Just had a fantastic experience at The Shoreline Restaurant in Battle Lake, MN! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The restaurant was spotless, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole visit a pleasure. But the real star of the show was the food! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect blend of spice and flavor, (though I am very used to spice so it may just be me)and clearly made with fresh ingredients. It's definitely one of the best wraps I've had in a long time. We stopped here for a late brunch before leaving town on a Sunday. It definitely seemed like the place to go on a Sunday for brunch/lunch. There is outside, restaurant side, bar, and bowling side seating. We didn't really walk around to see how much seating there actually was as it was very busy and we found an open table so sat down before it was taken by another group as you are required to seat yourself/group. The food was good and we would definitely order everything again. With how busy it was we were barely checked on by our waitress which was frustrating as our drinks sat empty for some time. They did apologize for how long it took for our food to get out (15-20 minutes), but we completely understood for it being a Sunday and it was rather busy with little to no open tables. We do recommend this place to grab a bite to eat but also warn that certain times of the day it may be busy and may have to wait for your food a little longer. read more

We ate on the restaurant side, not the bar side. The walleye finger appetizer was delicious. Big chunks of meat, batter was crispy, tartar sauce was good. They were out of the sirloin (special of the day - Mondays) so ended up with a pizza and a grilled cheese, neither were anything to write home about. The pizza dough looked hand tossed, but was thick and sweet. Sauce was ok; cheese and toppings average. The grilled cheese had sandwich ham, bacon, and tomato. The 4 cheeses were thin slices on one side of the sandwich. Then we had pie. The crusts we're store bought but the apples in the apple pie were fresh sliced, so yummy! The peanut butter pie was the best I've had at a restaurant. The service was excellent!!! The girls that work there are friendly and attentive. We haven't been out to eat here except once to the second best restaurant in MN so not sure if we'd come back. Prices were high, everything above plus two non-alcoholic drinks were $75. read more

Good food and great service in the diner section of the facility. But the real star of this place happens Fridays at 9. Some of the most unreal karaoke you can find in the country starts at 9 pm Fridays at Shoreline. Seriously. I have done karaoke across the nation, and this place absolutely kills it. First, the KJ (Nate). I understand he was a fill-in for the regular KJ (and happy birthday to you!), so hopefully the regular KJ is as good. Responsive, supportive, organized, and considerate. Great KJ work! Second - great crowd! Lots of folks singing and clapping along. High fives back to the table. Great group of people. But the real star - the singers. I've never heard this kind of consistent quality. I mean, what is in the water here in Battle Lake? Is there a conservatory in town that I don't know about? Kids who look like they are in college singing like rock stars. Older folks belting out classics and current hits. It. Was. Amazing. So, yeah. Decent food served by nice and attentive people. We walked in on a Sunday early afternoon of Mother's Day weekend for a drink. We were told right away that they were closing at 2:00. No sign on the door..we watched them turn away several people. Well there's not much of a variety of restaurants you can go to when you're in a small town. Shoreline was easy to spot and in a convenient location between Battle Lake and Ottertail. I went there for lunch and breakfast. The weather was beautiful that day, so we decided to eat outside. It has a great view of the lake across the street. There's also plenty of seating inside. Apparently, there is also a bowling alley in the back (I glanced at it, but didn't venture out that far). Also, their bathrooms (single) are renovated and clean. :D Lunch: Wedding soup and Pecan Crusted Walleye The wedding soup came in a small cup/bowl with a side of crackers. It was full of flavor and not bland at all. I tried walleye here for the first time, and if you are trying walleye for the first time ever, I would not recommend the Pecan Crusted Walleye. Walleye tastes best when it's fried (seriously). The Pecan Crusted Walleye came with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies. Not my favorite on the menu. I wasn't wowed with lunch. Breakfast: They definitely do make good breakfast here (and one of the best). I do recommend getting breakfast here. Since I make simple breakfasts at home all the time (pretty much everyday), I like to venture out and try breakfasts items that I don't normally make such as the Bruschetta Benedict with pesto sauce. Hash browns were cooked to perfection (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside). This came with a side of fresh fruit or pancake, so I got the pancake. The pancake was huge and could feed 2 people (unless you're really hungry). I'd go here for the breakfast and breakfast only. read more

