This was a very odd dining experience. The restaurant is inviting, almost Whisler like . Lots of staff . We ordered the Caesar salad which was very good. The phyllo covered melted Brie. Very tasty in fact our favorite dish of the evening.. the most disappointing dish was the spicy shrimp appetizer . It was way to spicy & I love heat but this was horrible! Very sour not in a good way , very salty. For mains we had the rack of lamb , very nice , the filet also done nicely. The bolognese gnocchi was nice but it was garnished with radish sprouts ? Odd The pana coda was horrible way too much gelatin it could bounce ! So a little hit & miss . read more

Tap is an under rated gem, one of the best restaurants you can find for food taste and quality, service and ambiance. You'll never be disappointed by your Tap experience. We've travelled all over the place, had the opportunity to eat at various namesake restaurants such as Joe Beef, or Michelin star recipients and nominees and we consistently end our meals going "this has nothing on Tap." If you go to Tap, do not, I repeat do not, skip out on their ceasar salad because it's a "ceasar salad." read more

Tap continues to be the best classic bistro south of the Fraser River. The ambience suggests fine yet comfortable dining. The staff and service is superb. Then there's the food! Positively amazing ... presentation presents a feast for your eyes, aromas tickle your nose and the first bite is simply fabulous. The wines are all very good, the price point is very fair. The wine service speaks to true professionalism of the servers craft. This is our 'go to' place ... the only place I take our guests. My friends love Allister and his team. I love Tap! Located on the border of White Rock/South Surrey, Tap is one of my favourite spots. Their menu is extensive with everything from tappas/appies, to sablefish, duck confit, and delicious deserts. I have tried so many things on their menu and all were delicious. Ingredients are sourced locally and the food is always hot, bursting with delightful flavours. The service is always great and the staff are helpful and friendly. There is also a great wine menu, making it a great restaurant for a date night! Note: Tap is closed on Monday and Sundays. read more

Rep speaks for itself, it's an awesome fine dining experience without the attitude. A bit intimate but can be livened up in the gorgeous summer when I found out this jewel, with its outdoor patio. Just had the lamb diner. It was awesome. Ordered on line yesterday, picked it up at 5:30 today, right on time, called from out front, they came out, delivered with no touch in nice paper bags. Lamb was great, potato's in filo pastry, a good salad with tuna, greens and egg, vegetables under the filo. It was hot and traveled well to our house. We got the wine paring for a treat, it was better than what I would have picked so hats off for that as well. Don't think it could have been any better read more

Had dinner here on the patio which was really nice, the area is very quite and relaxing. Started with the Caesar salad, terrine, and figs which were the days special. For our mains we had the lobster linguine and asparagus risotto. Firstly, the mains were amazing, so much freshness and flavour, that's all I can really say. Also huge pieces of lobster in the pasta. The appies were also very good, but mostly the figs. They were stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in prosciutto! Sooo good! Would definitely recommend coming here, wasn't expecting anything to special but was pleasantly surprised! 8.3/10 read more

