This is the best Mexican food in Mount Airy and there are lots of restaurants here. The food is delicious and authentic - not Americanized, not tex Mex or cal Mex. Just Mexican. The food is fresh. I wanted to shout out this little hole in the wall Mexican Resteraunt in Mount Airy....most who know me, know that I am not really a hole in the wall kind of girl, but after reading reviews decided to try it out. This little family owned business opened right before Covid hit and they spent a lot of money trying to stay open (therefore they did not have money to spend on advertising and decor) but they have struggled. This is, hands down, the best Mexican food this side of the border! It is authentic and delicious! The owner and his family are absolutely wonderful, so friendly and welcoming! Juan makes the best guacamole we've ever eaten! It has chunks of avocado,( not mixed into a paste) chopped tomato, cilantro, lime juice...All the flavors come through! Absolutely. Industrial neighborhood. Not the nicest looking place, but - as others have said - it is a completely different story inside. The owners are as nice as they can be. The inside of the place is very nice and homey; Friday Kahlo on the wall as well as old photos. The food is also very homey and very very good. I had the barbacoa with rice and beans. My wife had enchiladas which she shared with me. We also had tamales. Everything was quite authentic and absolutely delicious. Service was great and the place was just a lot of fun. Definitely will return next time we are in town. And we might even make the trip just to eat here. It is very good! read more

These enchiladas were AMAZING. I'm from out of town and was looking for something authentic and yummy and that's exactly what I got here at Taqueria Siete. Looks a little iffy from the outside. But the people running it could not be nicer. The salsa that they bring to the table has some heat. We ordered some guacamole that was much better than normal. I got el pastor sopes the first visit and my wife got the res soup . The pictures are from the last visit . I got chicken enchiladas (the daily special) and the wife got chicken tacos . The tacos are the street version with cilantro and onions that I love. They also brought us some shredded beef tamales they had just made to sample. I will order that next time. They bring 2 sauces to the table , the green one is hot and the red one will not let your tongue return to normal for awhile. A good authentic meal can be had here. read more

Found this little spot in December while looking for some authentic Hispanic food. We have been back every week since then. We have tried various dishes and they are all delicious.
