This was my first time staying in Idabel, OK. I was doing some work at the International Paper…read moresite in Valliant and had done some Google searches for nearby hotels. My site contact had mentioned staying in Paris, TX but it was almost an hour away from the site so I went to the internet to see if I could find something closer. The Hochabel Hotel had come up as a viable option with decent reviews. I was a little worried when I arrived because there wasn't very many vehicles in the parking lot. However, after checking in to my room I was pleased to see that it was fairly new and clean. I stopped in the Hochabel Bar and Grill for supper and was quite pleased with the service and food quality. They had a full bar and quite a few decent menu options. Allie and Misty were the only ones working the front of the house and I was a bit nervous that they would not be able to keep up with the crowd at first but they both were working feverishly to keep up and did a fantastic job. Not only did Allie and Misty rush around the bar taking orders and delivering drinks to keep up with the rush but they also still remained cordial and conversational. Great small town feel and high quality food.

Long story short, I came here once before and was served food that looked good, but turned out to be a total disaster in terms of flavour (it was nonexistent). The owner (or an owner;someone important) did come by to collect feedback and even removed the food from our bill. Fast forward to last night, I gave this place another chance, and I can say that I am glad that I did. The food was seasoned, but not seasoned too much, and the bartender was a sweet guy who knew how to make a satisfying drink (Ring the Hochabel). He got a very nice tip to say the least. Compared to my first visit, it was a total 180 on the food quality. I was not blown away, but it was good. Minor complaint regarding my fries coming out Luke Warm (my other food was piping hot; what happened?). Any longer and they would have been Catherine Cold. Come here and try it out!

They have bar and table service, and food offerings available. We only had drinks but the food offerings looked fantastic. We enjoyed that at least on our visit, the volume was minimal which allowed us to converse without yelling. Thank you for providing an enjoyable experience in the heart of town

I saw this place from a hike up toward one of the peaks, and on a hot summer day all I wanted to do…read morewas sit wherever that lovely rooftop was. We kept it in our sites as we descended, and found it to be on the 6th floor of the Avenue Hotel. Its outdoor seating area was lovely. On one side you're just in the tree tops. The other side looks over an underwhelming cityscape, but that's not Rooftop's fault. It's still just nice to be on a rooftop! It started to rain not long after we arrived. We moved under the patio cover, and that was a lovely way to watch and hear the rain until the wind really picked up and we moved inside. It was only around 4pm so we both ordered the mocktail on the menu. It's the only one and pretty simple, but it was quite delicious -- muddled strawberry and 7up. I bet it would be even better with Ginger Beer! Maybe a little high in price for the small size and no booze, but oh well. As the rain continued, we decided to share an appetizer to wait it out. We ordered an olive hummus which was surprisingly decent (I'm not an olive fan normally) with pita chips. I wasn't a huge fan of the pita chips, but they served as a perfectly fine delivery mechanism for said hummus. The staff there was really nice and seemed to get along and share duties well -- in a small place you notice things like that and it made an impression.