Best part of our awesome little neighbourhood is this amazing family run business - one of our favourite restaurants! Even if this wasn't steps away from our home, we would drive over an hour just to eat here. Incredible wine and food pairing... My daughter is purely addicted to their Caesar Salad. We came here for Valentine's Day. We had our reservation at 5:45pm and to our surprise the restaurant was pretty much filled when we got there. We ordered the set menu and a bottle of wine for the night. The food was very delicious and portions were good. Service was quick. Interior was modern and clean. My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times. Usually, we have gone there for lunch, but we, have, on occasion, gone there for dinner. Each time, we have been more than pleased with our experience. Our latest visit was for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we had my husband's mother along with us as well. (Tap is her FAVOURITE restaurant). As usual, we were welcomed at the door, with a friendly greeting and led to our table, which was beautifully set. The restaurant, itself, is a cozy, well-appointed room with an open kitchen and a patio off the side. The place radiates intimacy, and a quiet sophistication. Our waiter, Andrew, was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. He told us about the day's specials, suggested a few dishes and generally made us feel taken care of. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. We appreciated his congenial manner and his genuine smile. After a good look at the menu, (it's hard to decide when everything sounds so tempting!), we all decided to have the Saltspring Island Mussels. I have tried several different dishes at Tap -- the Chili Prawn Spinach Salad (to die for!), the Prawns and Scallop (drool), the Giant Sea Scallop (so delicious!), and the Confit Thiesenn Farms Duck (best duck I have ever had -- but, oh, those mussels... I was surprised when Andrew set down three pots in front of us (I was expecting plates!). Then, he whisked the lid off the pots one by one, letting the steam rise up to pique our tastebuds and revealing the plump, succulent mussels that were simmered to perfection in a lovely dijon, saffron, lobster broth. I lost count of the number of mussels in my pot, but there were a lot, so many that I couldn't eat them all -- although, I certainly wanted to eat every single one. The Saltspring Island Mussels is now officially, my favourite dish on the Tap menu. My husband and mother-in-law really enjoyed them as well. Oh, yes, my mother-in-law and I had a glass of 2012 Attems Pinot Grigio from Venezia, Italy. The wine was perfectly chilled, crisp and dry, and an excellent complement to the shellfish. Our lunch was so delicious (kudos to the chef!) and our dining experience, as always, was outstanding. Thank you, Andrew, for your excellent service! We came for dinner with the family on a Saturday night. This place seems like a popular spot and neighborhood gem so I would make reservations just in case (they're on open table). I picked this place as I heard the head chef (Alistair Veen) won 2016 sommelier of the year in BC so I figured the guy must have a pretty good palate for food as well. The restaurant is easy to find, easy to park and beautiful inside. You can really tell this is the chef's baby. What's nice is that he also goes around table to table talking to his guests and providing service which isn't common these days. You can tell he takes great pride in his work. The wine list is pretty good (how could it not be). We all ordered something different from wine to beer. Those of us who ordered the red chose the French cote du Rhone or the Italian pick (I won't slaughter the name and try to type it here. It was very long!) both were delicious and smooth options. None of us had cocktails so I can't comment but the offered a number of classic choices. For dinner I had the French onion soup to start. It was excellent. I love French onion soup and this didn't disappoint. The broth was sweet and there was just enough bread and cheese on top (I think a good balance is important because too little, it's just broth and too much makes it too heavy). My partners father ordered the seafood bisque which was a special that day that he said he thoroughly enjoyed. For mains we had the sablefish and the duck leg confit. Both were excellent. The sablefish was buttery and definitely not overcooked. The duck was flavorful and not too salty which confit can get sometimes. I also had a taste of someone else's lamb rack (excellent!). I was eyeing dessert before we even ordered dinner as I knew I wanted the chocolate lava cake. It was cooked perfect. Oozy and hot on the inside and bouncy light cake on the outside. I would eat here again if it wasn't so far for us. Luckily we were already in Langley visiting family so it was just on our way as we headed back west. I rated it four out of five stars because even though food and service was pretty stellar, the mains took a bit longer to arrive and the chef, although seemed knowledgeable came across somewhat arrogant. read more

This place is hidden away on a side street off a main road, but when you find it - you will love it! The staff is super friendly and make you feel right at home. The patio is gorgeous just off to the side of the restaurant and, unless you get there early, it will surely be filled up on a nice day. The menu is pretty extensive, with lunch being my personal favorite. And if you like dessert, their Chocolate Lava Cake with Raspberry Coulis and Vanilla Bean Gelato is a must have! Tap is also a great place to go to if you just want to have drinks with your friends. The laid back atmosphere combined with the posh ambiance makes this the perfect place to enjoy a few glasses of wine. read more

