The BEST tacos/Mexican food in South East Idaho! Being from California, the bar is VERY high in regards to good, authentic Mexican food. Tacos are my absolute FAVORITE! They have a salsa/hot sauce bar, each with different heat levels. They have a soda fountain in addition to Horchata! The entire location feels clean! The restaurant is owned and operated by a wonderful family. The owners speak both Spanish and English. I did have a medical emergency at the restaurant and I haven't been back since, but they all treated me so well. I'm very grateful. My observations; 1. Service is efficient and quick! 10/10- The New owners are amazing! New owners just bought the bus, and completely renovated the inside. They did such a great job, food as well it's the most authentic Mexican style food I have had in Rexburg since living here for the last four years. You need to take your next family night/date night and try all their great food options. I think the best part is the inside of the bus! Food trucks are always super fun, but when winter time comes around it makes it really hard to enjoy them, here they have indoor seating. You just can't deny the fact that the new owners truly care about their business and it shows from the way they operate and manage their business as well as the quality of their food. Wow! This is one of Rexburg's hidden gems, but there's no secret to their success. This is just really good Mexican food, which explains their loyal and devoted clientele. Their big menu is more like what you'd expect from a sit down restaurant. How can one little "taco bus" have such a big menu? They have everything from tacos to chimichangas to tortas (a Mexican sandwich) to dinner style items. The steak ranchero platter is incredible, as are the camarones rancheros (shrimp). They also have hard to find entrees like mulitas. All of the entrees come with a choice of meats: beef steak, shredded beef, spicy pork, regular pork, chicken, and tongue (it's delicious...try it). For lunch, I like the spicy pork torta; it is big, delicious and loaded with flavor. Their burritos are also real tasty-just the right combination and balance of ingredients. You can get the entrees combo plate style with beans and rice. Although many people order to-go, there is seating available inside the bus. It's a bit cramped, but most people don't seem to mind because the food is so good--you simply don't notice you're eating on a bus. This is one of two "taco buses" in town. While both are very good and certainly worth a try, in my humble opinion Taqueria El Rancho is slightly the better of the two. It's large menu and addictive flavors give it the narrow edge. If you've never had tacos from a bus, now is the time and this is the place to take the plunge--you won't be sorry. There's a good reason why they have such diverse and loyal customers. We both like how they have pictures of the menu items posted up on the wall so u can see & read what all the ingredients r. I have acid reflex so I always double check if something on the menu is going to be too spicy for my insides. The staff is very helpful. The one draw back for me eating here is isles is kind of narrow to try to walk through when you got walking canes. Where to set my canes out of way of other people while the Restaurant is really busy for lunch crowd. Plus You better get your drink cup filled at fountain before u sit down at that very 1st little table. It's a pain to get right back up to get it filled. & if not u turn into the people into the line for next customers to place their own orders The restaurant is always clean. The people r nice. This is probably the best Mexican in town in regard to taste (that's really not saying much). They have good flavors in everything that I have tried. The quality of meat, on the other hand, could definitely be better. The Carne Asada is very chewy, a little dry, and almost more like ground beef. But like I said their flavor is there so that makes it more worth it. One thing that has always really bothered me is that they do not have green enchilada sauce. This is the ONLY Mexican "Restaurant" that I have been to that does not have both green and red sauce. Unfortunately we have always needed to microwave our meals because we bite into them and they are always cold in the middle. So cold the cheese isn't even close to melted. It would be a little frustrating to eat at the bus and either make the cooks warm your food or just deal with a cold meal. We made the mistake of going there today(Cinco De Mayo) and it was packed, of course. I'm not sure if it's because they were really busy or if they really don't take special orders but I ordered a simple carne asada burrito with enchilada sauce on top(a very popular thing back home) and they wouldn't do it even though almost every burrito on their menu has enchilada sauce on it. No idea why that would be so difficult. I ended up taking it home and putting my own enchilada sauce on it. SUMMARY: Good flavor. Quality of meat is fair. Food often comes out cold. Being a lazy college student at Rockland apartments made me come here a lot lol. A little less fancy then the Tacos Tepito as you walk in, but just like Tacos Tepito it's simply a bus with cookers in the back with a TV in the front playing Mexican Soap Operas. I love it ha. Carne Asada Burrito was purchased. It was good. Nothing special. There were a LOT of beans in it. I suppose to cut down the cost of the meat they put in. But was good nonetheless. And at $4.50 it was a price that couldn't be beat. Probably one of the cheapest places in Rexburg, and definitely the cheapest burrito in Rexburg. Quality Mexican is hard to come by here, if you want quality hit up Julio's Tacos Izcalli by Broulim's, it's more expenisive, but better quality.
