This was a very odd dining experience. The restaurant is inviting, almost Whisler like . Lots of staff . We ordered the Caesar salad which was very good. The phyllo covered melted Brie. Very tasty in fact our favorite dish of the evening.. the most disappointing dish was the spicy shrimp appetizer . It was way to spicy & I love heat but this was horrible! Very sour not in a good way , very salty. For mains we had the rack of lamb , very nice , the filet also done nicely. The bolognese gnocchi was nice but it was garnished with radish sprouts ? Odd The pana coda was horrible way too much gelatin it could bounce ! So a little hit & miss .

Impeccable food and great setting. The service was fantastic and food on point. Very attentive staff and accommodating to having a child in tow.

A very nice neighbourhood restaurant that has been here for years. Glad they survived Pandemic. Had them to cater our anniversary 6 years ago and another event too. Food is really unique, and the cocktails too. Nice service!

Don't let the address fool ya, this is one of the most desirable parts of Surrey to live in, just the well-heeled need to apply here but I digress, as usual. Rep speaks for itself, it's an awesome fine dining experience without the attitude. A bit intimate but can be livened up in the gorgeous summer when I found out this jewel, with its outdoor patio. Kinda in a residential area but on this block, there's a few kids daycare, etc. Loved their puff pastry, my go-to.

Had dinner here on the patio which was really nice, the area is very quite and relaxing. Started with the Caesar salad, terrine, and figs which were the days special. For our mains we had the lobster linguine and asparagus risotto. Firstly, the mains were amazing, so much freshness and flavour, that's all I can really say. Also huge pieces of lobster in the pasta. The appies were also very good, but mostly the figs. They were stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in prosciutto! Sooo good! Would definitely recommend coming here, wasn't expecting anything to special but was pleasantly surprised! 8.3/10

We came here for Valentine's Day. We had our reservation at 5:45pm and to our surprise the restaurant was pretty much filled when we got there. We ordered the set menu and a bottle of wine for the night. The food was very delicious and portions were good. Service was quick. Interior was modern and clean. I would recommend this place.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times. Usually, we have gone there for lunch, but we, have, on occasion, gone there for dinner. Each time, we have been more than pleased with our experience. Our latest visit was for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we had my husband's mother along with us as well. (Tap is her FAVOURITE restaurant). As usual, we were welcomed at the door, with a friendly greeting and led to our table, which was beautifully set. The restaurant, itself, is a cozy, well-appointed room with an open kitchen and a patio off the side. The place radiates intimacy, and a quiet sophistication. Our waiter, Andrew, was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. He told us about the day's specials, suggested a few dishes and generally made us feel taken care of. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. We appreciated his congenial manner and his genuine smile. After a good look at the menu, (it's hard to decide when everything sounds so tempting!), we all decided to have the Saltspring Island Mussels. I have tried several different dishes at Tap -- the Chili Prawn Spinach Salad (to die for!), the Prawns and Scallop (drool), the Giant Sea Scallop (so delicious!), and the Confit Thiesenn Farms Duck (best duck I have ever had -- but, oh, those mussels... I was surprised when Andrew set down three pots in front of us (I was expecting plates!). Then, he whisked the lid off the pots one by one, letting the steam rise up to pique our tastebuds and revealing the plump, succulent mussels that were simmered to perfection in a lovely dijon, saffron, lobster broth. I lost count of the number of mussels in my pot, but there were a lot, so many that I couldn't eat them all -- although, I certainly wanted to eat every single one. The Saltspring Island Mussels is now officially, my favourite dish on the Tap menu. My husband and mother-in-law really enjoyed them as well. Oh, yes, my mother-in-law and I had a glass of 2012 Attems Pinot Grigio from Venezia, Italy. The wine was perfectly chilled, crisp and dry, and an excellent complement to the shellfish. Our lunch was so delicious (kudos to the chef!) and our dining experience, as always, was outstanding. Thank you, Andrew, for your excellent service! It won't be long until we visit Tap again! ............