Brought my secretary here for dinner. It is located in a quiet and upscale area of Surrey, not so far south that one is in white rock so it doesn't feel like such a drive out esp if one lives in vancouver. Upon entering the restaurant I was in the middle of giving my name and the waitress interrupted me and shrieked while pointing at my belly "are you ok? Hahaha..". I am pregnant, perfectly healthy, and I didn't expect to have comments about my body made as soon as I entered the door. I firmly stated "I'm fine. Now, I have a reservation for...". Besides that thoughtless and insensitive blunder, the rest of the service was good and attentive. I did hear the staff frequently checking in with perhaps the manager regarding the status of tables - they have a policy that you can only stay 1.5 hours which is rushed for most folks, but one can ask for an exception, which I did. The focaccia appetizer was generous in size with a lovely fruity olive oil and balsamic dip, and we also had the baked brie appetizer which was nice but not memorable. I had the pork belly and scallops, priced at $40, and the three scallops were undersized for that price - not the typical jumbo scallops one expects. The pork belly was a rather large slab and the whole thing was ok re flavour and nicely cooked, but I would likely not order it again and try something else. My secretary seemed to very much enjoy her bacon wrapped chicken, and she can be on the fussier side so that dish seems to be a success. We shared a dessert of lemon pie which I had just one bite of, with the filling good but the pastry so thick and tough neither of us could cut through it at times with our fork. The actual name of this place is Tap Restaurant ( and they do have a website by the way) http://www.taprestaurant.ca/ I went here on a first date, he let me pick the place and I had never been here before and it looked nice, so I thought it would be good. It was a nice fairly quiet restaurant, but even though I had made a reservation, we had to stand by the door and wait for 15 minutes. Great start ... lol We got an appetizer to start, the Scallops & Prawns ( I don't know why they have an "s" on the end of both of those proteins since we got 2 prawns and 1 scallop, what a rip off.) I wanted to try the duck, it was on the menu, but they didn't have it that night. So I tried th fish of the day with lemon risotto. It didn't taste like lemon at all and was not as good as other risotos I have had. The fish was nice though. My date had the 10oz ribeye steak. It was very small and chewy. Not worth $40. (The keg is way way better for meat)... How can you mess up steak? You shouldn't be in the kitchen if you can't cook steak properly What I really didn't appreciate was the servers lack of interest in us as soon as he learned that neither of us drink. I'm sure to him that meant the bill wouldn't be a big without wine and thus his tip wouldn't be as large. So he pretty much ignored us after that. We were going to order desert, but he was too busy with his 2 or 3 other tables to come check on us after our entrees. We waited for 20 minutes! So we went home. I felt so bad for picking this place since it cost $100 for 2 entrees and a tiny appetizer! We laugh about it now, but we won't be back read more

An unexpected little gem in Rosemary Heights. The ambience is quite nice and posh; I liked the open kitchen concept in the middle of the restaurant. The service was top notch too with the servers coming around frequently to fill up our water glasses. As for the food, I had rack of lamb and the hubby has the pasta special with prawns. Both dishes were quite tasty. We had their gnocchi as appetizer and it was a good portion as an appie to be share by 2 people. We also shared lava cake and their version of lemon meringue. I am a big fan of lava cake and their lava cake was flowing with a warm molten chocolate. Yum!!! The prices are little on the high side but I can see how that would be considering the service and the concept of the restaurant. Will be back! read more

Yum! Love and reccomend this place. I always appreciate a restaurant that focuses on fresh seasonal ingredients. The waiter was very accomodating and the food was delicious. The only thing I would critique is the food was a bit too salty for my taste, I have a very sensitive palette. But my friend loved it and thought the level of salt was fine. I had the duck confit and it was perfectly cooked, fall off the bone and very juicy with a crispy skin. I didn't care much for the golden beets though. HIGHLY reccommend the flambee puff pastry to start, again, a bit too salty for my taste but still very very delicious. Will be coming back :) read more

