Great experience every time I go! Food is usually sent out super fast where you can eat in for lunch and food is good! Love how big the portions are and staff is always super nice and accurate! Sometimes little loud in there with music, but not where you can't hear and talk. Prices are so cheap too, would recommend trying! read more

My mom introduced me to Monterrey's a few years ago and I've been in love ever since! They've renovated the restaurant since the first time I've gone and it's nice and enjoyable for any type of outing. This is my favorite restaurant to go to when I'm craving Mexican food. Whenever I go there's never a long wait for seating or for the kitchen to bring your food out and I truly enjoy that. My usual is the Burrito California and sometimes the Nachos but I think I'm going to try some tacos the next time I visit. My boyfriend usually gets the Taco Salad but he tried some of my burrito this time and said he's getting whatever I get the next time we visit! Lol. I'm also a fan of their Margaritas and one is usually enough for me. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

You cannot go wrong here when it comes to the food - everything I have tried so far from burritos to enchiladas to tacos are deliciously delightful from start to finish! The salads. especially the taco and guacamole salads, are wonderful and made so you get some of everything from the first bite to the last! The right amount of food for the price you pay. It is all good! Service is most friendly, helpful, and hardworking to make your meal visit a great experience. More often than not, you don't have to ask for refills on drinks, chips, or salsa. You usually do not have to ask for additional napkins, either! The only complaint is that it might get a little noisy from time to time, depending on how many people are in the restaurant at the time you are visiting. This is some seriously good Mexican food! Happened to be in Jonesboro and this place came highly recommended. Wasn't certain what to expect with the social distancing norm these days, but let me tell you - they are open and ready for your business! Monterrey is located in the middle of a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. When you walk up to the door, they have a table there with menus taped on the doors. The menus are EXTENSIVE. Like, Cheesecake Factory extensive yal. At least 75 items to choose between. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. Lunch specials average around ~$8 and the dinner entrees average around ~$12.50. When I saw the prices, I just automatically assumed the portion sizes must be extremely small. Those are appetizer prices in Chicago (where I just moved from). Well, I was wrong. The portion sizes are huge. Let me tell you, this food is incredibly well seasoned! I was actually surprised at how delicious it is! I ordered: 1. The Agave Especial: Marinated steak and grilled chicken cooked with onions, tomatoes and bell peppers. Served on a bed of rice topped with nacho cheese (it's the white queso cheese). Cost: $11.50 FIVE STARS!!! 2. A Little Bit of Everything: Chalupa with guacamole salad, chile relleno, beef taco, enchilada, burrito, beans and rice. Cost: $12.95 FIVE STARS!!! Went here on a date Jan 24. I chose this location based on a review from one of the yelp elite members. I liked that at 8 PM on a Friday night when I pulled up this place had plenty of parking because it's in a shopping center. We didn't have to wait there was only one couple in front of us the young lady and the waitress we're very nice friendly and patient. We were immediately served with chips and salsa. my date and I both ordered margaritas on the rocks I had the mango Texas margarita. It was strong but not too strong it was exactly what I wanted. It wasn't too loud that we couldn't enjoy each other's conversation but it also wasn't quiet either. It was a nice atmosphere the food came out very quickly. the steak was a little drier than I would've liked but the flavor of the shrimp and the chicken made up for it. The rice was very flavorful and I usually don't enjoy my rice at Mexican restaurants because everyone doesn't season it well. I liked that it came with guacamole salad which is really just lettuce and tomato with a little guacamole on it instead of beans. I did have a choice between beans and rice when I ordered and I chose rice so I liked that the salad balanced out the carb count. Overall my experience was pleasant and I would return. I love this place. I've tried other similar places all over Atlanta, but none are as good as this place. The only bad thing is their closed-on Monday. Great experience. My friend found this place for us to have Mexican food and we were not disappointed. We could this was a good place bc when we got in there it was full. We waited about 10 minutes for a booth and we got chips and salsa right away. Our server came to take our order and he was very efficient. I used to enjoy this restaurant before it got its face lift, however since that time it's quality and quantity have gone downhill and have become rather inconsistent. The fry portion for $3 is rather disheartening. I wish I would have snapped a picture. The rice is a hit or miss depending on who cooks it and if it's seasoned well. As for the the garlic shrimp poorly executed ... oily , tasteless and lacking in flavor. I've had a couple of their steak dishes that also look better than they taste. I love Monterrey and co-workers and I always find ourselves here a few times a month. Today the staff, as always, were very friendly. Very attentive and checking on the table with a smile from the servers to the cashiers. Always go the extra mile. Food was excellent. I love their stock salsa. It's just spicy enough to have a little tinge of a kick, but not so much so that you can't enjoy it. I almost always order the Chicken soup, no avocados, and it's always tasty. Monterrey's is a chain, and I found that depending on the ones you go to, the soup ingredients are a bit different, but it's tasty all the same. I can't recommend this place enough and encourage you to try it at least once wherever you are in the area, but specifically at the Tara Blvd location. Enjoy! read more

I loved going here for lunch when I worked in Forest Park. Even when they are busy, you get great service and it never takes too long to get your food. I always went for the Speedy Gonzales (which has an enchilada, taco and rice) or the lunch fajitas. The food was tasty but not necessarily consistent. Sometimes my cheese enchilada wouldn't be cooked long enough, so I started ordering it well done and that fixed the issue. Now that I live in Atlanta, I miss eating at restaurants like this that give you a bottomless supply of chips and dip and think nothing of it. (sigh) read more

This restaurant was recently rebuilt after a fire in the atmosphere looks good and the food is delicious. I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. I recently decided to visit this restaurant while sick and it took me a lot to get there. I even had to have a driver I called and place my order and arrived upon the time that it should be ready once I receive my food I noticed that my order was incorrect and the establishment offered to remake my food. I allowed them to remake the food and continue to wait in the parking lot upon receiving the remake of the food. The order was still incorrect as I was really ill, and could not afford to wait any longer, I asked management, if it would be OK to cut me a discount on my next visit if I excepted the food as it is so that they will not have to continue to waste food re-making my order incorrectly. I wasn't sure that my next visit I will receive half of my next order. I asked if they need to write my name down in the book and the gentleman told me that they would remember me. i'll return the following day to place another order and was greatly surprised when I was told that my discount had been denied by management because I receive food. I try to explain the situation. However, they were not interested and held their position. I was greatly disappointed that his business did not keep their word, and he has dampen my experience going forward. read more

From Friday after work with my coworkers... to me and my husband arguing about who knew the better Mexican restaurant...to us eventually finding out that we were talking about the same place...LOL... ...U could say we have a history! ;-) The food is great! We've pretty much enjoyed every dish we have ordered. I love the decor of the restaurant. The colors, pictures and decorations definitely add to the experience. This is my go to place for Mexican food. The service is always superb, the food is Great, and the drinks are better than anywhere else. I have been going to this restaurant for several years and I've never had bad service. It is my opinion that for the few people that did leave a bad review, they just can never be satisfied anywhere.
