Finally... A burrito that comes close to what we used to get back in California! We've been searching for so long and I had honestly given up multiple times, but like all great explorers, we endured and persevered. Taqueria Lupita is a great spot nestled inside a gas station market. As soon as we walked in, I knew we were in for a treat. The smell of meat on the griddle and the aroma of toasted tortillas met our noses and it made my mouth instantly start salivating. The team behind the counter was working fast and got our order out super quick. I opted for a chicken burrito and it took all of my self control to keep from eating it on the drive home. But like all great explorers of old, we had to take our bounty back to the motherland for all to enjoy. I cut it open and see what the cross section looked like, and it was practically perfect. I forgot to ask for avocado, so that's on me. We got the red and green salsas with it and they were both great. I loved the roasty undertones and heat of the red salsa. The first bite of this burrito took me back to another place, far from Tennessee. It was a glorious first bite. The melty cheese, the rice, beans and the chicken combined to make the most delicious symphony of flavors. I can't say enough good things about this burrito, you have to try it for yourself. For all my fellow Californians, this is by far the best Mexican place we've found since living here in TN. As soon as we saw the (previously Oakland) Raiders logo, we knew it was gonna be good! I got the steak (asada) burrito - it came with rice, beans, meat, sour cream, and lettuce. If I had to give a critique, I'd say it's just missing a little guac. But oh my word, this burrito transported me right back to California! The flavors were spot on, the ratios were perfect. It may have taken us five years, but we finally found a Mexican spot that will definitely be in our rotation. It's located inside a small gas station, which confused us at first. Tried their burritos out for lunch the other day. They were good but messy as they broke out at the end half way through eating. The rice was the best part of the burrito as it was soft and pillowy but you could hardly tell their was meat in the burrito which was disappointing. Will try out other items next time but at least its close by even though parking can be a bit tricky. Kinda of pricey for what you get especially for the burritos. read more

OMG! Best Tacos stateside. It's just like the amazing food you get on the street corners in Mexico. The flavor and everything is just so amazingly delicious. The location is not what you expect to get food this great but please don't judge the quality of food based on the area it is at. You are missing out if you snub your nose and keep going away. Hands down the best Mexican food in Rutherford county, I absolutely stand 10 toes down by this restaurant. It's amazing the food is spectacular it's always clean everything is where it should be there's always something nice on the TV the bathrooms are okay in the services always friendly. I would recommend going on a day that's not so busy so you can order and get what you want with nothing ran out or go earlier in the day either way everything is always fresh and delicious. They have tamales they have tacos they have barbacoa they do a pasta sometimes there's so many different things to choose from. Even fresh chicharrones!!! I was surprised that we were not impressed with the dood here. We saw the great reviews and were excited to have delicious carne Asada but it was pretty disappointing. This place is a "California style" Mexican food gem. We moved here from California eight years ago and have searched for a great little taco shop with authentic "California style" Mexican food. As a kid growing up in the Central Valley, I loved working during the summers out in the rural towns build homes or landscaping, near Fresno. Towns like Mendota, Tulare, Dinuba, Merced, etc. During lunch we would always stop and find a place to grab a torta (Mexican sandwich), lengua (tongue) or asada (steak) tacos al carbon. This place reminded me of those places I used to frequent as a kid. Not fancy, but they always had tasty food. This isn't a place you're gonna sit down and have molcajete, fajitas, or even Pollo mole (oh how I wish I could find good mole here). The perfect place to spend National Taco Day: nothing fancy but awesome tasting street tacos--with the meat finely chopped but still tender and not dry, with a handful of onion and cilantro tossed on top. It's the real deal, and inexpensive and quick. Recommend the chorizo. Chicken, spicy chicken, and beef. Tortillas warmed enough to make the pliable and easy to fold. Warning: The hot sauce is really hot, with the green sauce carrying enough heat for most folks. There are other items on the menu but we go for the tacos every time. The best hands-down in the 'Boro. The place is in a gas station but like several barbecue places throughout the South, the station is just a low overhead setting for great food. I consider myself an expert in authentic Mexican food. Lupita could easily be missed being hidden in a gas station. A better name would be Tacos el riconcitos (Little Corner Tacos). This place authentic street tacos carne asada onion cilantro and lime. The carne asada is well seasoned. Food is made to order. I'd recommend calling in. They usually don't ask for your name but my order has always been ready and correct. I had the burrito with carne asada. It had the asada rice beans lettuce and sour cream. This is my go to place for authentic Mexican in Murfreesboro. I could eat this daily! read more

