Basic weed pulling and weed whacking. This year Yovani suggested I add 1-2 more people to the crew. I went ahead and took his advice and added 1 more person. 5 people, 4 hours, $50.00 per hour, $1,000.00 Total. When Yovani was done I went to inspect the usual work. Only 45% complete. When confronted with why the routine job was not completed as usual especially with 1 extra crew member his response was "it's a lot of work." I was clearly scammed. So basically, we were moving into a house in Santa Cruz County that needed some hard-core tree and bush removal so we could do a termite tenting before we moved in. We are on a tight timeline and wasn't even really sure what the best approach would be. Guadalupe was one of the three landscaper estimates we got and, though the estimate prices were comparable, we decided to go with him because we really liked him and his ideas. We also liked the fact that he mentioned he can arrange / help with much more than landscaping when we need extra help. That's was great to hear in a time where it's not easy to find reliable skilled crews. So... fast forward, he gave us an estimate and timeframe and stuck to it. He took notes on what we needed to help the house, how I wanted the trees trimmed, and offered suggestions (like when he thought I'd be unhappy with my results of severe trimming). Then the crew removed and/or trimmed trees, bushes, and even an old shed for us. We were able to meet the timeline of our termite tenting and end-of-month move in. I already knew they wouldn't be a company we'd be interested in hiring, but in life, we need to be fair. Manuel arrived and was courteous. I asked him how he could bid on a job before he could actually access it and see what was required. He replied that he'd been doing this for a long time. Upon his departure, I noticed him measuring our property. I couldn't help but wonder why he needed to measure when he had already given us the price for the job. All the contractors bid on both the front and back yards. However, when we decided to postpone the backyard project and focus solely on the front yard, I contacted Stone Landscaping. The lady informed me that this change would increase the front yard price by 10% since the backyard was no longer included in the original quote. I was genuinely surprised and disappointed, as I sensed that this company lacked integrity and professionalism. Determined to find a dependable and honest landscaping company, I reached out to D&I Landscaping. I explained our decision to focus on the front yard and inquired about the cost. To my delight, they simply adjusted the price by removing the backyard, without any extra charges for the revision.
