Our server was nice. Now, the reasons for a low rating. First, my drink tasted watered down. Second, we ordered a Rueben that had dark rye rather than the marbled rye listed on the menu. Third, my walleye smelled awful. Several at our table agreed. When I informed the server. She smelled it and agreed as well. Then, I ordered a California burger. Who puts a huge chunk of lettuce on a sandwich? I had ordered fries with my fish, yet did not get fries with my burger. To top it off, I was charged for the burger!! I was not offered the sandwich free to make up for the bad fish. Really? I was from out of town. I will visit the town again as I have family in the city. I love how affordable the cocktails here are. Highly recommend if you want cheap drinks. As for the food, I thought it was just okay. I would not get the ham and cheese bites again. I've been going to Socials for 5 years. Great food and normally decent service. Went there tonight with my wife and son. Sat there for 20 minutes and the folks in front of us, behind us and to our side were served with one of the tables who came after us served before us. They literally ignored us and I'm not sure why. We ate outside on a perfect summer night. Our waitress was slammed with three tables at once but she handled it with ease. The patio was a children's wonderland with chalk and hula hoops and corn hole and bubbles and more. No need to kids to be bored while they waited for their food which didn't take long anyways. There were some very creative burgers on the menu and we had a bacon cheeseburger cheese curd burger and it was delicious. I've gone here to eat a few times and the food and drinks have been good every time. Service is decent as well. I went for New Years Eve after seeing a post on their Facebook saying their kitchen will be open until 9. I got there after 8 ready to eat and was told by staff that they actually closed their kitchen at 8. I went back to find the post and they deleted it after others were pointing it out. It was a very disappointing experience as we had made our plans around going to eat there. read more

HOLY NACHOS! We stopped here on our way to Fargo from Minneapolis. We ordered the nachos and they were huge and great tasting! Also ordered a salad also huge, the cheese curds(mmmmm) and little one got a grilled cheese she couldn't finish! Stopped by here for lunch with a colleague. Typical small town bar and grill. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was mediocre. They did have lunch specials and menu was typical of what can expect in the upper mid-west - burger baskets and the like. If looking for a quick lunch in Fergus, this might be OK. read more

It is so great to still receive fantastic service during these bizarre times. Our waitress did a superb job! We had burgers and Bloody Mary's. Bloody Mary's are spicy, served with a spicy pickle and spicy meat stick and a beer chaser, just my style. I had the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and fries. Yum! My mom had the jalapeño burger and tots another We got to eat outside on the patio since it was a nice fall day. I like this place and will return! read more

Arrived with a party of 11, as we waited for a table one of our party asked for a beer at the bar and was rudely told by the bartender that he was to busy to get him one... while he worked on changing the TV station. After being seated the waitress told us the kitchen closed at 8 and there was no gaurentee we would get food. You would think after a year of no business they would welcome the business! We left and went to the Boathouse in Battle Lake for a fantastic meal and superb service. Don't waste your time at Socials. read more

Great place for local ignorance and incompetence! We've loved Socials for years. So much so, that our parents bought us a gift certificate for Christmas to Socials this year. We've tried to use it twice, but ended up leaving both times because waiting by the door for a table was frustrating. The first time I left after I watched an elderly couple at two-top wait 15 minutes for a waitress to take their money because she didn't want to open-up the table to new customers because they were so slammed. Our third visit since Socials has been under new ownership was this Sunday at 1:30. It was nice to see the place a little quieter. We ordered, and after watching everyone around us who arrived after us get and eat their food, our waiter explained that the printer in the kitchen had malfunctioned, and our order had just been placed. Okay, we're not in a rush, so no problem. I get my burger after another ten minutes, and my partner's pizza has the wrong topping. Again, not a big deal, but the waiter comes back after a minute to explain that this was someone else's order and takes the pizza away (I hope he didn't serve this to another customer). Then there's smoke coming from the kitchen and the waiter returns to explain there's a new cook in the kitchen who made a mistake and brings us a second plate of the same burger I'm already eating to "take home." My partner lives with Cystic Fibrosis. This isn't a great environment for people with respiratory issues. I tell the waiter I have no interest in another burger and he takes that away. My partner commiserates with the waiter at this point asking, "How do you feel things are going at this point?" and he is understanding and returns to tell us there's no charge today using the phrase "Happy Birthday!" We then wait a little longer to get the pizza we ordered in a box, but it never arrives. When we then want to leave, the Manager explains to my partner that we have to pay for the burger I ate because they don't want the business to "go under" and the situation became confrontational and uncomfortable for everyone. I used my gift card, and we ask for the remainder in cash because we won't be returning to this business. Of course, this is also not possible. I hope this business changes hands again and is operated by someone who values the customers in this community and their experiences more than the $20 they got from us for ruining our afternoon. Took really long to get the food out. One order was of a Cuban which had pulled pork on it?? Yes we must not have read the menu thoroughly enough, but we just assumed a Cuban would not have pulled pork on it. The pulled pork was dry and didn't taste good and the rest of the sandwich was meh. The fries and rarer tots just tasted really weird and manufactured and just not like actual potato. This was our first visit to watch the Vikings Game. Bloody Marys were $5 and made with zing zing, so you can't go wrong. We ordered the large supreme pizza and chicken Caesar salad and were very happy with both. Service was good even with a full house. read more

When socials first opened their food was awesome, the service was great! We mainly went for their Rubens that were phenomenal! The last two times we've had their Ruben sandwich The bread was burnt the corn beef was so dry and chewy and crunchy on the edges we couldn't even eat them!! I will not go back . I'm so disappointed because it was one of the only restaurants in town I would go to. I guess it's Fargo for better restaurants for us. read more

I had been told since this place opened they have the best burgers. I found nothing special. The fries tasted like old oil, we all know that taste. Biggest issue I had, is this is a family friendly bar/restaurant, that does NOT, I repeat, NOT serve coffee. Service was great, everything else was sub-par. Never going there again. read more

The wait time is absolutely absurd. They take very long to get menus out to the customers and do not come back within a reasonable time to take your order. The food takes a very long time to be cooked and brought out to the customers. The servers are not joyful, they have blank expressions and do not seem pleased to be at work. Socials is by far my favorite bar/grill in town! They have amazing food and a menu that changes often so there is always something new to try. You can't go wrong with anything you order there. They have trivia and different events on the patio during the summer which is great. read more

The bar looked nice, otherwise it's like eating in a cramped mess hall; small and no separation between other customers. I ordered a large nacho plate expecting to be a bigger single serving of nachos. It came out on a heaping XL pizza pan. Usually don't complain when the serving is healthy but it was almost embarrassing to eat, and dry as cardboard on top of that. The prices were ok, limited menu, service was pretty good. Afterwards in the parking lot we saw one of the tweaker cooks itching all over nonstop for at least 3 to 4 minutes during a smoke break before we decided to leave so we didn't get sick.
