My parents had issues with the service the first time they came, around when Tia Juanita's first opened. But today, our food came out quickly and correctly...and it was SO GOOD! The drinks, the apps, the entrees--all of them were full of flavor and really tasty. I would describe the menu as Cajun, Tex-Mex fusion. We had the crawfish queso (bomb), shrimp/fish tacos (fresh and bomb but small), shrimp quesadillas (also bomb), and the hush puppies (slightly less bomb and v small, but still yum). The vibe inside is a little overwhelming. It's pretty loud, and it's worse when there's live music, I hear. But it's a fun, immersive type of experience if you're looking for a more upbeat dining experience :)

Tried to get her attention several times to tell her about the shrimp as she was passing by the table , she kept walking, so I asked another waiter to send a mgr to table. Nice social environment

It comes with catfish but they let you choose your fish if you want something different! It comes with 2 sides so I got fries and fried okra. The fried okra was the star of that show for me! Also, I switched out the catfish for Blue Whiting. Everything was well seasoned and delish. My husband ordered the Blue Whiting platter which was 2 whiting filets and a side. He considered getting the etouffee so while we ate she brought out a small taste of it for us to sample for next time. (And there will be a next time!) The girl at the counter (owner??) is SO STINKIN NICE! My gosh, talk about great with customers! (Cutie with fun glasses.) It's about an hours drive from where we live but we're through Waco pretty regularly so we're looking forward to our next stop at Friday's. We'll try to get by on a Friday so we can try some of their GUMBO!

We started with the Cajun sampler and the Cajun fries were on point. I got the crawfish boil I ordered 3 pounds and it was probably closer to 5 pounds and it was as good as any I have had. My wife got the shrimp boil and it was "1 pound" realistically it was closer to 2. My sons got a fish dinner and a shrimp dinner and it was great according to them. The green beans were real food. Not just dumped from a can with a little bit of salt, but real southern cooking. All of that food for less than $100 before tip. Teller only downside was they were out of boudin balls so I guess we will have to come back again!!!

The restaurant looks almost like a converted house from the outside, but nicely kept with parking around the side. The interior is simple but upbeat in its New Orleans decor. The owner cheerfully met us at the door and invited us to sit wherever we wanted. She was hajppy, helpful and patient throughout the visit. We ordered all of our favorites to try; gumbo, etouffee, catfish, shrimp, dirty rice. While I have had better crawfish etoufee, the shrimp and catfish were king! The fish was mild, cut in a thick filet and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The shrimp was also perfect and very pleasing. It was all served with a grilled piece of bread that went well with the meal. It's good to have these folks in Bryan. I would definitely dine at Remnant of Nawlins again.

I was trying to pass time to avoid traffic into Houston so I decided to stop in Caldwell to do some boutique shopping. Caldwell has some awesome boutiques FYI!. I was looking for a late lunch/early dinner and decided I wanted some steak. Now this place is by no means fancy but it's definitely hometown feel and obviously a small town staple. I ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Yall 12oz for $26 dollars is an absolute steal. I was worried about the quality due to the price but I was impressed! The meat was good the mashed potatoes tasted sweet though so not a fan of those. But for $26 I wasn't even complaining. Now back to these fried pickle, I text everyone I know "I just found the best fried pickles in Texas" as I scarfed them down. If you are ever passing through you must stop to grab a basket of them. All of this and my total was around $35! The service was efficient and friendly 10/10 recommend!

Off its first appearance, the restaurant appears as your classic no-frills, get-what-you-asked for establishment. There is lots of outdoor seating, very fair pricing, and a surprisingly extensive menu; I doubt you'll fail to find something you enjoy here. Overall it seemed like a location that would be bumping in conjunction with Baylor college nights, post church service, or otherwise Waco-oriented affairs. My only complaint was really the smell. We came near close when some workers were cleaning, however there was an apparent chemical stench within the patio, between the inside seating and outdoor seating. My partner ordered the sausage po boy, while I ordered the fried chicken plate, wish mashed potatoes & gravy + green beans. The wait was rather long, which can be attributed towards the chicken's cook time - which might be front scratch. After we got our plates, I certainly couldn't complain. The chicken was decently sized and decadent with flavor. Consistent, strong Cajun spicing littered the tray and chicken, while its interior was extremely juicy and filled with flavor; additionally, it still maintained structure and provided a nice crunch on the surface. The mashed potatoes were equally as enjoyable. The gravy complemented the potatoes well, and established an equilibrium through texture. The green beans however, were not my favorite. They initially appeared fine on the surface, but became watered down and lacking in flavor the farther down the bowl you went. I would not be surprised if these beans were canned. I would certainly find myself eating here again. Its biggest appeals are the prices, genuine quality of food, and disposition. It is not perfect, but it is more than satisfactory. If you cannot get over the minor inconveniences that you may run into here, then you probably shouldn't be eating Cajun anyways.