We came for dinner with the family on a Saturday night. This place seems like a popular spot and neighborhood gem so I would make reservations just in case (they're on open table). I picked this place as I heard the head chef (Alistair Veen) won 2016 sommelier of the year in BC so I figured the guy must have a pretty good palate for food as well. The restaurant is easy to find, easy to park and beautiful inside. You can really tell this is the chef's baby. What's nice is that he also goes around table to table talking to his guests and providing service which isn't common these days. You can tell he takes great pride in his work. The wine list is pretty good (how could it not be). We all ordered something different from wine to beer. Those of us who ordered the red chose the French cote du Rhone or the Italian pick (I won't slaughter the name and try to type it here. It was very long!) both were delicious and smooth options. None of us had cocktails so I can't comment but the offered a number of classic choices. For dinner I had the French onion soup to start. It was excellent. I love French onion soup and this didn't disappoint. The broth was sweet and there was just enough bread and cheese on top (I think a good balance is important because too little, it's just broth and too much makes it too heavy). My partners father ordered the seafood bisque which was a special that day that he said he thoroughly enjoyed. For mains we had the sablefish and the duck leg confit. Both were excellent. The sablefish was buttery and definitely not overcooked. The duck was flavorful and not too salty which confit can get sometimes. I also had a taste of someone else's lamb rack (excellent!). I was eyeing dessert before we even ordered dinner as I knew I wanted the chocolate lava cake. It was cooked perfect. Oozy and hot on the inside and bouncy light cake on the outside. I would eat here again if it wasn't so far for us. Luckily we were already in Langley visiting family so it was just on our way as we headed back west. I rated it four out of five stars because even though food and service was pretty stellar, the mains took a bit longer to arrive and the chef, although seemed knowledgeable came across somewhat arrogant.

Went for the first time with a couple friends on a busy Saturday night. We had reservations for 8 o'clock and when we arrived the restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a few minutes before they had our table ready. They were very attentive while we were waiting and actually brought a couple appies and a tasting of some red wine, which was a nice touch. Once seated we liked the cozy environment, tables were tightly packed into the modest sized restaurant. For the appetizers my wife tried the Sambuca prawns and I tried the terrine. The prawns were very tasty but only four in the serving. The terrine was fabulous - came with a wide assortment of accompaniments - small gherkins, sprouts, pomegranate seeds, roasted garlic and more as well as a generous serving of crustini. For the main course my wife ordered the filet with the Bay of Fundy scallops add on. I ordered the full rack of lamb. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal although she mentioned later that it was a rather small serving and needed the scallops to quench her appetite. My rack of lamb was absolutely fabulous, very generous serving, they were done perfectly, probably the best rack of lamb I've ever had!! The reduction and seasoning was delicious!! Overall the service was great and the food was definitely above average and I'm looking forward on returning soon to try some other menu items. read more

Last night our extended family, three couples and a single, had its first meal out since the pandemic started. We chose the Tap Restaurant and didn't regret it. There are still very few tables inside, but there is a large covered patio. Since the weather was good it was crowded, but we had a reservation (recommended). It was hard to choose what to eat as so many things on the limited menu looked interesting. Two us had the rack of lamb special, one had the duck leg confit, one the beef tenderloin, one the halibut and one had the short ribs. All of us chose to start with a Caesar salad and freshly baked focaccia bread with oil and delicious 17 year old balsamic vinegar. None of us was sorry for what we ordered, it was all great, with a special shout out for the rack of lamb, which I have had many times but never such a generous portion. the service was also friendly and prompt. Now that things are opening up, there a many other places to try but I can't wait to return. Now I'm off to try and find some aged balsamic vinegar! read more

Stuck out in the nether regions of South Surrey/White Rock is Tap. If you find yourself out that way... Not a bad place to go for some decent food. Not something worth travelling any great distance though. The food is well prepared and tastes good. Nothing overwhelmed the taste buds. Tapas are all good. The entrees are good. Everything was good, just not great. read more

