The place is nice and the food tastes good, but the music is way too loud--you can't even talk. It's in poor taste to eat with the sound turned up that high.

My and friend and I met her for drinks since we both stay on the southside and didn't have to into the city. The restaurant is very large with lots of seating and a bar with TVs. The menu had a wide range of options and the prices are reasonable. I had a Pina colada margarita and it was very good and refreshing. My entree was a chicken quesadilla with a side of guacamole, lettuce and sour cream. It was seasoned well and beyond delicious. We also ordered a hookah for about $30 or $35. The flavor we picked was sweet and smooth and they also replaced the coals we needed. Overall, we had a great night and will return again.

One thing restaurant have to do is stop paying Instagram for advertising and stop paying brand influencers for advertisement when they aren't meeting their own advertisement. It's all over social media. They do not have the 99 or the $.99 taco specials. They do not have those anymore except if you're going for taco Tuesday do not expect the .99 tacos. Most of their drink specials do take place during the day once that afternoon evening post work Rush starts to come in. The specials are no longer existent. I got there around 7 PM with my boyfriend thinking we could at least catch the end of a special that is a no go. They also have oysters on their menu price at 11.99 do not order them. A dozen Rockefeller oysters was market price at 69.99 and the Rockway issues with market Price at 39.99 --I'm so glad my boyfriend verified the pricing on the oysters; I personally would've been pissed This restaurant is located on Aunt Boulevard at the top end not too far from the 75 exit . I'm almost positive Saturday and probably Friday nights it gets active. The energy is different during the weekday when I went;, it was more family oriented. Let's be honest ...they have Hookah. That should give you an idea of the environment. The decor is very pretty it gives Cantina or "Mexican" style restaurant . My boyfriend ordered the Birria tacos. And I ordered their specialty pineapple fajita. His birria OK it was literally so -so. The dip/soup didn't really have flavor. The specialty fajita in the pineapple bowl was really good. It comes with shrimp chicken, fried fish, beef It was so good. Realistically, my boyfriend and I could've shared that pineapple because I had enough to eat a full dinner the next day. . As I mentioned came on Tuesday afternoon, they were not packed, so Service went there quickly. The waitress was very helpful and checked on us consistently. Automatically gratuity on those checks. It was just two of us. They did tax gratuity. I will have to try more options for the food to actually give it a good rating, but my food was good . Overall for a bar or hang out this is something different to do on Tara Boulevard

Very nice service, quick, "squid" is terrible and hard and weirdly fatty. i think it's an octopus. wifi doesn't work, very pretty in here! rice is crunchy and steak tastes like dollar general. not coming again but maybe for cutesy pics. nice bathrooms

The octopus fajitas were phenomenal. Portion size is huge and the drinks were strong. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Came back a few days later and had the shrimp and steak fajitas. Quite tasty. I always come home with a to-go box.

What we got...a fruit cocktail frozen mess

The place was empty so on a Saturday evening, so that should have been our clue to go elsewhere. However, we were seated quickly and that was the end of our luck. Server came over and I asked for a drink menu. We were then told they don't have alcohol at the moment so he presented a menu with wine based drinks, on a Sangria style. I'm annoyed now cause I wanted a margarita, but 1 drink was order. I'll add the menu and pic of the drink because WTF! We ordered a strawberry Breeze and got a frozen drink with a cup of fruit cocktail dumped on top. Asked the server and he said "oh yeah sometimes they run out of stuff and just make up stuff ". I told him to take that off our bill because, NO! The food was ok I guess but I was so annoyed that I couldn't really enjoy it and it wasn't really hot, but the plate was super hot. We definitely won't be back.

Best Mexican spot on the southside! If you're looking for delicious food, amazing service, strong drinks, hookah, good music, & a great vibe that's open late night, this is the spot ! Ask for GiGi as your server!

GREAT DRINKS, GREAT FOOD, even better service. The entire place gives you the feeling of a great time and great food. The music, the decor, and the staff. The food is very authentic and there are plenty of options from a variety of food groups. I had the Asada quesadilla, Asada Tacos the table side guacamole. Two thumbs up for 1942 Cantina!

I have been here twice, each time receipt was not itemized, over priced, cheese dip was only hard cheese melted with chorizo. But they where gracious enough to receive us after hours, but I will never come back.... The the chime change was not fried really a wet burrito.... they are over charging the customers and not itemizing the charges. Us blks done know the disvalue they give us! Customer service is okay! . The ambiance was nice, they did spend some finance to create this place but I can not spend $130.00 each time I come and it is in the heart of the get to too!

The food service is poor. The wait times are always long. The alcoholic beverages seem as it only had sweet-and-sour mix in it.

I was in the are furniture shopping with my mom and we decided to come here for lunch. My service…read morewas spotty and I did not see previous reviews until after eating the chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the host was not at the stand and I had to ask the bartender to be seated. The bathroom had a bad, sewer smell to it. The tap water was nasty. And the lunch enchiladas (3 total) with rice, guacamole, salad and sour cream was not good. Guacamole tasted sour, the cheese was barely melted, the chicken was bland and dry. And overall, not worth $14.95. With that being said, I would not give this restaurant my business again.

So I really feel like I'm being penalized because I don't eat meat. I absolutely love chimichangas…read moreand I asked if I could get a chimichanga with just veggies. A chimichanga with meat cost $16 and some change but in order for me to get one with just veggies and no meat I would have to pay over $20 because they had an additional four dollar fee. I can't wrap my head around how I would be charged an additional four dollars just to throw some veggies in a flower tortilla and deep fry it like they would the meat. Once again I'm feeling like I'm being discriminated against because I don't eat meat. I went as far as to chat with the manager, and she justified the fact that they had to create something that was different off the menu because I didn't eat meat and that's why there was an up charge of four dollars again discrimination!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I had to settle for something that I didn't really want because my son had already ordered food and we were here and both of us were very hungry.
