In the middle of having an absolutely delicious meal. I have to come on and say everything about this restaurant is perfect. Very homey vibe with lots of places to sit. Our server Cecilia was prompt efficient and gave me and my partner incredible recommendations and service. I went outside my comfort zone and her recommendation was unbelievably good. Will be back over and over again. Worth every penny. Thank you Cecilia for being kind and thank you to the talented kitchen crew of Taste of Peru.

The chicken dish was actually surprisingly delicious. But the paella was not to my liking. I'm not sure if this is my personal preference but I usually enjoy Spanish paellas: cooked and baked in a pan with crispy rice bottoms and thin layer of rice on top with Spanish chorizo, shrimp in shell, and mussels, as well as a heavy saffron and white wine taste. This paella here is rather bland and light in comparison.

Found this Peruvian restaurant randomly on Yelp. Didn't know it is very famous and had been on many magazine recommendations before. Food is very good and big portion. I got the Lomo saltado, classic Peruvian. Lots of beef and potatoes. Good flavor of stir fry. To help u digest you can drink some chicha morada. Don't see this corn drink in many places. Apparently Guy Fieri been here too and he loves it. Don't know if his opinion matters to u or not. For parking, since this is in a small shopping center, there is plenty of parking. And bus stop is right next to it.

came here for peruvian independence day because my friend (who is Peruvian) wanted to go out to celebrate!! she split the guy fieri special with another friend and said it was really good, so trust that !! i split the lomo saltado with another friend and it was good! i think Peruvian food overall is a bit heavy for my particular taste but the beef was marinated rlly well and i liked the onions in it as well. i wish there were more veggies but i still thought it was good for what it was! our waiter was rlly nice & they brought the food out rlly quickly. also, the decor inside is super fun & i love how much guy fieri is featured throughout the inside.

This place was on our DDD tour. So glad we stopped here. Service was good. The food was omg delicious! I got the arroz con mariscos. It was a nice big serving leaving me some for lunch the next day. It was even good cooling off as I snacked on it while we were driving. Definitely not a disappointing stop!

I stopped by Taste of Peru and tried the Lomo Saltado--and wow, it was absolutely exquisite! Perfectly seasoned, tender beef with that classic wok-charred flavor that makes this dish a standout. Easily one of the better versions I've had. I also ordered the Yuca a la Huancaína. The huancaína sauce was tasty, but the yuca itself was a little too greasy for my preference--it could've used a lighter touch. The restaurant itself is very small, and it was uncomfortably hot inside, which made it hard to really relax and enjoy the meal. I'd probably opt for takeout next time unless the temperature situation improves. Overall, great flavors, but a better dine-in experience would take it to the next level.

food: first time having Peruvian! great authentic place where you definitely get good portions for the price service: waiter was very nice and she was the only one working the whole restaurant ambiance: small interior

First time here and decided to stop here for lunch on a Monday. The menu was quite extensive and we went with a few dishes that were recommended. We shared two empanadas call (one each , chicken and beef). Also had the combination ceviche which came with mussels, shrimp, scallops, and Seabass. Very fresh tasting and very lime-ey!!!! The other dish we tried was the aji chicken. Oh my----the chicken portion was ginormous!!! All was very tasty. The service was great.

As delicious as the appetizers were, don't plan to order them unless you haven't eaten all day. The portion sizes are HUGE, and while it isn't a bad thing, my eyes were certainly bigger than my stomach. The tamal and kebabs were SO good. Definitely one of my favorite spots for chicken now. The Lomo Saltado was the perfect bite: a mix of everything starchy, fatty, and yummy. Definitely a dish I'm going to be dreaming about. One of the first places I had to take my phone out at during the meal just to tell folks about it. Will definitely be coming back.

You get a panoramic view of Chicago while being surrounded by lively chatter and ambient mood lighting, making it perfect for a night out. The staff were polite and super attentive, service was a 10/10. I had a great time, but there's one word I would describe the food--salty. Keep in mind, I love salt, some might say even too much (my friends & family definitely have). However, these dishes pushed me beyond my salt limit. I may have even left with hypertension. We ordered: 1. Goat Empanadas served with a huacatay mayo ($18) - 9/10 This was the best dish that we ordered. It was well seasoned with a flakey, delicious empanada dough but it tasted like any other good empanada I've had and definitely not worth the price. 2. Salmon Ceviche* with pistachio smash, avocado leche, and puffed rice ($22) - 7/10 Fatty salmon with citrus are a beloved combination, so no complaints from me. You can definitely get this anywhere else or make it yourself and be satisfied though. 3. Hot Chorizo & Queso Dip with herby chimi, chip crunch, & flatbread ($18) - 6/10 VERY chorizo forward to the point it dominated dip. The citrus from the chimichurri added a nice tanginess. I couldn't appreciate the cheese flavor which I wanted but that depends on your preference. Surprisingly the fresh, fluffy flat bread & sweet potato chips were my favorite part. 4. Jalea Mixta which was fried calamari & shrimp, salsa criolla, & caper mayo ($22) - 4/10 Honestly a very generous portion. Something about it was sickeningly citrusy though so we had to force ourselves to finish the dish. I started developing a headache from all the sour & salty flavors. We were celebrating so they brought us complimentary Peruvian chocolate truffles (I didn't see it on their menu). It was kind of them but it was oddly the MOST salty bite of the night. We each took a bite & had to spit it out discreetly which was very unlike us. I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times I've had to do that in my life. Also, I'd NEVER turn down a complimentary dessert but it seems like there's a first time for everything. Honestly maybe it's my fault for ordering this combination of dishes...but how can EVERY DISH be TOO salty?! I'm from Texas, so I don't shy away from salty, flavorful foods so I just think Cabra wasn't for me & I wouldn't return. I've tried multiple Goat-affiliated restaurants and despite my repeated mediocre culinary experience, I still keep giving them a chance. In the sea of glowing reviews, I just HAVE to check it out for myself (sometimes multiple times to make sure). So far, I'm not very impressed but I'll see you at my next Goat restaurant review.

We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home. The sauce was exactly what I expected: rich and flavorful. Service was good, especially for a small, family-owned restaurant. My only complaint was the water: When I asked for regular water, it tasted like it came straight from an unfiltered faucet, so I wasn't a fan of that. The good news is that they are BYOB! Now, I LOVED their "bites" menu which allowed us to try their entrees in smaller portions, which are actually more like normal portions! This is a great option for me as someone that doesn't eat huge portions and made it an affordable dinner (and each of us had left overs). The food is delicious, authentic and satisfied my Peruvian partner beyond her picky expectations (her grandmother is a Peruvian Chef so she's a tough critic. We had the Tallarines saltado de carne, Ají de Gallina, Cau Cau and lomo saltado. All yummy and came out steaming fresh, made to order. I'd add extra onions and tomatoes in the lomo if you're into that since it was heavier on the fries. Other than that, food is a solid 8/10. Please get the house ají. It's is so good. It's not very spicy and very savory and flavorful green sauce for every meal. We went crazy and also ordered dessert. The Mazamora, mixto con arroz con leche, combining 2 desserts traditionally served side by side, topped with cinnamon. The purple side is like a purple fruit pudding made from purple corn, and filed with pineapple pieces, plums and cloves paired with a creamy, sweet rice pudding with raisins. Perfectly let balance of sweet and fruity, Hearty dessert. (Pro tip: ask for it warm) All in all if I can't come in, I'm ordering on grub hub and enjoying it at home. I'm definitely a fan now.
