal. I wouldn't hesitate returning.

Best lomo saltado ever . Every time I go to Chicago I have to stop by and I'm from the suburbs. I really recommend it.

I will begin, I have gone passed this location on several occasions when I am in the area. I tried this location when I ran into a staff/coach from my high school. We met lunch here. It was worth it. Very friendly staff, greeted immediately. Very comfortable seating, the ambiance is very relaxed. Good for groups or dinner for two. The portions are perfect to share, very well served I wasn't disappointed l. I am glad my friend suggested this location. I will be back soon. I do recommend here is you enjoy authentic Peruvian food.

Another one of my HIDDEN GEMS! As a Peruvian I am willing to say this is the best Peruvian restaurant in Chicago. Food is authentic and delicious! Excellent service and prices are very fair for the generous serving sizes. There's meter parking in the street. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone! Lomo saltado is juicy and their ceviche is also amazing!

Saw this restaurant since the Central Gyros restaurant that we wanted to go to is closed Tuesday and this is place was open and I am glad that we went. Delicious food, small restaurant with very good ambiance. Good place for a date night.

I went to have breakfast to Avenida Peru with my husband today! It was so delicious, for a lil time I thought I was in my country,Peru . I want to recommend to everyone to try this food by breakfast time, they have only on weekends. We enjoyed it and I am pretty sure I will come back

This spot was recommended by a Peruvian friend. I'm glad I took his advice. The food was great. We ordered 2 Lomo saltados and shrimp ceviche as the appetizer. The steak was tender and the portions were really big. We could've definitely shared 1. The ceviche was fresh. Perfect balance of flavors. The leche de tigre was fucking glorious! I'll be coming back soon. :)

First time here and I am loving this place. There isn't much Peruvian place I know and my boyfriend love Peruvian food. He was excited to come here and try out the dishes. We order two appetizer and two entree. The food come out with good presentation. The employee is very welcoming. The food is well seasoned. Would come back here again and recommend friend and family members to come here. The menu isn't large but have good food choices for you to choose. Across from the restaurant there is a free parking lot where you can park.

Lomo saltado con tallarines ala huancaina. Beef stir fry with noodles in a creamy huancaina sauce (imagine an Alfredo sauce with a twist).

We ordered from here for New Years and the food was top notch! Great service and excellent flavors. We had the lomo saltado con tallarines ala huncaina, seco, ocopo arequipeña, and alfajores. All were excellent! I highly recommend their food. This Peruvian approves! As with all the other restaurants, they are carry-out only.

Nice cozy atmosphere, friendly fast service, and a menu that has all the Peruvian classics. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was the BOMB!! Meat was tender and delicious... sauce was spectacular with the perfect amount of fries to soak it up... rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly. This is a pretty traditional dish and they nailed it. Look forward to trying more of the menu.

The food is meant to be shared, so we got a little bit of everything. My highlights were the goat empanadas, the duck salad and the steak main course. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pollo (a tad dry) but we're talking one out of 7 dishes that didn't blow me away. The setup is Insta-worthy, and I liked the fact that the bar had a decent number of seats (so if you come solo, there shouldn't be a problem most nights.) Highly recommend

You get a panoramic view of Chicago while being surrounded by lively chatter and ambient mood lighting, making it perfect for a night out. The staff were polite and super attentive, service was a 10/10. I had a great time, but there's one word I would describe the food--salty. Keep in mind, I love salt, some might say even too much (my friends & family definitely have). However, these dishes pushed me beyond my salt limit. I may have even left with hypertension. We ordered: 1. Goat Empanadas served with a huacatay mayo ($18) - 9/10 This was the best dish that we ordered. It was well seasoned with a flakey, delicious empanada dough but it tasted like any other good empanada I've had and definitely not worth the price. 2. Salmon Ceviche* with pistachio smash, avocado leche, and puffed rice ($22) - 7/10 Fatty salmon with citrus are a beloved combination, so no complaints from me. You can definitely get this anywhere else or make it yourself and be satisfied though. 3. Hot Chorizo & Queso Dip with herby chimi, chip crunch, & flatbread ($18) - 6/10 VERY chorizo forward to the point it dominated dip. The citrus from the chimichurri added a nice tanginess. I couldn't appreciate the cheese flavor which I wanted but that depends on your preference. Surprisingly the fresh, fluffy flat bread & sweet potato chips were my favorite part. 4. Jalea Mixta which was fried calamari & shrimp, salsa criolla, & caper mayo ($22) - 4/10 Honestly a very generous portion. Something about it was sickeningly citrusy though so we had to force ourselves to finish the dish. I started developing a headache from all the sour & salty flavors. We were celebrating so they brought us complimentary Peruvian chocolate truffles (I didn't see it on their menu). It was kind of them but it was oddly the MOST salty bite of the night. We each took a bite & had to spit it out discreetly which was very unlike us. I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times I've had to do that in my life. Also, I'd NEVER turn down a complimentary dessert but it seems like there's a first time for everything. Honestly maybe it's my fault for ordering this combination of dishes...but how can EVERY DISH be TOO salty?! I'm from Texas, so I don't shy away from salty, flavorful foods so I just think Cabra wasn't for me & I wouldn't return. I've tried multiple Goat-affiliated restaurants and despite my repeated mediocre culinary experience, I still keep giving them a chance. In the sea of glowing reviews, I just HAVE to check it out for myself (sometimes multiple times to make sure). So far, I'm not very impressed but I'll see you at my next Goat restaurant review.

We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home. The sauce was exactly what I expected: rich and flavorful. Service was good, especially for a small, family-owned restaurant. My only complaint was the water: When I asked for regular water, it tasted like it came straight from an unfiltered faucet, so I wasn't a fan of that. The good news is that they are BYOB! Now, I LOVED their "bites" menu which allowed us to try their entrees in smaller portions, which are actually more like normal portions! This is a great option for me as someone that doesn't eat huge portions and made it an affordable dinner (and each of us had left overs). The food is delicious, authentic and satisfied my Peruvian partner beyond her picky expectations (her grandmother is a Peruvian Chef so she's a tough critic. We had the Tallarines saltado de carne, Ají de Gallina, Cau Cau and lomo saltado. All yummy and came out steaming fresh, made to order. It's not very spicy and very savory and flavorful green sauce for every meal. We went crazy and also ordered dessert. The Mazamora, mixto con arroz con leche, combining 2 desserts traditionally served side by side, topped with cinnamon. The purple side is like a purple fruit pudding made from purple corn, and filed with pineapple pieces, plums and cloves paired with a creamy, sweet rice pudding with raisins. Perfectly let balance of sweet and fruity, Hearty dessert. (Pro tip: ask for it warm) All in all if I can't come in, I'm ordering on grub hub and enjoying it at home. I'm definitely a fan now.
