I chose a pair of Costas. They were very expensive, but I was excited to invest in a nice pair of sunglasses. After I was fitted for them, I went back several weeks later to pick them up. I had ordered progressive lenses so that I could read and see far away. The transition of closer to far away was not good, and I could not see to read at all with them. The tech was very nice and said that she would order a new pair and have the lenses adjusted. When I went back the second time, then I could see to read, but could not see far away. The tech became very frustrated and walked away when I told her that I still could not see. She sent a different tech over to help me who said they would refund me for my glasses. I told her that I didn't want to be refunded, I just wanted to be able to see clearly out of the glasses that I was paying so much money for. She escorted me to the front, and I asked her why she was not offering me other alternatives for glasses that might work better with progressive lenses. She was dismissive and told me that she could not help me. If there are certain styles of glasses that do not work with progressive lenses, I should've been told that up front. I also expected a much higher level of customer service to try and find a pair that would work for me. I felt blamed, dismissed, and disrespected. I will not be going back. I called a few days later to speak to the office manager to share my experience and no one returned my call.

A total waste of time and insurance benefits with an exam that I don't feel comfortable with the results. They refused to give me a price for the prescription that they provided unless I gave them personal information which is none of their business. I asked for a quote for the lenses that they prescribed, 5 times, and the pathetic, little, entitled, worm of an employee refused unless I would give him my phone number. I will never walk into a Lens Crafters again and would suggest that everyone else would make better choices than I did.

While the staff at this location were kind and polite, my overall experience left a lot to be desired. The team seemed genuinely confused throughout my entire visit, and the information I received was often conflicting or simply incorrect. For starters, I was told they didn't have my contact lenses in stock--but it was clear they hadn't even checked. I also had to repeatedly explain that I have insurance, which didn't seem to register with them until several reminders later. The biggest issue, however, came down to the eye exam process itself. I was originally told I had to get my eyes dilated, but when I explained that I couldn't drive afterward, they suddenly said it was "no big deal" and that I could skip it--but then implied I wouldn't get the full results without it. Confused, I had one of the staff accompany me to a different LensCrafters location to get clarification. Only then did I learn that dilation wasn't actually required after all. It was incredibly frustrating to have something so basic miscommunicated so many times. To top it all off, one staff member in particular seemed especially out of it--glassy eyes, visibly confused, and clearly not confident in what she was doing. I genuinely hope she's okay, but it didn't inspire confidence in the care being provided. In short: nice people, but they seem untrained and underinformed. It felt like no one really knew what was going on. I wouldn't return to this location.

We are here to stay! The office is conveniently located near Willow Lawn, but they also have other locations in RVA. This space is clean, sleek and comfortable. The front desk assistants are always pleasant and helpful. Your eye exam at RVA Eye Care will be flawless. The assistant takes you into the pristine exam room and gives you a series of eye tests to aid Dr. Rainer in evaluating your vision. The technicians are thorough and well trained. I love the new glaucoma testing machine, I didn't feel a thing! The instruments are always sanitary being cleaned after each patient. Then Dr. Rainer, who is always so personable and professional, goes over all your results and explains your tests and charts in detail. You never feel rushed when he is reviewing your images, history and prescription. His expertise is superb and you will have peace of mind (and eye) when he's finished with your examination. Your eyeglass fitting will be efficient, relaxing, and precise. I sat with Rian, who was patient and extremely attentive as I made my choice. She even told me they painstakingly sanitized their entire collection of glasses during the Covid crisis. They wear the appropriate PPE and disinfect every pair of glasses (including tables and chairs) after the customers try them on! The selection is extensive, and they carry brands not found at those "chain" stores, so your fashion eyeglasses are will be unique. They are always willing to clean, tighten and adjust my eyeglasses and sunglasses with pleasure! And I have quite a collection! For a fabulously friendly, focused and framed experience, the choice is crystal clear: RVA Eye Care, eye wouldn't go anywhere else!
