First time eating here. The food was delicious, fast and friendly service. I had the flauta plate. Guacamole was delicious as were the flautas- pipping hot. Hubs had the 3 crunchy taco plate- I was give ONE bite of his taco. The meat had just the right amount of spice, NOT greasy!! and there was plenty of meat on them. Stopped in on a Sat night after mass and were impressed! Chips and salsa were good and so was the queso blanco. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas and I had the carne asada tacos. My husband said the flour tortillas tasted store bought, which was a little disappointing, but all in all we both enjoyed our meals. Our server Jennifer was sweet and very attentive. First time in Barrera's. Atmosphere was fun and the place was clean. The waitress was helpful with tips on the menu. We ordered white queso, the 2 beef enchilada meal with refried beans and rice and the steak fajita chimichanga meal also with refried beans and rice. Complimentary chips and salsa were good. We enjoyed our meals. I would choose the chili con carne sauce over the enchilada sauce as it has more zest. The queso was tasty but a little thin. The fajita chimichanga had refried beans in it which I would ask to eliminate next time as it overpowers the flavors. Overall the meals were good and we will go back. High quality Tex-Mex all around. Barrera's has been a Cleburne staple since the 80's and always family owned and operated despite their different openings and closings over the years. They've really stepped up the food quality and service the last year or so and seem to be better than ever. My favorite dishes are the fajitas, carne guisada, the fish tacos, and the enchiladas. Not to mention they might just have the best burger in town... Don't hesitate to get your butts over there for a nice, homey atmosphere and all around great food. read more

Most remarkable thing about this place is the parking lot as you are leaving. Had to wait to be greeted and when I was greeted was asked "May I help you"......not the best way to greet someone. Waitress was quick, so that's a plus and only reason for the star. Food is GROSS! Refried beans taste like straight out of a can. Guacamole has to out of a package as do the tortillas. Chips were a bit stale. As for the beef fajita meat, a travesty to Mexican food everywhere. Some pieces tasted ok, some tasted rancid and others freezer burnt, will assume this is from some packaged precooked fajita meat, just nasty. Mexican food is easy to make and inexpensive to prepare even when using fresh ingredients, horrible food. Decor was extremely plain, floor needed to be swept and puddles of urine in the restroom. Barrera's homemade salsa is the best salsa that has ever entered into my mouth. It is fantastic and addictive. Highly addictive. Anytime I'm home vising my family, I always make them take me to Barrera's to get my fix. Just don't plan on making out with anyone afterwards or eating it on a first date. Not the best for your breath! Wonderful mom and pop place where they know you and actually care. Great service, great food. After requesting vegetarian beans, they even started carrying them. While this isn't a place that I would consider "authentic" Mexican food, it was still pretty good. I had the fajita quesadilla half order. The meat was delicious; but, it reminded me of what my husband does on the grill. The refried beans were really good. I wasn't a fan of the chips but the salsa, guacamole and queso were tasty. The service was average. The staff was by no means overly friendly; even a little cold. Prices were a little high, in my opinion ($23.99 for a full order of fajitas). All in all, it was fine. We went and had the quesadillas I had the steak and chicken combination mixed and I had the full order at $ 11.50 cost, The full order is very well worth it it's the entire plate and they are thick quesadillas,, The half order is $ 7.50,, they come with sour cream and guacamole they also have endless supply of free chips and salsa,, this salsa is GREAT,,LOVED IT,, it has a little heat but not too much,,,WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK AS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. read more
