After purchasing a new pair of glasses and new lenses for my exiting frames, I was having problems with the two lenses not matching the prescription. I returned to have both pair of glasses rechecked and adjusted many times to no avail. Finally I asked to be refunded, but instead they " pleaded" to let them remake one set of lenses, which they did. This week I noticed a crack in the right lense near the hinge area. I visited today to inquire about thei manufacturer's warranty. I was told if could happen if I wore them outside in the sunlight. That's completely unacceptable! I have been wearing corrective lenses for 50+ years and I've never heard that one before. I was told they wouldn't do anything for me. Today was my first visit to the new office. It's in a great location. I have been seeing Dr Grey for years. I have a complicated prescription with astigmatism and he has gotten the prescription right every time. My contacts are special order, and they usually keep a pair or two on hand for me. Dr Grey always takes time to explain everything. With family history of cataracts and macular degeneration, I am thrilled that they have the latest equipment to look at my eyes. This Practice has emergency service over the weekend. I have a chronic dry eye condition and sometimes it gets infected. Dr. Gray was on duty that weekend. I've been going to Brook Run Vision Center for years. Doctor care has always been outstanding. I see Dr. Peters and he is professional, knowledgeable, and explains things thoroughly with empathy and humor. In the last few years, the customer service at the front desk and with the opticians has greatly improved. The Front desk is efficient and helpful. The optician I've seen the last couple of times, Floyd, is an outstanding individual - helpful, kind, and patient. I've had a few issues with glasses and they've always been easy to work with to fix my situation. There have been a number of times I've brought glasses in that I had bent by accident or had loosened up with time and they were able to adjust or fix them on the spot. I like the way I get text reminders of upcoming visits, that's very helpful. I also appreciate the cleanliness and hygiene measures they've taken to ensure a safe and clean environment during this Covid-19 pandemic. Its Northside location is very convenient for me, living in Northside, but it's also easily accessible being very close to the I-95 Brook Road exit. They were requiring me to bill through my medical insurance when my routine annual eye exam was free through my vision insurance. Now, they do make more money with a medical billing than a routine vision exam. The only difference was "Retinal mapping" which I had done last year and Dr. Petersen told me it was only needed every other year (and you can pay for - it's $39). So they were forcing a medical billing that they'd told me was unnecessary. Instead they were trying to fleece me for $280 because of how they wanted to bill it. They flatly refused to bill my vision insurance and would ONLY bill my medical. That's wrong. I even called my vision insurance to confirm and they said that's not accurate. Plus, their frames are WAY overpriced you can find them for way less at other places and even online. Not sure what happened up this place, but you can get better care and service elsewhere! I'm familiar with Brook Run Vision Center, going all the way back to 2017. In those few years, I've seen 3 doctors and Dr. Peters being the last. At first glance, I thought Dr. Peters was a starchy Southern Baptist type. However, after getting to know him, he is very caring. He is so caring that he reminds me of my mother in that they are both no nonsense, you're going to toe the line type people. Dr. Peters was concerned for my eye health...BUT he wanted me to be more concerned! I wasn't taking care of my eye health, so he gave me a firm talking to! I also purchased eyeglass lenses from Brook Run (I already had frames, but needed updated lenses). However, the lenses were on back order, so I requested a refund and the optical department refunded my money without ever getting attitudinal about it. read more

