Behold, the greatest pub in the world? Why, you ask? Because it has a fluffy black cat sitting on a tiny sofa next to a fireplace. I can see you nodding your head and saying, 'yes, this does sound like the greatest'. As a non-animal owner, I love pets in pubs. In fact, I wish I could set up my own chain of places called Pubs with Pets. Anyway, the rest of the pub is pretty good too. They do an insane selection of giant pies with mashed potato. The whole night I was there, plates and plates of pies went whizzing by my head and I was in pie-dreamland. Picture it now, 'Pubs with Pets 'N' Pies'. I'd be a millionaire. Aside from the pets and pies, it's a genuinely nice local boozer with loads of room to sit down with friends. Music choices are great and the warmth of the fireplace just makes you want to move in and curl up next to it. Go here, you won't regret it. read more

Steak pies here are definitely the way to go with a bit of Elvis in the background. A great pub quiz on the Wednesday and this pub has all the trimmings. Lots of different bitters and real ales. Alas no stouts. Other big plus, close to the overground, so can stumble home safely. read more

Went for a walk to Primrose Hill and found myself at that odd time of evening to be hungry in London. This would be 5pm or as they (and jet fighter pilots) say 17:00. This time for those not familiar is generally an hour before the better restaurants are open. They have closed for their lunch service at 3pm (15:00). So the choices are going to be limited. Now you CAN use the open now feature on Yelp but what that can do is help you find a pub that is technically open... but not yet servicing food. I that feeling of being all wide-eyes and excited and announcing to the barmaid "I'll have one of your famous pies!!!" Only to be told that they don't serve any food for another 45 minutes. And something about the look from everyone around me gave me the sense I should have known this. So a pint of cider will do and I turn around to find a place to sit when I see Nelson. Nelson is a cat. A pub cat. A cat so perfectly content to lie peacefully sleeping on the front bar rail. This gets an ancillary star if one exists. The menus come out (about 15 minutes late) as the staff switches from barmaid to two swift moving pleasant guys that make the bar run rhythmically as folks order food. I order the chicken w/leek and tarragon pie with mash. I'm not sure how they make these oversized hockey pucks of filled amazingness and I don't really care. Neither did Nelson who had approved of my selection by leaping off the rail bar and sidling up to my thigh to say he may want a bite of chicken once it's prepared. It was perfect. Great neighborhood pub off the beaten track and a couple blocks away from the hecticness of Camden town. I'll return one day and try another one of their rotating pies. read more

A top notch pub tucked down a quiet street. There are several rooms to explore, plus a tucked away back garden area in an alleyway. The keg beers are pretty regular, but there are always some top notch local or regional cask beers, which rotate constantly. This is one of those pubs that now house a Thai restaurant instead of a traditional kitchen, and their red curry is stellar. The best part about Tapping the Admiral? It's affordable (I could almost say cheap). Two pints and two entrees will barely set you back £20. Generally it's a pretty low key place, and they sometimes have pretty decent live music (not sure if it's a regular thing). read more

This pub serves some really good beers, especially when they offer up the dangerously strong nectar that is Redemption Big Chief. Can get annoyingly cramped in places around the pub and I've never really felt too much of an atmosphere here, in part because of this layout. I still like it a lot though. The name has nothing to do with sex with a seafarer. read more

This must have been an off day because we've been here many times before with nice bartenders and staff. We visited today at 1:15pm. The blonde bartender on duty was very rude. She glared at us as we walked in and rolled her eyes as we ordered just 2 beers. Nothing complicated. She wasn't busy at all. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but it made us feel very unwelcome. I'm awarding an extra star because the pub cat Nelson was quite friendly and welcoming. Maybe he can teach the bartender a thing or two. read more

Beautiful little backstreet pub, with a friendly pet cat!! The pies are excellent, and the reasonably well stocked bar with good craft beer is pretty fairly priced too. The beer garden, well, yarden type thing, is well kept, and planted nicely, box seat backed with trellises and under covered areas too that are hung with really beautiful lights. I would definitely come here again, the staff are lovely great service and such relaxed and welcoming place. It's like a proper, comfortable beer and pie pub, that's supposed to wean you into becoming a proper old man, it's just excellent. 5* because I honestly just can't fault it. read more

Great pub in Camden Town. The meat pies were really good, and the portions were nice, too. I had some left over for that evening once the beer caught up with me. I was quite impressed with the beer selection. Well, quite honestly, nearly everything on tap was new to me, so I definitely couldn't have been happier. I loved the vibe. The pub is tucked away enough, and doesn't seem to have the throngs that some of the other places have, even during popular drinking hours. The atmosphere was relaxing, and fun. Even the cat was chillin'. I have 3 cats, and I can say I think this cat tolerates petting, but I'm not sure he or she is a fan of too much of it. I missed my cats, so I took it out on this fella. Anyways, I would definitely recommend dropping by for some pints, and meat pies. The service is great, and the vibe is very relaxing. My wife and I started our trip here, and ended it here, and it was fantastic. Cheers. read more

I love this place. The food is great and the service is even better. The cook accidentally made a mistake with our food so the manager have us a couple beers without us even asking! The environment is also welcoming and it's got an outdoor beer garden in the back. Oh, and of course there's a sweet pub cat to pet and maybe squish a little bit! :D read more

Quirky little pub hidden in the back streets of Kentish Town. Loved the random decor (lampshade, bookshelf, cool lights in the garden/outdoor area). The staff are really friendly and if you're a fan of ales, it's the place to go (they let you sample the ales and beers in shot glasses too). If you're in the Camden area, it's definitely worth the short walk there. read more

Certainly my favourite pub in London. Great Fish & Chips, fireplace, cats, beer selection and friendly staff.

Everything a local pub should be....but particularly excellent due to the engaging and knowledgeable staff and superb beers.

When here a few weeks ago with a mate. Nice pub good selection of ales on tap. Vast improvement from when it was the tavern in the town.

Great beer, lovely staff. My perfect pub. Its a nice locals pub which isn't as young and hip as the nearby Grafton, but that's a good thing to me. The staff are attentive and the selection of beers is ever-changing. The food is generally good with a good pie/pint deal on Monday and Tuesdays, but its not life-changing. read more
