We stayed at this hotel above the pub. We decided to go down for a drink and a bit of food. We went to the Christmas terrace area with decorations and heaters for the holidays. It was lively and loud and the wait staff was very nice. A bit packed and crowded but not bad. Food was pretty good but probably would not recommend the crispy pork belly. We stayed in the rooms and decided to stop by for a quick meal after getting in late from the airport. We tried the fried pork belly, Chicken bao bun and green vegetable curry. I would recommend trying everything we ordered except for the Pork Belly. I did not enjoy that item but I liked everything else. Our server was very friendly and made our experience pretty great. Best local pub in all of London. It's in a nice neighborhood that's super safe and cozy. Beers and ciders are amazing and the food is bomb too. Only thing is, food takes around 20-30 min to come out but you can sit and drink while you wait! Fish and chips were HUGE and so satisfying. read more

This a wonderful place within walking distance to the distance to the shopping and restaurants. Yes, the floors to most of the rooms are walk-ups and are narrow but if you have no physical limitations the rooms are worth it. Well-appointed and nicely furnished. Quaint place to drop by for dinner. Grafton Arms is a serve-yourself pub mostly known for fish and chips. I came on a Saturday night, surprisingly it wasn't crowded. I ordered a "hunter's chicken" which was a very small serving of chicken and mostly salad. The chicken was a bit over cooked and could use more salt. But the fish was delicious and their chips were amazing! They have a decent selection of alcohol, though it wasn't as nice as expected. The vodka tasted like sparkling water. Ok, now I have a serious problem here: how do I review an english pub? I mean, they are pretty much the same to my eyes: some english beer which I constantly avoid, a couple of german/australian lager, that's it. Usual lights, usual tables, let's speak straight: they look pretty much the same thing for me. Therefore, I concentrate on the small things! Notice, I went here late during the night, avoiding the confusion this place sees every single week day because of after work drinking (seriously London, you definitely drink too much after work!). And among the small things I noticed there are the waitresses, who are young and probably students but focused on the job and smiling, an action difficult to find from a bartender in london, and the fact they didn't start to put chairs on the table BEFORE closing the place. Easy things, but that's what makes the differences for places which are not that special. Just one more thing: men, GO to the TOILET. Just go. read more

This is my meeting spot to visit a friend whenever in London on business. We love the traditional feel to this pub and the home-coming australian bar attendants. Satisfactorily happy to serve, they're quiet perky when you leave them a tip! I've not yet tried the food, but its traditional pub grub. Music, to my taste and very good. I thought I'd reviewed this pub aaaaaaaages ago, but it seems not. So, erm... I am now. I'm actually torn between three and four stars. I actually think the pub itself is a solid three stars, no more, even on a good day. So why four stars? Their roof terrace is nothing short of brilliant. Roof terraces in the summer are like gold mines for pubs. And this one is no exception. But it's not the most well-known area, so never gets really really packed. In fact, I've never had trouble nabbing a seat here. But like I said, it's not the best pub in the world - and being slightly further down a side street than you'd usually walk means you won't just stumble upon it. The best thing? You can hire the terrace and upstairs bar. It's been a while since I've done this, but it was just £50 deposit to hire out the top bar, and you get the terrace in the bargain as well. I think you have to spend £250 or lose the deposit - but that's a very low minimum spend. You can hire the area for free if you don't mind walking up and down the stairs to get to the bar. Bargain. I wish I couldn't remember anything about the drinks, or the rest of the pub. It's nothing special, but if you're outside, in the sun with your friends you'll be happy. Especially when you're paying pub prices instead of swanky member's bar prices. read more

This is the perfect after-work watering hole for those with offices in the North/West End bit of London. Spacious and interestingly laid out over three floors (plus roof terrace) there is always somewhere to sit, even when it gets busy (which often happens in the summer months in particular). Decent selection of beers, wines and other tipples, and a really nice traditional pub feel that's lacking from many other establishments in the area. read more

My favourite place to go in Fitzrovia - lovely bar staff and food is amazing all home made (unlike some pubs who just heat it up). They have a roof terrace as well which is only of the only places in the area to have one and they allow dogs (mine is the local resident). read more

A great place to wander into! I was with many friends from the UK area, and we stumbled in here for a bite to eat. I was amazed when they told me the history of the Goon Show, and this pub is directly connected with the show, as well as the insides are themed after the show. Great fish and chips! read more

It's always sad when friends move away from the city. In this case I came here to say goodbye to 2 old uni friends who had just completed their PhDs and were moving not just away from London but to countries new - one to Crete and the other to Denmark. So they had booked the upper floor of this pub on a sunny Friday evening for a proper send off. I arrived a bit late (fashionably late I like to think) and went upstairs to see everyone. I ordered a drink to be told that the upstairs bar was cash only. Great. So I wandered back downstairs to pay by card and get cash back - to be fair the bartenders were really helpful about the whole thing and let me pay downstairs and pick the drinks up at our private bar. Apparently the pub had a terrace area which would have been perfect for this summers day but you couldn't reserve that. Shame. But the inside was really cosy, a nice gastropub feel. The upstairs area had a central large table, perfect for gathering arround when we were served some sharing platters to tuck into - sliders, bbq wings, hand-cut chips all well prepared and eagerly eaten. I loved the Chesterfield chair that was in the corner of this area, one of those chairs that you just collapse into and then wonder how you'll ever get out of. I felt a bit like a member of the gentry in that chair, minus brandy and slippers of course! Drinks a bit overpriced, but then that's to be expected in Fitzrovia. The best bar service I've seen in London. The barman was attentive, not arrogant, helpful. Really made my evening.
