Alright this place was 10/10! Great food! Great environment and great customer service. We're in Traphill for a few days visiting families and were in the mood for burgers and hotdogs. This was the spot! I got a double cheeseburger and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. Just enough pink without being 'undercooked'. It was delicious. I also got a hot dog, a Carolina dog it was called. The coleslaw on top was crispy and delicious! The other ingredients on it were perfectly portioned so nothing overpowered the hotdog at all; everything on it complimented the dog so very well. My wife got a Cuban burrito and absolutely loved it! Our party got some other hotdogs and burgers; all happy campers! Along with the burritos they brought chips; which tasted homemade. They were crispy and fresh. Now this place is know for bringing some heat on their offerings; and we did not order anything hot or spicy like that. Maybe next time! Other than that - this place was a treat. For seven of us the tab was under 100$ - which lately - that is a bargain. (For comparison when we were on the road - we stopped at a WaffleHouse which brought the tab to $104; and their food is hot garbage). So in summary - a 10/10 dining experience which we'll be excited to come back to! I should have taken pictures; but, I think the ones online do a sufficient job. I'll take some photos next trip! This was my second visit this week. On Monday I had the double burger with palmetto cheese and bacon, it was hugh, fries are hand cut . They have a wing special on Wednesday, a dozen wings for $13. Service is great and so is the food! My wife has to be gluten free, the owner made sure to take all the precautions and my wife enjoyed a burger with a gluten free bun. My husband, grandson and I tried to have a meal at Freakshow in Elkin, NC. They said everything was homemade. I got a hot dog with "non homemade chili or slaw" that was terrible, my grandson's chicken sandwich was about the size of a silver dollar and he got maybe 6 chips with it; my husband's veggie burger was hardly eatable and he never complains, so I definitely will not be back to this place and cannot consciously recommend it to anyone else. read more

EAT HERE! Great food, great service! Love the atmosphere. Classic food done well but with plenty of twists. If you want spice...they have some intense options. You want a twist? This is not the place to eat if you are going with your family, I had the absolute worst experience with me and my two kids and my oldest son's girlfriend. While we were in the middle of eating my youngest son, that is nine years old, ask for a to go box and went to the bathroom. While in there for several minutes he called for me and I went in to see what was going on. My child had had a diarrhea accident and had made a big mess on his clothes, as well as on the toilet I called my oldest son and told him what had happened. His girlfriend went to our waitress and explained to her what had happened and that they would be back as they left to go to Walmart to get him some clean clothes, leaving our food on the table as we were not done eating I went into the bathroom to help clean up my child. We were in there for quite a while waiting for my oldest son to get back with his clothes when he gets back and we get him dressed I clean up the toilet, put everything in a bag and tie it up. Leave the restroom to go back out and get my child's food And they had thrown everything away upon confrontation. I asked the owner's wife where his food was at and she proceeds to tell me that they threw it away at this point. I ask her how could you throw a child's food away that literally was in the bathroom with an accident She goes back and gets her husband. He comes out and begins yelling and cussing at me calling me a bitch and a Cunt at this point it made me very angry. I will not lie about it. I flung their tip jar. Off the counter turned around and went to leave, knocked their sign over where the owner continued to follow me outside to the parking lot cussing me like a dog in front of both of my kids my oldest son confronted him to not call his mother a Cunt again and he calls that out multiple more times in the meantime, they are yelling that they are calling the cops they do so the cops catch us at the red light. We pull over. I take my ticket with a smile on my face because I would do it all over again. Because as a mother, I would do anything for my kids and knowing that my nine-year-old was having a upset stomach I knew he needed to finish his supper, but they refused to give him his three hot wings, and the remainder of what fries was on his plate in a new order in a box. I went to court and they never even showed up what cowards could put a mother through something like that only to gain what?? Absolutely nothing I hope and pray this place gets shut down because of his foul mouth and they're ugly attitude to a family that had did absolutely nothing wrong Until he called me a bitch that was when I flipped my switch. I hope the owners read this and know that I am doing this with a smile on my face as I know they are nothing but absolute cowards and complete pieces of shit.!!!!! Plus the floors are disgusting your feet stick as you try to walk. Just imagine if the floors are this way and they treat customers like this. A star is born. I just had a late lunch at freak shows and was very very pleasantly surprised the burger was juicy well seasoned well. Made one of the best burgers I've had at a restaurant in a long time. I also have a condiment bar with a spicy jalapeño ranch sauce that was delicious I will recommend this restaurant to my friends and will definitely revisit it. That was a good burger. What a great find while driving up 77!! I called and placed our order while driving and we are so glad we did! The food was awesome and we got a little bit of everything! 3 adult chicken nugget meals w fries, kids grilled cheese, hot dog and a cheese quesadilla. Everything was HOT, very fresh and very tasty! There was so much food and so reasonably priced! The fries are fresh cut shoe strings and reminded me of the fries my mom used to make when we were young kids. So delicious! So if you are driving north or south on 77 and in the Elkin area it's a short ride over to this restaurant! Also to note they use veggie oil in their fryers so SAFE for those with peanut allergies!! Finally found a restaurant that truly deserves a perfect rating. After reading many positive reviews about Freakshows we decided to make the short trip down to Elkin and give them a try. We arrived on a Tuesday a little after 2pm and were the only customers at that time. The 2(!) triple hamburgers and shoestring fries (for my husband) and my Mushroom Swiss burger were delicious and guaranteed that we won't be strangers as we look forward to making Freakshows a frequent dining experience - in fact, they offer a points based Loyalty Program for frequent customers good for discounts on their already reasonably priced menu items. The owners, Bill and Sandra, are super friendly and will make a point to come and greet every customer and take constructive criticism on what can make the food better, even though it's already fantastic! There's plenty of seating, seasonal decor (for Halloween they have an automated skeleton band playing music in the corner and is on POINT with Halloween) along with the sauce bar with special seasoned ketchup and more flavorful ranch than anywhere I've ever had. Visited today for the first time for lunch. Only place open not fast food. Was welcome right way by on of the owners. Big smile and super friendly! Asked us if this was our first time and then she went thru the menu etc. The cook/owner then came out from the grill area and welcomed us.l as well. I ordered the double bacon cheese burger. One of the best burgers I've had in a super long time from a restaurant. My daughter got the wings and they were spot on. I had a couple wings with the Darn It's Getting Hot sauce and it lit me on fire. lol! Wow! My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and said was really good as well. They have a great menu.
