This place had some of the best carne asada I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant. I haven't explored too many spots in LA yet, but this one definitely stood out. I came here with two friends and ordered the carne asada with chilaquiles. The carne asada was incredibly juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. A lot of places serve it a little too dry, but this was cooked perfectly and was easily the highlight of the meal. One of my friends comes here pretty often, and my other friend ordered the tacos. The portions were generous, and he said they were really good as well. The waitresses were also very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint was that the cups of water cost around $0.75. I wish they had mentioned that beforehand, although it may have been posted somewhere and I just missed it. Overall, the food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the service was great. It was date night and I was in the mood for Tacos. As I was in the area, Taqueria La Oaxaqueña popped up on my radar so I decided to stop in. Imagine my surprise when I pulled in and realized that I had been here before. The parking is very tight so make sure you have your bumper cars skills in order. LoL! Walking in, the restaurant is very vibrant and the area is very spacious. The hostess was super nice and took care of us immediately. She sat us near the side window which was a great spot for personal conversation. The menu is very robust and provides a variety of options for any liking. They even have an American section which offers wings and nachos. They didn't have any sweet tea so I got a lemonade and it was the bombbbbbbbbbbb. LoL!! After taking some time to review the menu, the Birria Tacos were made with Goat Meat so I decided on the Taco Plate w/ Steak as my meat. The place comes with rice and beans as well. When my food arrived it looked and smelled amazing. The meat was well seasoned and tender. The steak was chopped into the perfect size that made it easy to eat. The floured tortillas were toasted which added a great layer of texture to the taco. The rice was good but was even better with the beans poured over it. Ummmmmm. The Beans were a pinto bean (I believe) and were well done and seasoned just enough to give them flavor but not overpower the meat flavor that they were made in. Alessandra was an amazing waitress. As someone coming from California I have to say this is the best quesadilla I've had in Georgia ! I had the goat quesadilla and it was juicy, cheesy, and full of flavor! I didn't need to add sauce or condiments. We also ordered a steak quesadilla which was also amazing! It had peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese and plenty of fresh cilantro! Located on Mt Zion Rd the history of the restaurant journey is a fantasy come true: "At age 15, Rosalia Ruiz started selling traditional food an snacks in her home state of origin in Oaxaca, Mexico. In 1995, she had the opportunity to travel to the USA with her husband, Oscar Arteaga, arriving at Dekalb County in Georgia. During a visit to a local flea market, Rosalia came up with the idea of selling traditional Mexican food. With very few resources and a very basic grasp of the English language, they began to sell tamales. After two years, Rosalia and Oscar saved up enough money to buy a food truck, which was located on North Harston Rd, at Stone Mountain. I've eaten a ton of Mexican food in the past thirty years and always love to seek out the best places wherever we are, including probably the dozen or so times that I've been in Mexico. This is the best Mexican food that I've ever had! The salsa bar had my new favorite, salsa de cacahuate, only the second time I've seen it in a restaurant. It's ground up peanuts and chilies and very good, I think. The refried beans were the best refined beans I've ever had. The mole tacos were super fantastic! I've never had better mole! The carnita taco I got was the best carnitas I've ever had! The chicharon taco was pretty good. My server was sweet and on point! You can't go wrong at this place. I wish I didn't live so far away but see a restaurant with the same name, much closer to me in Duluth, and I'm hoping it's the same owners. Eat here if you want the best Mexican food by ATL Airport! We are from Southern California (aka spoiled with eating delicious/authentic Mexican food all the time so picky about eating Mexican food so far away from Mexico) but Taqueria La Oaxaquena tasted amazing and was the perfect meal before having to head to the airport (because who wants to eat airport food? - not us!) When we arrived the restaurant was packed - a great sign! It was also packed with native Spanish speakers - also a great sign that the food would be authentic & top-notch - and it was!! The restaurant was very clean (even the restrooms) and all of the employees were nice and helpful! They have multiple types of salsa including my favorite the green tomatillo - all of which tasted fresh and flavorful! We ordered: 2 Pastor street tacos (really good marinade!) 