I went for dinner on a quiet week night. There were a few carryout orders that came through while I was there. Otherwise I had the place to myself. It's a relaxed/ cozy kind of place moreso than fancy. Food (Texano plate) was yummy and fast, and the portions were generous. The server was very friendly and served customers in both English and Spanish. They had signs for a kids deal (I think kids eat free on Tuesdays if I remember right). I love the food here, but am charged different prices depending on who is working. The middle aged man charges more than the woman who works the front. I was once charged $6 for a side of rice. The beans are delicious. I also love the sopes , rice, burritos, and tacos. read more

Ate here for the first time. We ordered the grilled chicken fajita, grilled beef fajita, chicken fajita with cheese and guacamole, Sincronizada with ham, cheese, and beef tortillas, and menudo. We also ordered 2 pork and beef tacos and they were pretty flavorful. They were all pretty good, but nothing special about it. The menudo was delicious, lots of tripe and tendon. We ordered the Horchata drink too and it was rich and sweet like it should taste. Overall, portions are great, but still expensive in general. This place is located in the same area as the HEB Villa Maria is located. Lots of parking and lots of tables. Staff are friendly and fast. They also have a full bar. read more

Authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is good. The portions are generous. Decote is pleasant but not a table cloth dining room. Simple and functional. Large dining area and can seat a larger group. Though the menu is pretty substantial there are not a whole lot of vegan or vegetarian options though, even the beans seam to have been cooked with bacon. Absolute scam of a business. I come in to enjoy the breakfast taco special ($5.99 for 3) and order three tacos. Despite no signage anywhere, they mention the deal only works if you get identical tacos. I told them I was not informed and was even told by my server that cheese isn't extra (it was extra). She told me I'd get onions (I didn't). She has tattoos on both arms, brought out the wrong food twice and then took forever to bring out my plates one by one. Even the chips tasted like they had been sitting on a picnic table for two days. Prices are very, very reasonable. Al Pastor taco - ugh, god, so good. Fajita Torta - I'd rather mayo instead of sour cream, but that's just a personal preference. Meat doesn't seem too old and hard like so many other places. I came here on a really high expectation of how incredible the tacos would be. Although the place was pretty decent, I just had my expectations set so high that I thought it was just a-okay. My friend had been here a few times and whole-heartedly recommended the Rajas taco, elevating them to the best tacos ever. Yes, the rajas tacos are good, but they are just missing something. It's a bunch of stir fried peppers that are beautifully seasoned. The only downside is that they don't have much texture. It's quite squishy. I did try a few other types of tacos and was just a little underwhelmed across the board. Aquacates (Avocado tacos) were the most bland ones I have seen yet. Slices of avocado on lettuce in a tortilla, with nothing else. And, when I mean nothing else, I literally mean nothing else - no salt, pepper, lime juice, nada. The chicken tacos were just okay. Just a bit bland in my opinion. They do bring chips and salsa at your table when you first come in. Which, in my opinion was the best part of the meal. An unusual thing that they do here, which I haven't seen at any other place is that they serve two types of salsas. From what I could tell, they are made almost identically; the only difference is the temperature. I'm not sure if there really was anything else unique about the warm salsa. I decided to try this place since the reviews seemed mostly good. Every other table is closed so you don't have to worry about sitting next to someone else. I was greeted immediately and had a drink and chips within a minute of walking in the door. The menu, cup, silverware and chip bowl were all disposable so I didn't have to worry about how it was cleaned. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The staff serving our Table was amazing. She helped us out on what to choices of foods and how to pronounce rhe names. She gave us dmetails on the foods and sides. She even gave us sample food to test and decide! Our order cameout very fast and it was amazing. Wow! The Agua de Horchata drink, I think it is a "rice water", it is just so delicious! My plate was also, the Quisedilla was so good! All the staffs are very friendly and supportive. This is a fairly authentic taste and bite, and the restaurant itself feels like somewhere in Mexico. There are a lot of beautiful mexican traditional decorations on the walls; like the colorful hats and more. You usually see a lot of Mexican families dining here. It's a great place with a diverse menu and fantastic service. The tacos are reasonably priced. The bistec tacos and the barbacoa tacos however leave a little something to be desired. The barbacoa is lacking seasoning so it is not very flavorful. You need to season it with salt to taste, but the problem is that with barbacoa you expect the meat to be very greasy, and salty, a flavor that is consistent throughout the meat. Unfortunately, when you salt it yourself you don't get the explosive barbacoa taste you want with each bite. The bistec was too tough and dry for me the last time I had it, and lacked a lot of the grease and juice that I like to have with my bistec. The plates are definitely the item to order here. The plates come with the choice of meat and are accompanied by a side of rice, beans, greens, and avocado, along with tortillas. Definitely will fill you up and leave you satisfied with an authentic Mexican dining experience. The tortas are also a great item to order for the price. They're about 5 dollars a piece and come loaded with your choice of meat and the typical salad fillings + avocado. Overall, the food is great for the price and the place definitely makes authentic Mexican food, but misses the mark on a few staples. I'm originally from Houston Texas on the east side, a lot of people think that Tex Mex food is actual Mexican food but it's NOT. The owner of this establishment is a Houston native and it shows! The food served here is amazing and it reminds me of the taco stands and family owned food trucks from back home. I'm so happy that this place exists because it is truly authentic. From the flavor of the fajita meat in the Tortas to the breakfast tacos with papas in them. Everything has FLAVOR!! Even though this place doesn't look as fancy as your other eat out spots like Los Cucos, I would definitely try out this place. So much food and flavor, for such a low price! Breakfast is from 7-11 Food: 5/5 Chorizo and egg is my go to for the breakfast plate. I'd say it averages at 3-4 large eggs loaded with chorizo that is NOT GREASY. This is crucial because its rare that I find consistent sausage that is not swimming in grease and also not dry. The breakfast plates are served with refried beans, hash browns, cheese, and either 3 flour or 6 corn tortillas. Chips and salsa are complimentary all day and are great for curing a hang over. Breakfast plates can also come with egg/potato (potatoes are fried, not the bland square type), egg/bacon(I do wish they gave one more strip of bacon), and egg/ham. Service: 5/5 I frequent this spot and even at their busiest, there's never any trouble with the service. read more