My family have been here twice now. The service here is absolutely terrible! We got our food and then when I was going to ask if I could get something... there was zero servers to be found. There was a gentleman standing up front for a bit cuz he wanted to pay for his meal. He finally walkes around to the kitchen to see where everyone was cuz you could hear the servers laughing and joking around with the kitchen staff. So we finished our food. Never got checked on once to see how things were. There was 1 other table there eating besides us, so they can't blame it on being "busy". Some friends and I were hanging out at cabin near battle lake for the weekend and decided to get some breakfast at the Shoreline. The wait for service was a little long, but understandable considering the crowd in the lakes area on a weekend. When the food started coming out everything seemed okay to start, until my buddy was digging into some pesto hollandaise dish and spit out a PIECE OF GLASS about an inch long. No joke. He got his meal for free but received no kind of apology. I got my food when the second round of plates came out. I had ordered a southwest skillet with no sausage. It arrived with chicken in it. It turns out the green chili-sauce they use has chicken in it, which isn't mentioned on the menu. It was an honest mistake and they agreed to made me a second skillet without the chili sauce. I was told it would be a while because they were busy...WTF. When the second skillet arrived they managed to get the no chili-sauce part right, but instead they included the sausage. I pointed this out right away and the waitress took it back, again, no apology. I asked for the next one to go, since everyone else was done eating by now, and I assumed it would take another 15 mins since they were sooooo busy and apparently setting things right when they mess up is not a priority at the Shoreline. My "third" skillet came out about two minutes after the second one went back. I say "third" because it was actually just the skillet I sent back, except it had been dug through and the meat picked out. The skillet had been all mixed up by someone in the back and then they tried to disguise it by wiping the sides of the plate down, leaving visible grease streaks all over the edges. I paid for my coffee and nothing else. I will never go back to the Shoreline. read more

This place has so much potential to be a classic northern MN diner with the great lakefront views tucked away in a tiny town. I went up here while visiting family and so stopped for both lunch and breakfast, and sad to say, both instances fell well below satisfactory. For lunch I ordered a brandy old fashioned to start. Being from the Midwest, these are staples and it was one of the worst I've ever tasted. For food I had the Shoreliner Burger, which was fine and also a cup of their beer cheese soup. The soup was the highlight of the meal. Overall, the service was so-so. For breakfast the next day I opted for the smoked walleye benedict. The meal included hash browns (decent, but it's hard to screw that up) fruit, and the benedict. I actually had to do a double take when I looked at my meal. It looked as it they shaved a few morsels of fish on my eggs. So basically I had some fried eggs (hardly could call them poached) with some sauce on a soggy muffin. Oh and it took the server until we were almost done with the meal to bring me the side of fruit. The place was pretty empty on a Tuesday morning and couldn't justify the slow service. Again, too bad b/c if they can get their act together it has potential to be a classic supper-club/local place on the water. read more

We live in a neighboring town and had never been to the Shoreline. The server we had was extremely rude and never checked on us once. She didn't bring plates with the appetizer and practically threw our salad on the table and made the dressing spill out on one side of the salad in a puddle. She didn't ask if we wanted more dressing, didn't check on how our food was, didn't ask if we needed anything else, just set the check on the table and walked away. We were treated like we were an absolute horror for her to wait on. Definitely won't be going back. The only good thing about the evening was the view of the lake. read more

Great breakfast! I had the biscuits and gravy and it was up to par for my southern palate. What I really enjoyed was my husband's order, the walleye omelette (it had some kind of fun name). It was a crisp English muffin spread with pesto, topped with perfectly fried eggs, a generous slathering of hollandaise, and, of course, bruschetta. I was seriously tempted to lick the plate. We used to love this place but the food quality has gone down hill for some time now. We heard there's a new owner now so we stopped in for our favorite breakfasts, but no good. My Southwest skillet was okay, but not as good as it used to be. My wife's Egg's Benedict was bad. The menu says poached eggs, but they were fried, and okay - just change the menu, but the eggs were as hard as a rock! Hard eggs on a dry English muffin. The service we had at The Shoreline today was unacceptable - the worst I've experienced ever, anywhere. Kelly was our waitress and she treated us as an inconvenience, at best. Her attitude, inattentativeness, inaccuracy, and blatant negativity left us in disbelief. While the food was excellent and the decor/atmosphere and view are great, the service left such a bad impression it will be hard to return any time soon. Given up on this place after I ordered the breakfast last time, dont get me wrong I wanted to support them and the new chef who bought in to the place. Was there beginning of the summer this year and ordered steak and eggs(scrambled), waitress got the eggs wrong but Im not giving them 1 star for that- its because when I got my eggs back they had obviously taken egg mix, dumped in a pan and flipped once when browned. These were the Worst eggs Ive ever seen. A very decent breakfast place, given the options. We've been here twice this week. The good stuff... Bruschetta Benedict is delicious, a touch better than the walleye Benedict, over easy eggs and bacon were done perfect, fruit is good & fresh. And the down sides...the skillet is kind of sloppy and gross at the bottom, coffee is weak & flavorless, and there's a ball of melting plastic (aka margarine) on my pancake, shielding it from syrup absorption... ask for real butter. Their breakfast is as good as I remembered it from over fifteen years ago. Try the smoked walleye eggs benedict and the smoked walleye omelet. Both are to die for delicious. and don't forget to gaze out over beautiful Battle Lake while you eat. The week we were there, they built an out door deck, so now you'll be able to enjoy that as well.
