I called to make sure I could return or exchange them and provided the sale date and invoice number. I was informed of a restocking fee if no longer in paper (they weren't) and that covers must be in good condition and never used (check & check). Fast forward to today and my attempt to exchange. Initially I was told I can't exchange them because the covers were "damaged." Then told I could exchange for half store credit (to cover costs of refinishing). When I gave the sizing I needed, I was told I would need custom covers for more than double the price (but still get that very generous half credit because, you know, they wanted to do me a favor). When I declined an exchange, it then became 25% store credit of the price because the covers "can't be resold." But they felt bad for me so would do me a favor of still allowing a return. What in the used car salesman is going on at this place? After multiple attempts to escalate to management, I had the displeasure of speaking with owner Mike Rubino, who was as sarcastic as he was unhelpful. While informing me that the radiator covers could now "only be scrap metal," he said the store employee was covering a 25% refund out of his own pockets. Look if you want to steal people's money, just say that. A restocking fee and even refinishing fee is understandable. Keeping people's money just because you feel you can is, well, clearly not. We did not have good fortune in resolving via phone so we decided to go in-person to the Macys on Queens Blvd after work. There we met with Henry Cepeda in the Mattress dept. He took such time and care, explaining and listening, showing us the product how we imagined it, and pros and cons - which saves us money!! We honestly felt like he really cared about us and making sure we are comfortable with our decision and purchase. Never did he try to upsell us, or pressure us . He even spoke to his manager on our behalf to help us process a change in our order and told us of another discount which we got (which would have never been available by phone or online). This worker was genuine. We could tell he cares about customers and our experience. You are so fortunate to have him on staff. He's why we would go to Macy's. We are sure it was probably close to the end of his workday too, but he never let it show. He said any problem at all we can call him or email him or even stop by and see him. Their sales department left the message about their President's Day sale, it reminded me why not give them another try. We stopped by twice during last weekend, and got the deal done. They have lots of bilingual sales representatives, so even the customers who don't speak good English can still communicate effectively. The supposed delivery was set on Saturday. On Friday afternoon I received a reminding call and gave a four hours window for the delivery next day. And today I received another call 10 minutes before the arrival.