2 Carnitas street tacos (carnitas was perfect crispy on the edges and soft and flavorful - this was our favorite!) 1 Campechanos (Steak and Chorizo) street tacos (This was a great combo of making the Asada more flavorful but not as overpowering as a straight chorizo taco) 1 Asada street tacos (actually our least favorite) 1 bean & cheese burrito (no rice) (tasted more like a cheese burrito with a smidge of beans but who doesn't love cheese so that was delicious) 2 Kids steak mini burritos (got rave reviews from the kids!) Just to note the "street tacos" that we ordered are the ones that you'd get in SoCal or Mexico with the cilantro, diced white onions and a line to squeeze But - they do offer the other tacos with all the toppings too Best of all: they make their tortillas from scratch! One thing to be aware of is they cut all their burritos in half (even on to-go orders like ours) which I didn't like since that makes it messy to eat so in the future I'd request them not cut in half - I didn't know ahead of time they did this. Also you can call ahead to place a to-go order which was awesome and super convenient! Allow at least 25 minutes minimum though because they are busy! We always seem to be hungry either after landing at the airport, or before our flight, so now we have a new go-to airport restaurant since it's less than 15min drive from ATL. We were visiting the area and basically picked some where close that had good yelp reviews. The reviews of this place weren't lying. The food was outstanding, very authentic Mexican food. I wish I would have known they had a salsa bar before I finished my meal, though the meal was super flavorful. The service was incredible the servers while busy kept everything flowing like a well oiled machine. The interior was very bright and super clean. These are the first LEGIT tacos I've had since moving here from Texas in 2020. REAL authentic Mexican food is hard to find in Georgia but here? It's packed at lunch and the parking can be an issue but the food and the very nice wait staff make the effort worth it! I had the berria tacos (goat) from the lunch menu and it was tender and delicious! The au jus was just perfect! And I had one chicken and green chili tamal....i enjoyed it but I wish it was just a little fluffier. Be sure if dining in you hit up the salsa bar. Really good salsas and pickled vegetables to pick from. The food at this place is amazing. We happen to be down in McDonough and passed by this location and saw a lot of cars. We assumed from all the cars that it was going to be fantastic. The food was fantastic. The weight however, was not great. They have fresh Horchata on tap, which was wonderful. I got the tamales the chicken ones. Those were fabulous. Also got the street tacos super super delicious. I would drive back to this location even though it's an hour and a half away from us just to get that food again. We ordered three tacos and a large Oaxaqueña (Mexican- nachos but flat ) which contains your choice of protein, beans, lettuce, avocados, jalapeños. It was good but needed some flavor. The tacos are delicious and have nice amounts of protein. The orchata was delicious and not too sweet. They also provide you with a big amount so you will likely not finish. Service was OK. Wasn't greeted when I entered the building. Planned on getting my order to go, but just ended up seating myself. Ambiance seemed a little off, but not terrible. Service improved once I was greeted by a waitress. I ordered a pork tamale, and asada taco. Chips and salsa coke with the meal after being seated. The tamale had minimal meat, and had fatty pieces. The asada was flavorful, but I didn't imagine the tortilla would come out so big. I noticed photos of street tacos on yelp so, maybe I needed to be more specific of the kind of taco I was looking for. Tortilla was homemade, and not dry at all. I did not like the salsa that came with the complimentary chips. It tasted like it had a hint of marinara in it. The menu is large. They have a salsa bar at the front of the building by the register. This was the most authentic Mexican food I have had from a restaurant in a long time. In an unassuming little restaurant off the main freeway is some really tasty & fresh Mexican cuisine. It was a Sunday night and the place was busy with families enjoying their dinner. We were sat in about 5 mins abs greeted immediately. This is a mom & pop situation so it feels like you are sitting in your grandmas dining room. Huge menu but I opted for the classic dish:Tlayuda Oaxaqueña (Mexican Pizza). It was DELICIOUS and the ingredients were so fresh. My wife and our friend also enjoyed their tacos and a pork dish with green salsa.
