Every time I come here, twice with my daughter and twice for me, the doctor is late. Not 10-15 minutes, she's always 30+ minutes. Very poor time management from Dr. Johnson. I went here after years of denial that I needed glasses. Target optical is located directly to the left or right after you walk in from the main entrance (depending which entrance you walk into), right in front of the registers. I was helped by all four of the staff members throughout my entire experience with Target Optical. All were very friendly and helpful! There is just one optometrist, Dr. Johnson, and she was great in explaining everything and performed thorough examinations. She prescribed reading glasses and her staff helped me navigate the process of picking out glasses. I thought there was a generous amount of frame styles and designers to choose from. There were also running a buy one get one half off deal in the store at the time. My reading glasses were estimated to arrive within a week and a half after the order was placed; however, I received notification they were ready for pick up within a week. When I tried them on, they needed to be slightly adjusted which the staff did right away, not more than 5 minutes, and the fit was perfect. How does no black cheery koolaid result in a 2 star rating? If you are looking for something in Rochester, first place you should go is this Target store. They have a great selection of items and are usually in stock. If not they are always helpful on finding a replacement or store that has one. My family has even started using Target as our grocery store and I think the produce is better here than places like HyVee. I agree with the fact that they employee a lot of high schoolers, but never had any problems with them. I actually think is a good thing. They always have great fast service and are always helpful and friendly. If you want older employees, go down the street to walmart where you won't have any service throughout the store and the checkout speeds are about 10 times slower. Never have had any problems with waiting around at the lines at Target, they are always trying to push you through the fastest way possible. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this Target. It's a step up from Wal-Mart, in both quality and higher price, but you get what you pay for. It's a super target so they have it all in one place (if they have what you're looking for). Pros: ~It's Target... and I like Target ~Location: close to home and right off the highway. And pretty easy to get in and out ~Nice big parking lot ~The store is always well kept and clean (although can't speak for the restrooms) ~Awesome clearance and sales! Especially on their post holiday selections (and for every holiday) and clothes Cons: ~They have about 50 registers but they only ever have about 5 open with HUGE lines... even at Christmas time... why waste all that space with unused registers? Or Why not open a few more to get your customers out quicker? ~Cashiers tend to be grumpy - and I try to be understanding because it could be contributable to long lines resulting in grumpy customers ~Staff on the floor aren't always very familiar with what they carry and where its located. I've had employees on more than one occasion tell me they carry what I'm looking for but don't know where, and I've also had some tell me that they don't carry what I'm looking for but then I end up finding it when I'm looking for something else. ~Their brand/variety selection is lacking... which is why I buy groceries and some toiletries elsewhere Overall it's a decent place to shop. read more

This might be the best location in Rochester to buy food. The produce is reliably abundant, varied and inexpensive. There's most everything you could need for groceries, including a wide variety of international spices and sauces (real wasabi!). Not a huge target fan, as I'm Canadian and we don't really have targets. But half my baby registry was here and I loved the experience. They have everything I need. Offer 15% completion discounts to use for you and for family and friends. It's limited for 1 item at a time which is a negative. They also give a goodie bag when you first sign up for your baby registry. Overall this store is clean and organized, pretty much like your standard super target. I think the optical department is great! Dr. Mary Johnson is a very through optometrist and bends over backwards to make sure you get contacts that are going to work for your particular needs. Minne-soh-tans love their Target Store-----they freakin' adore it.......I have to say that this particular store is usually staffed well ---clean---and a decent place to shop. The doctor was running behind during my appointment, so I wound up having to wait for an hour. Glad I didn't go on my lunch break during the work week! Dr. Johnson was nice, but kind of hurried, as expected. She seemed to know a lot about insurance and what was and wasn't covered. The counter lady/assistant was nice. She helped me pick out glasses, and was honest (and not rude, as can be the case). I wish they had a larger frame selection. Fun fact of the day: we were in Rochester from Thursday-Monday. Monday was the only day we didn't go to Target. At least once. Most days it was twice. Once it was three times. Addicted much?? The answer is Yes. Always Yes. We came here so often, that my mom and I had a running joke that the security cameras were probably following us around thinking we were casing the joint. There wasn't a section of the store we didn't permeate. Including the men's section. They probably thought that was amusing. However, we did buy a LOT of stuff, and the prices were really reasonable! One time we went there to buy some cheap movies, and their $5 selection is the biggest I have seen in any store. I was really impressed with that. We also ended up buying a few books for 20-30% less than we would have paid at Barnes and Noble (we checked and then actually went hack to target) What I think could use a little more work would be their liquor selection. They have your basic american brews and a couple basic mexican ones (Corona) and...that's about it.... So, no, Target, we weren't casing the joint, but we just knew you would be able to fulfill most, if not all of our needs. Including an Avengers shield. The sushi is very good, if pricey. There were two registers open at the time, each with at least three customers in line, and none an express lane. one of my 3 faborite grocery store her in Rochester, when I need any kind of groceries or clothes or baby stuff even camping or school supplies towels kitchen things and so on. Electronics is pretty well also. Its close to home and the south end Target is a super target as is the north here in Rochester, combining runs to the store is best as Lowes and Fleet Farm stores are 2 other major stores across from Target, as are many others Dicks sporting goods a couple of nice clothing stores next to target also, Need a hair cut theres a place in the small strip mall next to target. want some soup? I chose to use my existing frames when I got my new bifocal transition lenses from my optometrist. Unfortunately, they began to fall apart in ways I hadn't expected. I was told at several frame shops that it was virtually impossible to find a new frame for lenses that were cut for a different frame. That is until I met Barbara at Target Optical North. I had stopped in simply to get a lost nose piece replaced, which she was happy to do, but I also mentioned how I really needed a new frame. She said it was a big challenge with today's sizes and shapes but if I could leave my glasses for a day or two, she would hunt through her supply for a possibility. Not only was she willing to look, which no one else had offered, but she also found a very nice pair that fit perfectly and looked fine. I was surprised, impressed, and felt very lucky.
