Hundreds of fossils, geodes, ancient stones, petrified animals, etc., almost like walking through a museum! A fascinating place for young and old! A word of caution tough... the old adage "you break it you buy it" should be remembered here. Although many of the items are stone, they're still breakable, and some are quite expensive! Ask for help if you want to touch something! LOL The staff is great, knowledgeable and ready to assist. Well worth your time if you're in the area!

They have some of the most beautiful and largest stones, geode, fossils, and meteorites I have ever seen. The best thing is you look and touch if you desire. We were able to go Hans on with a stegosaurus horn, a tyrannosaurus leg bone, and tooth and liybian desert glass from ancient meteorites that have fallen to the Earth. So, as a small business owner I was really really shocked by my experience. I'm coming for the…read moreholidays to visit my mom in Taos. I wanted to give her a gift certificate from this place for $300. So, I called and asked if they could do a gift certificate. They said sure. So, I asked if they could mail it to my mom's place in Taos (of course, I'd pay for the shipping/handling) because I'm getting there after Xmas and wanted it ready to give to her. She says, 'no, you'll have to come and get it.' I thought maybe she misunderstood. So, I asked, 'you're saying that for $300 you can't stick it in an envelope and drop it in a mailbox?' She said, 'that's right, you'll have to come and get it.' Then I explained that that wouldn't work as I have a 14 hour travel day to get to Taos and can't, after that, drive across town to pick this up. But she refused. Boggles the mind. I own a small business and if one of employees turned down a $300 sale because they didn't want to slip the certificate into the mail, I'd fire them. So, I asked one final time, 'you'd rather have me spend the money at Amazon than with you?" And she ghosted me after that. So, I've ordered from Amazon and won't be coming to this place. The laziness is just jaw dropping.

As I learned when the owner responded to me, it turns out it was a perfect storm of bad luck (illness) that led to the non-responsiveness. Since that review, not only has the proprietor (Max) reached out, but he also agreed not to charge me until the products were in route. All in all, I regret my earlier intemperate comments, and am now upgrading this store to five stars, to match the outstanding visit we had to the physical store when we visited Taos in October, and the excellent follow-up experience I am now having since Max re-emerged after his illness. (You could tell when I wrote the initial review that I had mixed feelings about leaving it; turns out I should have held off.)

Came for a leather workshop offered by Max (beginners level) and had a great experience working on…read moreveg tanned leather for the first time. Max obviously knows leather well and explained everything from where the store sources their leather, to leatherwork process, to stitching more difficult items like handbags. The store offers various items like vase/kleenex box covers, small totes, notebook covers, belts, etc. Everything is handmade, down to the prints that are pressed into the leather when creating products. Max even took out his kit of metal stamps and showed us how he hand-stamps the surface of the leather, which was awesome. I was also asking a lot of questions and he was able to characterize a lot of his work for me. Really cool experience that I would recommend for everyone!