I highly recommend their specialty burrito, and of course, you can't leave without grabbing a couple tacos. What makes this food truly special is THE MEAT!! I'm from Arizona so it's really hard finding Mexican food here. I stumbled across this place and it's literally inside a gas station. There are two parts of store. 1. Where you pay on the left and 2. Where You order food on the right. This is cash only if ordering their food. They have tacos homemade and cheap! We also got the chorizo sope and it was one of the best ones I've had in years! I wasn't a fan or the pollo Asada but the carne Asada was great! Not only that the staff was so freindly and you can tell they have a lot of community business. we will be back again! A hidden gem. Dont let the location fool you-their stuff is great and most importantly authentic. They have great prices and everything is made fresh. The 4 stars are for the fresh hot tacos and for doing it local style. Unbelievably, the tacos are $1.50 each. Tripa is an extra .25 cents. Jaritos tamarindo is available as well as wheels of queso, Takis, and other snacks. The salsa is light orange and picante. Fresh chopped white onion and cilantro available at the bar table. We ordered our tacos "especiales" with tomato, lettuce, and avocado. Next time, I won't. It masks the meat, grilled onion and rustic tortilla flavors. Next time, we'll order traditionale. The gordita struck our number two son silent while he scarfed it down and declared it awesome. Our number one son had a huarache, aptly named because the hardy tortilla is as chewy as a flip flop--in the most charming way! The menu is very brief. The service friendly. The food hot and carefully prepared. The location, definitely rustic--inside the USA Mart gas station. Fear not. Come on in and partake. Here's the crazy cool part of it all--there's some good food karma happening right here. Nestled inside a rundown gas station outside of the main part of town, on Bradyville Pk, is one of the BEST places in the state to get authentic Mexican food. I stumbled onto this place by a recommendation of a friend, all he said, "Looks can be deceiving. Steak tacos. I promise. Thank me later." And I did. THE BEST STEAK TACOS in town. I've also had the chorizo (Very good, but definitely greasy) You can order them however you want, but don't be surprised if she looks at you funny. And to that, I say- TRY THEM AS THEY COME FIRST. (Corn tortilla, Protein, pico, etc...) This is AUTHENTIC mexican food. Stopped here with my son because Oscars was closed already on a Sunday. Holy crapamoly Batman, this place is definitely a hole in the wall but nothing short of amazing. I had no idea what we were missing. Luckily I took to Yelp, naturally, and typed in "tacos" and voila! We landed here. The carne asada and pastor burritos were out of this world. I could BATHE in a vat of the habanero hot sauce. If you like a little fire, it is a must try. The person who took our order was fast and efficient, and the lady who checked us out was super nice, in that motherly sort of way. I'd give 'em 10 stars if I could. Being from southern California I am very particular when it comes to what I will eat when it comes to Mexican food. I am used to quick Mexican shops like this where you get your food fast and chow it down there or take it as opposed to a sit down restaurant. That said this place is hands down the best Mexican food I have had in Murfreesboro without a doubt and might be up there as the best homemade hot sauce that I have ever had. The food is very tasty, overall the owners son who seems to spend the most hours there is very friendly and very efficient at getting you a great quality meal in a short amount of time. While the tacos are the best deal at well under 2 bucks, They have a very wide variety of menu items that extend past just tacos/burrito's and it all is very tasty. Probably the only place in all of Murfreesboro that I didn't regret calling my order in advance. They do not sell pork products which is fine and I assume that has to do with the religious beliefs of the gas station that they lease their space from. My only complaints is that for what this place is I do feel like 8 dollars for a burrito with meat is a bit on the stiff side and just as someone who comes in there as much as I do I don't always feel appreciated as a customer by the main owner (who isn't there very often when I go in there)..