*update* the name did change back to Tap Restaurant, from Tap Urban Cafe, their website http://www.taprestaurant.ca/ has the lunch/dinner menu along with wine list. they accept reservations by phone 604-536-1954 or open table online i had procrastinated a couple years before trying this place, when people think of fine food in a trendy upscale'ish atmosphere they think cactus club, the keg, moxies ect. those places survive by selling you salt, sugar and industrial seasonings. if your comfortable with what is essentially "fast food" by all means stick with where your comfortable. When your ready to eat something that tastes *fresh* then make the trip down 34th ave to Tap. here's a few things i noticed on my visit: open kitchen, you can see and smell food being prepared (the place smells great as the result) you see the cooks, they see you and engage you, personally i like that and the dining experience was elevated significantly as opposed to being served food that came out of some cave in the back by someone's face i never saw :) free parking outdoor patio with umbrellas, witnessed a nice sunset view even from the dining room visible fresh herbs in the kitchen (supposedly there is a rooftop herb garden!) there is a wine room opposite the small bar, wine is part of finer dining but you don't need to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy this place or order wine. a well written simple menu featuring what BC is known for, lots of seafood! our table ordered: Le Jaguar cocktail - a fresh fruit liquor cocktail that tastes something like a jolly rancher or sour patch kids, a little sweet & sour which is what i wanted, it's not going to be everybody's first choice but it was playful and went down smooth, far less heart thumping than a chain restaurant bellini house salad - salads generally aren't that exciting, this house salad had a fresh citrus taste and bright color's to it crab cakes - unlike any crab cakes i have ever had *thumbs up* lobster bisque - creamy rich and a very present lobster flavor Yum! mussels (on special) - the sauce these were cooked in was soo good, seriously, when your sucking on the muscle shells to get every drop of sauce, i wish i'd had a loaf of bread around to soak it up with (but this place isn't about endless table bread, tho they'll happily give you a few pieces if you ask) so i broke off a mussel shell and started scooping it up, nuff said on how good the dish was? i am the kind of customer that wants recommendations and am always asking servers in restaurants "what's good tonight?" Tap seems to be a good choice for both the spontaneous and the assertive diner. The chef told me himself "i want your feedback, in person" which translates to him standing behind his food and if something wasn't right he wanted to know and improve it. that is class! cost: yes good food costs more than bad food, so save up. no restaurant is perfect but this place made my taste buds believe it could be that, had a really good experience here and i'll come back again read more

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and very good service. However, a loud-mouth jerk of a cook made our experience a little less than perfect. We ate inside where the cook area is open to the dining area, so unfortunately, we heard all his rude comments and complaints to his fellow cooks. Weather permitting, eat outside! read more

Fantastic as always! Service was great, food excellent - never disappointed and always walk away sated and happy. Special thank you to the chef - when we mentioned we had hoped they would have the special holiday ginger toffee pudding cake they had last year he came out with a special order just for us - made us feel special. Great wine list and knowledgeable staff. We miss Justin on the floor but happy for him as he goes for his Red Seal. We will continue to go to the Tap read more

Compliments to the Chef! We don't live in the area so we yelped to see what was good and was it ever! We started off with the lobster bisque and it was amazing! A must try! I was surprised at the location. The area looks residential but all of a sudden there was a plaza. The place is cozy but nicely decorated and trendy. I shared tapas with my friend. We had the risotto, mussels and each had a 'giant' scallop. The risotto was a little underdone but it had truffle and which makes everything better. The scallop was perfectly cooked but the sauce was mediocre. The mussels were the real star. The portion was average but the sauce was very good. I'd go again. Probably not for dinner though based on reviews of the price. read more

We came here for our anniversary and wow! what a wonderful experience. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne/best spot by the faux fireplace and Alistar/waitress gave amazing recommendations. The only minor cons were that the restaurant is a bit tight and my fish was a touch too salty but other than that - I would highly recommend! read more

Had 2 appetizers -the risotto and prawns and scallop. Applies were great....But really...$14. for 2 average size prawns and 1 scallop....that's a bit much. For ours mains I had the halibut....it was just ok...my hubby had the beef...again just ok. The veggies were all undercooked.....which for squash isn't a good thing. We had a $100. Gift card to use.....but if we had to pay out of our own pocket I wouldn't be too happy. Won't go back. read more

I've been here a few times and I have always had a good meal. The service has been exceptional, the atmosphere is perfect and they have a nice wine selection. There is something on the menu for everyone but I am partial to the giant scallop and crab cake appies. read more

I love the location, close to home and you don't have to go through the parking ballet that is White Rock. Food is contemporary French cuisine, being from Montreal I have a deep appreciation for it. The puff pastry tartes at lunch are wonderful! read more

Maybe it was an off night for them. There motto is why go downtown to dine out; Well - I would. The meals are not a fine dining calibre, but the prices are. Way too expensive for what you get, Tenderloin was tough, rack of lamb was grossly undercooked. Service was acceptable but not first class by any means. Like my two star rating - I have experienced a lot better. If you are going to dish out big money for a nice dinner out, there are so many other options than Tap. read more

I ate at two other tasting menu spots while I was here and this place was a clear winner. It's a one Michelin star restaurant and absolutely lives up to the hype. We did the tasting menu and every single course was delicious. There were a lot of flavor combinations I'd never had before, and the presentation was on point. They took the time to explain each dish, which I really appreciated. The chef clearly focuses on seasonality and local ingredients, so the menu changes by season. This tasting menu was themed around "Preservation," which made the experience even more interesting. The ambiance was top notch. The space felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed, which really elevated the whole experience without feeling stuffy or overdone. The pacing was perfect, about two hours total, and I left very full and very happy. Can't wait to come back.

