This is the cheapest meal in all of Terlingua and it's good! 5 street tacos for 15.00 and you can mix and match. The ladyfriend and I split these and ordered 2 stuffed jalapenos. We got 3 flavors of tacos: Barbacoa, Asada and Al Pastor. The asada was good but not spicy at all, the barbacoa was juicy and salty in a good way and the Al Pastor was flavorful, but a tad dried out. The pineapple on top of the Al Pastor helped mask the dried-out meat. The jalapenos were delicious! They were wrapped in bacon, stuffed with cream cheese and grilled to give it a smoky flavor. The service was outstanding, fast friendly attentive. The only issue is that they do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. read more

Touristy, Overpriced, and Forgettable Was it horrible? No. But was it good? Absolutely not. What it was--was overpriced, bland, and the kind of place a tourist goes because they don't know better... which is exactly what happened to us. We tried the burrito, the enchiladas, the baked potato, and the asada plate. The only truly memorable part of the meal was the tortillas--and that's saying something. The burrito was barely a burrito at all--more like a taco with tough asada, cilantro, and onion, and nothing else. In my picture you'll see some other ingredients in the "burrito" but that's ingredients I pulled from Elsewhere on the table. The enchilada sauce was as bland as bland gets, the rice an odd shade of red and tasted like instant rice, and the beans had zero flavor. But the biggest disappointment of the night? The $22 asada plate. The Yelp photo shows a loaded baked potato--but ours arrived bone dry. No butter, no cheese, no toppings. Just a sad, plain potato. The asada itself was tough and chewy, with the only redeeming item on the plate being the jalapeño popper. I was going to leave it at that but then I remembered the salsas, the main salsa was overly spicy with no flavor which is a horrible combination, but they did have a Couple of different sauces that came out with the food that were better and more flavorful, I just thought I would give credit where credit was due even though it didn't account for much overall Was it the worst meal I've ever had? Nice spot for dinner in Terlingua! Many classic Mexican food items. Food comes out fast. Chips and guac is delicious, priced at $9. The guac is fresh and chips are crispy. I enjoyed the 5 tacos, priced at $15 and you can pick a variety of meats. My favorite was the barbacoa. The tray of toppings is nice, love the pico de gallo and pickled onions. It's basically a giant outdoor patio with some fans so could get hot in the summer but the wind gust was nice. Stopped in on a Wednesday night after driving into Terlingua on a big bend trip! It's a seat yourself joint, with lots of picnic tables outside under a pavilion. The menu is limited with very reasonable prices, they have no bar and it is BYOB. We got the chips granados, the corn elote, green chile enchiladas, and chicken fajitas. The chips were so good I could eat them every day, the corn elote was the opposite. It was quite flavorless and the corn was soggy. The fajitas and enchiladas were excellent. This is a MUST stop in Terlingua. I know Terlingua has some gems that you cannot miss but you cannot go and not have these tacos! Very welcoming place as it is kind of an open area. The staff is great. Went twice and never had to wait much for the food even when it was packed in the evening. They have tex-mex options in the menu but you have to try their tacos and do yourself a favor and have an elote! Oh, and they do not sell alcohol. My wife and I visited here for dinner. For appetizer I had the Mexican corn, it had a great sauce and seasoning, but was very undercooked and hard to eat. My wife and I went to this place because it had good reviews, and we both love good tacos. The girl who took our order was very nice and seemed hardworking, but she took our order without writing anything down. In my experience, that almost never works out well--especially when someone is ordering two plates of assorted tacos with multiple options. Sure enough, our order came out wrong. My wife ordered a fish taco that she never received, and two al pastor tacos that she might have gotten, but they didn't have pineapple on them like mine did. It's pretty obvious that if she would've written things down, this would not have happened. This is exactly the kind of thing that happens when someone relies on memory instead of just writing the order down. It felt a bit prideful and overconfident to take a complicated order like that without jotting it down, and unfortunately it led to mistakes. I could be wrong, but it seemed like maybe her mom was the head waitress and the girl might still be in high school. If that's the case, someone needs to teach her the basics of serving. When orders get messed up because someone is too confident to write things down, it reflects poorly on the whole restaurant. It was supposed to be "chopped steak" but in reality it was chopped grisly fat. I used the corn tortillas to eat the rice and beans. One adult got the chopped steak burrito. He said it was okay but very tough and grisly. The other at got the tacos. She said they were okay. The seven year old got a cheese quesadilla (with fries) for $16.00 and she wouldn't eat it. Both adults took a bite and understood why she didn't eat it. One of the adults said the cheese tasted sour (bad). The other adult had to eat something else to get the awful taste out of their mouth. Outdoor and casual seating with tasty Mexican food. We split chicken fajitas along with nopalito and fried fish tacos. Chicken fajitas came with an assortment of toppings, including green chile, pickled onions, and a pico de gallo. Portion was very generous and quite filling, also coming with rice and beans. The nopalito and fried fish tacos were each tasty. And do not forget to wash all down with a Mexican coke (which look supersize here). Straight up rude. Asked her about any specials and she said "no" dropped the menus (5 of us and only left 3) on the table and walked off. Not a friendly interaction. Luckily a young girl was our waitress and much nicer. I ordered the street corn "Elotes" and chips/guacamole and chips/salsa. Wow . All of that was incredible. I could have eaten two more ears of that corn. The guacamole was hands down of the better ones I've had. Fresh and very tasty. I ordered the 5 taco plate that is only $15. You have several options but I chose Asada, fried fish & chicken. They come open faced with cilantro and onions. They are small but 5 is the perfect amount. These tacos were without a doubt some of the best street tacos I've had. So much flavor I'm the meat. The fish was crunchy and packed full of flavor as well. It's nice to be able to end a long day of hiking with a good taco and cold Mexican coke! We stopped here after a full day in big bend and after starlight theater told us dinner would be a 3 hour wait. I'm glad we went here because the ambiance is so chill and you get a cute lookout view of Terlingua. I got the Al pastor, lengua, and steak tacos and they were all fantastic. Found this location after hiking in Big Bend National Park. After a long strenuous hike, delicious food is also a great reward. It is located down a dirt road so be aware because the seating is outdoor/ open air. My favorite were their delicious street tacos (chicken and steak), corn and hotdog. It is BYOB so feel free to pick up your favorite brew before arriving. I don't recommend ordering chips an salsa because it plain tortilla chips from a bag and plain salsa. Soap is automatic but not dispensing? Mentioned twice but after trying a 3rd time, I used my hand sanitizer. *Sigh The elote is on a cob, served with heavy sour cream but missing flavor. We asked for their salsas to compensate Tacos are sold either by the single ($3.50) or 5 ($13). Various meat types but nothing memorable. Actually, their pico de gallo was quite flavorful! Green and red sauces were quite liquid. Served in a bigger serving tray, there's probably 7 spoons of salsa. Though, when it misses flavor, the salsas go by very quickly. As for the drinks, it's BYOB! Theh do not serve water, only water bottles. I wanted to try their tres leches for $3.50 but the overall quality filled me up already.
