This restaurant opens at ten and provides high quality food at a reasonable price. They have upbeat music that isn't annoying. I ordered the Huevos a la Mexicana meals - one of my favorites and a dish hard to find in many Mexican restaurants. Taqueria Sanchez does this dish justice by providing avocado, goat cheese, and sour cream. The dish was superb. I couldn't help but smile as I ate this meal for breakfast. Impressed. This is real, authentic Mexican food; and it was delicious. The waiter and clientele mostly speak Spanish, and the flavors are different than what you get at Americanized Mexican restaurants. For $30 bucks, my wife and I left stuffed, having tried a variety of tacos, casadillas and other things I had not tried before. We had chicken, beef, casada, pork, and tongue, wonderfully spiced. The corn tortilla are made right there, and that makes all the difference in taste and freshness. The location is not right on google. It is across from the Toyota dealer on 15th. We entered the restaurant, Waited to be acknowledged for 5 minutes before we were sat at a table that was full of food, trash and empty Coronas. We waited for the server to come back to wipe it down, never happened so we moved one table over that was clean. We sat there and waited but no one came: the server then sat 3 more customers(Hispanic) got them chips, salsa and their drinks. We came here after a favorable review in a local paper and are always on the look out for a good Mexican Restaurant. When we pulled we saw two old broken televisions next to the front door. Should have turned around right there. Who would leave broken stuff right outside their front door? The chips were stale and we got a small amount of salsa. The salsa was ok but definitely not fresh. They did bring us some more later. I got the enchiladas and my wife the flautas. The flautas were fried to a crisp...I mean break your teeth crisp and the 2 tablespoons of meat inside was extremely salty. My wife remarked that "they get $11 for this". Extremely overpriced. The meat in the enchiladas was also very salty. Beans and rice were good. The two TVs outside were a precursor of the inside. There were at least 6 televisions including two very large projections. All were turned on and most tuned to a different channel...soap opera , sports, etc. The sound was up on all and the fidelity was horrendous. A continually loud yammering. No patron was paying the least attention to the shows. Poorly prepared food, loud televisions, and expensive prices. They will have to up their game to get me back. read more

Three of us stopped in for lunch and were immediately seated. We are not Hispanic though I do speak Spanish. Most of the other customers were Latino laborers with a few other non-Latino workers, all of whom were immediately seated and served. I chose the barbacoa and al pastor tacos and a chicharron pupusa, just to be different. Mexican barbacoa is cooked in a pit that is a cross between an Indian tandoor and a Hawaiian imu that is lined with maguey leaves. The meat was subtly savory and tender like slow cooked pot roast. Pastor is cooked on a gyro, a technique that Armenian immigrants from Lebanon took to Puebla, Mexico, about a century ago. The al pastor meat is pork, not beef, sheep or goat, as it is in Mexico. My only complaint (minor) is the meat was cubed instead of slivered but it was very well seasoned. Both tacos were on two small corn tortillas each, topped with cilantro and onions, muy autentico. Pupusa is Salvadorian, not Mexican. It is an arepa, a thick cornmeal bread round that was stuffed with chicharron (pork skin), cheese and beans. There was a side of curtido (Salvadorean cole slaw) and salsa. My son's al pastor burrito was absolutely huge and satisfying. My wife's chicken enchilada plate was so generous my son and I had to help her finish it. Taqueria Sanchez serves its food fairly bland for my taste, probably to not frighten away Nortes who may be not accustomed to spicy fare. One has to add salsa to amp it up. Tanqueria Sanchez serves food somewhat reflective of Michoacan, the Mexican state on the Pacific Ocean west of the nation's capital. Don't go expecting the average franchise chain hard shell tacos filled with ground beef. In my opinion, auténtica cocina mexicana at these prices is a terrific value. read more

I don't generally do things like this. But today I have too. I went to this place for lunch and the waiter told me they only had soup and tacos. Being that we are still in hurricane recovery from hurricane Michael I didn't think much of it. An older gentleman came in shortly after I did. He was told the same thing. So I still didn't think to much of it. Then some Hispanic people came in and sat at the both across from where I was sitting. They were brought menus. Also the Hispanics sitting in the front were brought menus as well. These customers were brought an array of foods. I know Trump was here yesterday. I know I'm white. Am I not allowed the same as the Hispanic cusromers? What did I do to be treated with contempt. Despite my treatment I still tipped the waiter. I've experienced racism a lot here. My pastor is a black man. I've been to resturants were the staff took my order and not his. Ive also been in church where because he was black he was "wrong" in situations in which he wasn't. There is a restaurant in mossy head that I will not eat at because they refused to serve my black coworker. I've not been to a certain gas station in years because they told my Vietnamese co-worker to come back when he could speak english. I was against racism then and I'm still against it now. If you're in mood the for Mexican and your not hispanic, well if you're white don't go there you can only have "soup" or "tacos". They may be okay with other nationalities. read more
