This place serves tasty food but the restaurant is filty! I took pictures of a filthy vent that is right over the tables where people sit, there are dead flies and other debris right at the tables edge where it butts up to the window ledge. The door that the servers use is filthy top, bottom, both sides. Finally the unisex restroom door is covered in grease and grime. Those pictures are also here. Food was good 3 stars. Service horrendous -1. Margarita was good. The girl that took our order gave us death darts the entire time. It was a Sunday in the summer so they close at 7 PM. There was no room inside so we found tables outside and placed our drinks at our table then attempted to go inside to wait for our order. This was around 6:45 PM. She locked the doors. Okay... We waited for 10 minutes to get back in. The Favorite with shrimp was good. Also the chicken burrito with queso was delicious. I won't be back due to the numerous negative encounters with this young woman. Not sure if she had a long day or a hot date to get to but paying customers should not have to deal with her poor attitude. read more

We drove by and noticed while planning on going to the taco stand that we found out wasn't open that day. Went back and glad we did. Food was great. Beer was cold, have cute covered outdoor dining area. Staff were courteous and all the regulars seemed to be there for lunch that Friday who seemed friendly and helpful to we young ladies. read more

We have been a few times. Each time we have asked for suggestions from the person taking our order. Each time has been an incredible delight to say the least! Oh My Goodness! I even got a suggestion from another customer that was there. His suggestion was also a winner! The refried beans and the rice are just like what we get at our friends in Mexico! We have never thrown a margarita away!! Mine was all mix and sour . My husband had a strawberry too sweet. Food we ordered had zero seasoning. My taco bowl had green peppers and large onions for fajitas. No salt, , we both had to smother it in salsa. Seriously don't understand the crowds. read more

Photos of food look good but it's not good. The tamales were dry. The chips were so stale I'm wondering if they were made last week. The salsa they charge you for is half frozen and congealed and there is better sauce for free on their bar. Don't get the chips or salsa. Their $6 margaritas are HORRIBLE w/ syrupy sour mix and very weird tasting tequila. Not even remotely worth it. My friends salad was served w cold chicken. As in from a fridge. Smaller (and tastier) menu to choose from. Pretty authentic tasting food, and not the usual combos and platters you find at the bigger places. Don't let the plain exterior or small size fool you, this place is a gem. Family run with genuine authentic Mexican food, I was very pleased. I had a steak burrito with cheese, and for $7.95 you get a burrito roughly the size of a house brick. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. It was lightly seasoned but you had a choice of homemade sauces to add as you choose. I tried the extra hot. It was probably hot by average Minnesota standards but I found it rather mild, though not unpleasant. I had a very good meal for the price, the staff was friendly and helpful, the interior a bit worn but bright and clean. This is just a nice little place in a nice little town. read more

My wife and I have been told to visit this place for some time, and it has a good local reputation. When we finally found time to try it out, we were not disappointed! The restaurant is authentically decorated with fantastic bright colored chairs and booths. The food selection is authentic as well but don't be afraid, they don't serve cow tongue! We ordered soft tacos- both beef and chicken- a cheese quesadilla, and chips & salsa. The tacos were incredible and full of flavor. The chips and salsa was good and the side of cheese sauce that my wife ordered was excellent. The quesadilla my wife had was great and only cost 99 cents! The prices are reasonable across the board, in fact. Hard, scooped ice cream is available, as well as a great selection of beer and margaritas. My wife and I both highly recommend this place and will make an effort to return sometime soon! read more

Excellent steak burrito with white queso on top. Jalapeños were fresh and gave it good zing. Fresh cilantro and onion mix was really good. The steak and chicken tacos were spiced well with lime and peppers. The salsa also had good zing. The service was friendly and quick and the patio was cool and shady on the Sunday evening we were there. read more

I've been to Taqueria Escobar a few times in the past and had a really good experience. Today however, I had the worst food I've had anywhere in years. I'm not sure if they have a new cook or if something else changed recently but my food and that of the other person in my party was inedible. I'm giving the 2nd star for good experiences in the past but I can't give any more than that and probably won't be back after what I was served today. read more

I loved the concept of this restaurant and the decor was very welcoming, fun and clean. After picking up my order of asada tacos from the bar, I picked up a variety of hot sauces and onions mixed with cilantro. The onions were very fresh and the medium salsa was the perfect compliment to the taco. It was a great place to grab a quick, good bite to eat on our way through town. read more

I'm only giving a one star review and that is for the decorating. The restaurant was clean and the decorations were lovely. All of the food, five meals. were poor and extremely disappointing. The beef tacos had no beef to speak of, the few morsels, appeared to be the last leftover burned crumbles of beef from the bottom of the pan, few strands of cheese, a couple strands of lettuce, and no tomatoes. The enchiladas were cool to moderately warm, and the gravy had to be out of a can.? On the American food side, the one hamburger ordered was passable, but fries tasted like old grease. The salsa or hot sauce was thick and pasty. The price was much higher than the quality.. Would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through. read more

Joyce is spot on with her review: the decorating was colorful and fitting with the whole Mexican thing. Tonight, my brother and I tried to have dinner there. It looks nice from the outside but once inside we saw the dreaded "Order Here".. No table service. Mark had a burrito. I had the fajitas. The burrito was 90% rice. The ground beef was mostly gristle. My fajita beef was so overdone it was not chewable. We left. A lot of people were there. Maybe they think it's okay but this is a town of 2500 people. This is our favorite place to eat in town! It is authentic Mexican Food! It is family owned and ran, I don't have a favorite, everything is great! The Crazy Nachos are amazing (the chips are made from scratch) the Tortas are to die for.. the burritos are amazing and HUGE! I also highly recommend the Guarache.. I prefer the Al Pastor ... the tortillas are home made and so yummy :) Check out this gem in this awesome town! read more