Been here at least a dozen times and every time they nail it- service, food and drinks are always amazing. This gem hidden away in the Morgan creek/rosemary heights suburb area and is definitely a diners paradise. If you want a place that is not pretentious, that won't make you feel like you are on show and tell, and is cozy and romantic, than this place is for you. It's always packed even on week nights with people who come for the food not the sights. The food is always fresh and menu is always changing. Their chef is wonderful and always visits the tables multiple times to make sure your food is perfect. Love the open concept kitchen where you can see him keeping an eye on the place :) The servers are always knowledgable - the majority of them have extensive wine knowledge that goes beyond recommending one to go with your meal. They are passionate about food and wine and it shows. It's always an education every time we go. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us with a wheelchair accessible table We have tried just about everything on the menu so far- my favourite is the prawn salad (to die for) and the French onion soup that is make in house. The meat dishes and seafood are always cooked to perfection and will never disappoint. Had such high hopes for this restaurant--It is close to home, came recommended by a neighbour, and had good reviews here on yelp. But, it was very disappointing :( We both ordered the bisque to start (those were good and the reason we are giving TAP 2 stars and not 1), and then my husband had the rack of lamb and I had the steak. I ordered it medium and it came so rare that I couldn't even eat it all. I ate the sides and left the centre piece on my plate. Similarly, my husband's lamb was nearly raw. He couldn't eat it all either! Dessert was equally terrible. My husband had the carrot cake and I had the gluten free chocolate cake which was burnt on the edges (again I couldn't finish it because the edge was burnt tasting). I can't believe that such a gorgeous restaurant would think this kind of food was okay. A $130 bill for a very disappointing Valentine's Day dinner :( We won't be back. read more

FYI - Not sure if it's changed it's name officially, but when I was there it's called "Tap Restaurant" and not "Tap Urban Cafe". First off, I have a pet peeve if a resto doesn't have a website in this day and age - I hate having no idea what I'm getting into! It's located in the Morgan Creek area - very easy to get to just off Hwy 99 south near White Rock. Lots of street parking out front. Decor is simple and uncluttered, but nothing that remarkable for design. I found the dinner menu quite limited personally. They do a tapas style menu so I sampled a variety of dishes including steak with a mushroom peppercorn sauce, a seared tuna dish, etc... The food was okay but nothing really stood out for me other than the cheesecake which was fabulous. Wonderful taste and texture with a beautiful drizzle and graham cracker crumb base. Mmmm. Service is very good and food comes at a good pace. It is a reasonable option if you want to hold a private event since the resto is small enough that you can book it entirely and comfortably host a sit down event for about 50 people. Overall it's A-OK but not somewhere I'd return unless someone else picks it again or I'm already in the area. read more

Came here on short notice, reviews looked good and thought we'd give it a go. We shared everything as we thought it was a tapas restaurant....not so much. The mussels were delicious but I felt a bit pricey. The beet salad was a little disappointing. The risotto with add scallops was tasty but a bit runny, maybe too much butter. Overall the food was decent but not great. My old fashion was top notch though. The decor and ambience is pretty lacking. I described it to my wife as feeling like a hotel restaurant. They need to improve this in my opinion. They do have a back portion of the restaurant for private functions and it looked like a nice option for a small or medium size business function. read more

Although this restaurant has been around for a few years and is minutes away from our home, we've never come across it because it's off the beaten path and tucked in a small strip mall in the Rosemary Heights neighbourhood. Friends of ours suggested we try the restaurant after reading about their award winning sommelier and chef. The food is good and portions are generous. We love mussles so we decided to see how Tap's mussles stacked up those we've had at other restaurants. Flavour was good but nothing to write home about (mussles at Chambar and Illuminate in Tsawwassen were much more flavourful). We ordered a few appetizers and had dinner tapas style instead of ordering large entrees. Of all the appies we ordered, the highlight was the french onion soup which was wonderfully hot with good flavour and topped with perfectly melted gruyere cheese. Our servers were friendly and attentive however food was slow to our tables (I think there was a large party happening in a private room so the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up). As to be expected from a restaurant with an award winning sommelier, the wine list was excellent. Food is on the pricey side for a neighbourhood restaurant.