The exam was fine. The doctor who saw me was very professional, but the receptionists and opticians were NOT great I had the worst experience trying to get frames, and I usually LOVE getting new glasses. I like to try different frames before settling. I like trying random things. I like sending pictures to friends for feedback. Alas, EVERY FRAME was locked down. I had never seen this at any optometrist office before in my life. Since I couldn't try anything on, I sat down and waited. 20 minutes went by, and nobody called me. I asked the receptionists how long it would be, and they just told me that they were short staffed. So I cancelled an appointment I had later today because I still had not been helped. Another 5 minutes go by, and I asked the receptionists if there was ANY idea where I was in the queue (so could leave and get some food as I was missing my lunch). They looked at me like I had 3 heads. Finally, I just asked for my rx so I could leave. Lo and behold, it was finally my turn! So I sat with the optician and explained I didn't want to be upsold on the lenses. I wanted whatever my insurance covered + scratch resistance. Then she pointed to one case of frames, and said that is what my insurance would cover. I reiterated that I was concerned about insurance coverage for the lenses not frames. I understood that I may pay more out of pocket for frames I like. This isn't my first rodeo. Then she asked what style I wanted. Since I didn't get to try on frames while waiting, I was kind of lost. I felt very overwhelmed and now I had this person standing over me. I said that I didn't know because I didn't get to try on anything. She said, "well... a lot of our clientele have *sticky fingers.*" Her eyes darted around the room. I said, "That's too bad. I have never experienced an eyeglass store that locks up their frames. I am just really thrown off by this." She then said in a low voice, "We are in a bad neighborhood, you know." She literally gestured towards the black customers while saying this (I think I was the only white customer at the time). I was quite taken aback by this. I DID NOT and DO NOT agree with what she was implying. So I said, "I don't think I can buy glasses here. I am going somewhere else. I need my prescription and PD measurements." I really wish I had called out her racist implications in person. I am sorry I didn't. The best I can do now is to let other people know. Moral of the story: Poor customer service from the receptionists. They treat their customers like criminals, and an optician literally implied that the neighborhood is "bad" because black people live here. read more

The front desk and eye exam staff are great but the experience is completely ruined when you get to the eyeglass selection. The woman who works in this area has the worst customer service. She was unfriendly, gave me incorrect information about what my insurance plan covers, and generally seemed as if she didn't want my business. If I could give zero stars I would. We were next on the list to be seen for my son yo be fitted with glasses. We waited and hour and no one responded to the desk clerks page for an optician. They moved slow and didn't seem to care one bit that there werr people waiting. I am so furious and disgusted because my son needs glasses and these are a very different prescription yo fill. I've been going here for years in the service has gotten worse each time. Don't expect To be helped over the phone, you will be left on hold for 30 minutes or more. Each time I call I immediately get put on hold. I can't even set up an appointment or ask a simple question because I never get to speak to anyone because they always seem so preoccupied. I will even call right when they open, or during slow hours and I still get put on hold. Whenever I try to order contacts the lady that is in charge of that department never answers the phone. It always goes to voicemail. Every single time. They need to work on their customer service. I never have an issue with an actual eye exam or with the doctors. I ordered glasses in December 2018. I went to pick up my glasses in January and the prescription did not feel right, I was told that I need 2 weeks to get used to it. I found out that the people who make the glasses did not have the prescription but they called me to tell me my glasses are ready. I will spare you the excuses of the 6 other time I went to pick up my glasses. We are March 4th 2019. I still don't have them. I had to go back 6 times in February and each time the prescription was wrong. Each time I go to the place I have to take one hour to two hours of from work. They must think I have nothing else to do. I left 2 messages to the office manager Diane and I am still waiting for a call back or an apology. I am very disappointed I like the doctors but I guess I can find another doctor. read more

I love Dr Peters and Dr Peterson . They are both very caring to the patients . I like being treated with consideration and kindness . When I went today to pick up my glasses (which no one ever called me) ; I called in and found out they were there . After I got there the people at the front desk were friendly and cheerful as ever . The guy that waited on me put my frames with the eyeglass case I picked out . When I got there he didn't have it . How it got separated I don't know 'when the glasses were in the case . So I got a child's case instead because I didn't see anything else I liked and he didn't offer me any other cases from the back . I think that was poor customer service because he shouldn't have taken the glasses out of the case and given the case to another customer . read more

THE BAD: (1) Wasn't greeted when entering the office; (2) All frames were locked down...that means you cannot try on the glasses while you wait for an optician to help you. This use to be a quality place to get an eye exam but now they are all about the mighty insurance dollar. They won't make an appointment unless you have vision coverage. They push extra eye exam services on you. The front desk is not customer oriented. The doctors may be competent but it just doesn't feel like they are there to provide quality service. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Daniel Gray for several years. We continue to see him for our optometric check-ups and prescriptions even though we moved to the other side of the city five years ago. We have been continually impressed by his knowledge and expertise. One retina specialist I was referred to by Dr. Gray asked who had made the initial diagnosis of my problem and noted that most optometrists would not have spotted that during an examination.