My boyfriend and I were in a seafood mood and ordered the following: Seafood Tower: A showstopper. Beautifully presented, overflowing with fresh oysters, chilled prawns, lobster rolls, caviche, and tuna tartar. Everything tasted fresh and ocean-sweet but the lobster rolls buns were getting wet and soggy from the plate to ice condensation - an oversight on presentation logistics. Wagyu Carpaccio: Melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The wagyu was sliced paper thin and had that rich, buttery texture you hope for. The shaved truffle garnishe added just enough flavour without overshadowing the beef. Served with a few pieces of sourdough bread, it was one of my favourites. Roasted Chicken: I know--ordering chicken at a seafood-forward spot felt risky, but it ended up being one of the surprise standouts. Perfectly roasted with crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat. It was served with a zesty sauce and roasted vegetables and really homey and tasty. Scallops Risotto: Creamy, aromatic, and cooked to that ideal al dente bite. The scallops were seared beautifully--golden on the outside and tender inside. Service was warm and attentive, and the coastal-chic atmosphere made the whole experience feel relaxed but still special. If you're anywhere near the area, Seaside Provisions is worth a visit especially since they have a Happy Hour.

Over three visits I've tried their appertivos, tostas, cino jotas, tapas, bocadillo and marisqueria. Despite how simple everything is, it's quite delicious, and becomes the reason why I go downstairs to buy several products before going home. Service always been super friendly, but not always there when you need them, as the employees do double-time working downstairs and so they are not constantly present in the dining area. Overall, I always enjoyed my meals here. It's simple food in a quiet cozy place.

No luck, since the release was at the other location. No worries. Everyone here was friendly. The place was very clean and they had plenty of beer to go, as well as souvenirs. They had plenty of their beer on tap. There were at least 9 choices. I went with their sour after tasting it and a few hazy ipas. The tacos were good. The chicken was the best and the fish was also good. I wouldn't get the pork taco again. The street fries were okay. They were a little dry. All in all a great experience.

It's located literally directly above Sip, if that helps. For food, our host had an appetizer platter made. It was mediocre at best. The vegetables were all soggy. Somewhat disappointing. I had the bartender mix up a "strong drink". It was a shot of JD mixed with something out a green mystery bottle. Hopefully it wasn't antifreeze. Came to $4.50. Not bad! My biggest problem (though this is not the only place guilty of this) is that the music is too freaking loud. I couldn't hear anything, and had to shout in people's ears. Yes there's a DJ there (and he's quite good, hello Snoop Dogg, blast from the past), but seriously, please turn it down a notch. The other thing I didn't like is that the interior is quite plain. Yes, it's supposed to look like a refinery, but putting 500 glass jars filled with random food items on the shelves on the wall doesn't cut it. It makes the place look like a 1800s supermarket instead. This place needs some help in the branding department. Overall the experience was okay, but it was nothing memorable at all. There are better places in town.

We ordered our martinis, which were delicious vibrant, balanced, and themed to the city. They were delicious and the mixture was mixed perfectly. He had the White Rock and enjoyed it; I had the Green Timbers. Our charcuterie was expertly plated and gorgeous to look at, along with fresh and delicious. The cheese, cured meats, and fruits were fresh, crisp, tangy, and perfectly paired with one another for a solid appetizer. We then had our encores. The steak I had (he had the duck) was the most supple, soft, juicy, and perfectly cooked medium rare I've had in my memory. I swear. If you love steak.. you'll love it. Perfectly seasoned, supple and soft... gorgeous. Along with the pillowy, crispy potatoes and veggies? Classic! The waitstaff were friendly, efficient, attentive, and cordial, with a smile and clearly loved their job. Ours, Mike, said he'd been at the place for over 10 years.. clearly, he liked coming to work. Our waitress I think the table beside us had her running in circles being extremely demanding over a red wine so I'm not sure if that's why our service was not great. I feel that considering it was not just any anniversary but our 25th, they did nothing to make the evening feel special which was disappointing.
