I went for some chips and queso when i got some gas next door, The Service was fine but took 15 minutes for my small order and when i got it they gave me a broken lid leaking the queso all over the bag. the queso looked like vomit in a cup curdled cheese and cold i couldn't even try it without throwing up myself. for 15 minutes it should of been made fresh from my assumption why else would it of taken so long with no one else in the restaurant. don't waste you're time and money go to Don Chano's across the street they won't half ass you're order. read more

Authentic Mexican food in Alvarado! I am from California and this was the first Mexican restaurant. I tried in Texas, have to tell you I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and great service. I only wish their salsa was a little bit spicier, it definitely tasted, homemade and was served in Bottles at the table but for my taste I would've liked it a little bit hotter. Ordered 4 different orders to go. No sign was posted about a to go order adding gratuity or a certain amount being added to total for having a certain amount of to orders. I order 4 entrees and some thing small on the side. They have the smart system Clover with a large tablet screen and the screen was out or defective so I could not see what and how much the manager was ringing me up. Apparently I pay without seeing what everything costs and they added a 15% gratuity without telling me. On top of that, I added a 15% tip on top of the automated tip I was unaware of and the manager didn't say anything. I ask the same person who rung me up and ask what was the automated gratuity for and she said that anything larger than 4 orders. No sign, no warning, no verbal acknowledgment of that at all. She understood what she did was wrong but refused to admit it. Don't go here. Go to El Rey's across the street. They have better food and better prices! read more

A lot has has changed in one year. Or maybe it's been a few since the last time I wrote about Taqueria Torres. My wife ordered breakfast tacos with chorizo, potato and egg. What she got was tortillas laid flat with the egg and other fillings inside all on top of each other. the taste was not what I remembered. The chorizo actually tasted different. The green hot sauce was very watery. Although it tasted like garlic, it ran down my arm and was not very spicy. Everyone inside was having a good time as usual eating there Sunday morning, Menudo. Ordered 5 tacos 2 chorizo 2 pastor and 1 barbacoa and 2 gorditas de chicarrón. The tacos were all soaked in grease and the pastor was flavorless. The barbacoa was also flavorless and cold. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Placed an order to go I repeated my order twice and I received my order all messed up. I talked to the front counter person named Alondra and she got mad that i wanted my order fixed the right way. She insinuated I was lying . Once I went back to my table to wait for my order the lady named Alondra and another waitress were speaking bad about my friend and I. From the outside it doesn't look like much, we went inside and you seat yourself. They bring out chips and salsa with the menus, but the chips aren't complimentary, they charge you 2$ for chips when you didn't even ask for them. I ordered the fajita mix. The entire meal was gristly, besides the stuff that wasn't inside the pan. The shrimp tasted off; the steak was gamy and fatty, and the chicken was PERFECT! Another complaint was there weren't a lot of vegetables in the pan like there should've been. My husband's burrito plate wasn't anything to die for, the barbacoa burrito was amazing. Ordered the beef fajitas plate (you can also order chicken), comes with rice and beans, salad, salsa, tortillas (corn or flour) and lots of chips. Wow! If you are ever in Alvarado, TX looking for good, authentic tacos and a free beer (!!!), then this is the place to be. This is a little and very humble family owned restaurant. Their menu goes from breakfast tacos (available all day) to shrimp cocktails, enchiladas and of course...Tacos! The food is very good, prices are very affordable, service is god and they have a plus right now: Since they haven't been able to get an alcohol license...They'll give you for free a beer or a margarita (on the rocks)! I have never actually seen this place, but I do order from here on Doordash all the time. The make their own chips and tortillas. They make a very large burrito they call the Texas Burrito that is really good and enough for the largest appetite. I like their cheese sauce and the guacamole is great. I don't really like tortas and have never seen them on the menu at other Mexican restaurants , but this place has them if you like that sort of thing. They also have nopales which I don't like but some people do. They give you a few different choices when it comes to meat they have both beef and chicken fajita meat and for a little extra you can also get shrimp fajitas. They also have basic taco meat. Last but not least they have carne asada which is kinda like beef fajita meat but better. The reason I only gave 4 stars was because the last time I ordered I got the chimichanga with chicken fajita meat and the meat was dry and tough. Not everyone is perfect though. read more

Nowhere on the menu or at the counter does it say they will add a tip. I will NEVER visit this place again. If I want Torres tacos, I would rather drive to Cleburne where people are fair and HONEST!
