This restaurant should get 10 stars!!! I'm going to mention the food first because it was absolutely incredible!! I'm from California and we know our way around some fine Mexican cuisine but Mama Cuca's was SO good. I spent two of my 4 nights in Midlothian at this restaurant. The grilled and stuffed poblano pepper is an absolute MUST HAVE. I'd never had it before but at the recommendation of our server, I gave it a try. I would have kicked myself if I had passed, it was outstandingly well prepared and flavorful :) But this review isn't actually about the food ... @Jessica and @Paty @Guillermo I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Andrew on my first night at Mama Cuca's and America in the bar on my second night. I've worked in Michelin restaurants in Napa Valley and these two professionals are genuinely absolute ACES in the craft of customer service. I don't write reviews to complain so when i take the time to write these it is because the service or quality was so outstanding that I NEED other people to know so they don't miss out on such an incredible experience. Both America & Andrew had us laughing and enjoying every minute chatting with them. The incredible food, combined with incredible staff ... needless to say I passed along my experiences to the folks I was in town to help with a tech deployment and will be coming back myself in a few months when I'm in town again. THANK YOU SINCERELY, America and Andrew, for providing one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I can recall. I came here from my friend for some quality time and we came for happy hour. I appreciate their drink specials, I was a little disappointed that the only way that you can take advantage of their food special is to go to the bar Our waitress Mariah was awesome. She consistently checked on us throughout our visit. We got the queso to share for our appetizer, and I took advantage of the well tequila which was good and my friend said her happy hour margarita was hitting as well. for our entrees, my friend got nachos, and I got the red fish. This was a busy spot and I had high expectations. The service was OK and the wait time was fine considering how busy they were. It's hard to give it much of a rating because we only had nachos, but I was disappointed that the nachos were not identified as like the one bite nachos they were more like tostadas or like half of a crunchy taco shell they weren't real nachos so I was a little bit disappointed. This is a warm and friendly restaurant. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and our service was just as sweet. She gave us Recommendations and told us her favorites. I could tell she really enjoyed the place she worked. The food didn't take long to come out and was well played. Everything was good and well prepared. The only criticism was the chicken in the Tacos carbon lacked flavor and probably some grilled onions would have helped the tacos. Otherwise we all enjoyed our meals. This little restaurant is Tex-Mex oasis tucked away inside a strip mall. The menu offers all your typical Tex-Mex delicacies with a handful of in-house signature dishes. The margaritas are delicious and relatively inexpensive. You are also given complimentary chips and salsa, which are very tasty I've had good experiences with service here, but the last time we went the appetizer came out literally 2 minutes before the rest of the meal, our drinks weren't always filled up, and the server kept trying to take our plates and give us the check before we were done eating. This was a put off because we were going to have another drink and unwind, but we felt pressured to pay the bill when it was delivered mid meal unprompted Some tips: Order one of their house margaritas, but when you do make it a "half & half" (half frozen and half just margarita with no ice). Really good chips and salsa. The queso was cheesy and creamy. Very nice! I got chicken fajitas and the chicken was tender and moist with a really good flavor. My husband got the beef fajita nachos and he really enjoyed them. The sopapillas were yummy with butter and honey. Fried goodness...how can you go wrong? I judge my Tex-Mex restaurants based off their Rice and Beans. A lot of places miss when it comes to the Mexican Rice. This place keeps it simple and it tastes good. And the charro beans were sooooooo good. I wanted to check to see if my grandma was back there. Overall the food was delicious. We got the combo fajita nachos for appetizers and I could've eaten that and I would've been happy. My date liked the grilled poblano. I had the beef fajitas with the homemade corn tortillas and it was very good. Service was excellent! We'll definitely be back to try the other menu items that were recommended to us. read more

The beef fajitas and grilled chicken we pretty bland and overcooked. The street tacos were not as authentic as they were advertised be. I usually don't get over to this part of town. . It seemed like a good local place. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. I had some kind of steak taco which is kinda hard to mess up. Overall, I was pleased with my meal. Not sure about the chips. Maybe they are a healthier tortilla chip and not made with so much oil. I would highly recommend the premium margarita on the menu. Well worth it..So if you are over that way, Mama Cucas is a place worth stopping by. read more

Had lunch there today, the fajitas had no seasoning, no taste whatsoever and they $.50 cent you to death for everything or maybe I was being singled out to be charge additional $.50 cent for everything lol. I asked for salsa to go with my leftovers and they wanted to charge me $.50 for that. I've had better. The ambience is nice. The margaritas are good but thumbs down for the food, oh also I ordered the Sopaipillas and they gave you a tiny amount of honey and guess what they wanted to charge me, $.50 for more honey. read more

I've eaten here twice, back when they first opened about 2 years ago.....well I've tried to come here not once but twice and they were either closed or when we walked in the hostess turned us around saying they are closing in 2 minutes. Smh. So last night, we were looking for something to eat. I specifically checked the hours online before going and the closing time was listed as 9:00. We walked in about 7:50 and was told they were closing soon. The hostess indicated they've 'tried' to update the hours because they were adjusted due to Covid. Ok, we are a year into Covid at this point! Please get on Google and update your hours! It's not that hard to do!! My rating is based on going here twice and not being able to access the restaurant. Again the first time it was closed! But I'll give them grace on that one because it was around the time we were dealing with bad weather due to the snow/ice. This place is hands down my new go to for Mexican cuisine spot. This was a last minute let's just get out and ride and see what catches our attention and I'm happy it did. There was a wait but once your in the restaurant it's plenty of people standing waiting on tables, sparking conversations so you won't pay attention to the time. We had 2 drinks while waiting which were pretty good, ( margaritas ) then we were seated and had the pleasure of having Ms.Patty as our waitress. She was soooo sweet, gave us a few suggestions and never left us waiting or looking to see when she was going to come back around. Patty had a smile on her face the entire time and made our first time here a good time. We ordered the shared fajitas meal and two more drinks from the bar. They were open to 10 pm the night we visited - when most local restaurants close at 9 - this is a nice benefit! Visiting this late, we were one of the few tables - so service was quick and efficient. Salsa was on-point, but the first batch of chips we received looked like they were put through a tree-chipper. No worries - new chips and great salsa so all was well... Dinner included huge portions of fajitas, a great marinated chicken plate and a few margaritas. The servers were friendly - almost a bit too friendly and "proximal" during table interactions in this crazy-covid-scared world. Came in for Father's Day dinner for the first time- and my goodness they did not disappoint. Our waiter Andrés was amazing, super friendly and helpful with suggestions/info. I rarely eat beef these days- but their beef fajitas knocked our socks off- very tender and flavorful. The chicken was also very tender and both the charro & refried beans were very good- but we have been driving nearly an hour for good beef fajitas and that has all changed now. This will now be our first pick. I opted for a glass of Cabernet as I wasn't in the mood for a mixed drink and my gosh- it was LOVELY. I wasn't expecting much as it was only a $6 price point, and I waited til after I'd eaten to drink it... but goodness... it was very soft on the palate, wide open like it had been breathing for a week, was potent enough to relax mama, and even had some legs. Even if the food hadn't been so good. I would be coming back just to chill and enjoy a glass. Suffice to say, we all had a very satisfying & happy Father's Day dinner. My husband and kiddo told me that their tacos and nachos were flavorful though. The beef was very greasy however and it oozed onto their plates and hands.
