My benchmark for Mexico City tacos was set by nearby Taqueria Los Cocuyos, but I was hankering for some pastor tacos that Cocuyos doesn't offer. After some churros at neighboring Moro I stopped in to get my fix, and while these tacos were good, I get the sense that Taqueria Pocho is as popular as it is really due to their proximity to Churreria El Moro.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
It couldn't be more straight-forward at Taqueria Pocho. You decide whether you want pastor tacos or a pastor torta, they make it in front of you and you're on your way. Star.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
15,00 MXP each for decent sized pastor tacos with all the fixings is a hell of a price point, and if you know of cheaper tacos of this quality in town I'm all ears. Star.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
These tacos were good, but they didn't blow me away. For starters the tortillas were a bit weak, and while I appreciated the mix of salsas and fresh onions and cilantro, the pastor itself was slightly overcooked compared to what you might find fresh off the spit. Good, but not in my mind great. Single Star.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
I wouldn't, but if you're looking for tacos before or after your churros this isn't a bad spot. No Star. read more
