I have ordered contact lenses at this place and after months of wearing them my left eye was blurry and hurting. After I went back to optometrist he realized this place gave me the wrong prescription on left eye. They replaced it with samples. On my second order of only two boxes of different brand it took 3 months to deliver never received . When I called back they ordered replacement again wrong order. I have never had so many issues with ordering contacts. There are plenty of people working there but mostly chatting instead of focusing on work. Only one person there is helpful if you are lucky to get her. If I could give them zero, I would. I could sue them for damaging my left eye. read more

If I could give six stars I would. In the past I've always gotten glasses at the doctors office, but our insurance didn't cover that so we went to the Westlake Village Target Optical for my son's new glasses. Everyone who helped us was great. They are a nice, helpful and through. While I'm not a fan of paying for extra insurance I did this time, because they are for an active kid who wears them during PE. I had an Exam and purchased glasses a few years ago and had a good experience. I called recently to schedule an appointment. I gave my insurance information on Monday and called back for some general information including pricing on Tuesday. Alex took my information and said she would call me back. She didn't call back but I was texted an Intake form online to fill out. I filled it out and called back. I asked Alex about the form, she said I was sent the wrong one. I then explained the information for my insurance was given on Monday, her response was "I wasn't here yesterday ", but in the voicemail I received on Monday she said her name was Alex. She later confirmed it was her. Sadly, I don't feel comfortable paying for an Eye exam and glasses at this location anymore. read more

Over the summer of 2021 I purchased a total of four pairs of glasses . Two for myself and two for my son at a total of 1700$ . I liked the frame so much I actually bought a second pair in a different colour only this time the lenses were made at Costco that quoted me 80$ versus 220$ at target. Then delta and omicron arrived and my family and I hunkered down . All this time I wore my target gold frame glasses and had issues with headaches which I chalked to stress. Then last week after exhausting all medical testing that hey maybe it's the glasses. I started wearing the Costco made pair . And sure enough no more headaches! Do I ventured today back to the Target store with both pairs and told them my predicament . That's when I got bad attitude from Lisa who works there . She was filled with excuses why same frame same prescription theirs gave me headaches( hint their measurement for the Center were diff than Costco) Then she first proceeds to tell me how she won't give a refund( never asked for one) and then tells me how even if they redo the lenses 'I won't be happy' Say what??? After paying 335$ ? Finally I left my glasses for a redo but the convo with her has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Target Optical that is at least double the price of Costco with really poor customer service? Never again! read more

Had a very great experience with Lisa. She was very helpful and patient. She helped me pick out two perfect frames.

After several years I won't be buying glasses from Target Optical again. I had enjoyed working with Lisa in the past but when I last purchased glasses and sunglasses, the prescription given at the optometrist next door was incorrect. When I came in to have them replaced per their policy, the guy helping me did not know what he was doing so Lisa stepped in. He then made a cheeky/rude comment as an aside. As the manager of the store, she could have handled his unprofessionalism several ways but instead chose to snap at me - "just so you know you cant just come and change these again you know". Glad to know Target Optical really stands behind their policies. I called today to have my prescription sent to me and was given incorrect instructions to retrieve it myself so I wouldn't rush back to the Optometrist either. read more

Met with doctor to refill contact prescription. Had an irritant in my eye that I assumed he could check since I was seeing him anyway. He informed me that would fall under the "medical exam" and it would cost me $100 additional out of pocket. I asked him to disregard and continue with eye exam so I could fill Rx for contacts. He then told me he was no longer comfortable doing the eye appointment. So the doctor did not help me with original purpose of visit, nor was he able to look to see if there might just be something in my eye. Complete waste of time. Will not be going back. read more

I haven't been to the eye doctor in at least 4-5 years. I've never worn glasses in my life but recently thought it may be time for another check up since driving at night sometimes isn't the best. I made an appointment at Target Optical since I work right across the street and it was way more professional than I'd think for an optometrist within a Target! I had Dr. Engleman since my appt. was on one of Dr. Cohen's days off, but she was super nice and professional! I'd recommend her as well. The two people within opitcal that helped me afterwards were amazing as well. As I said I've never worn glasses so once I got my prescription (yes, two astigmatisms, so I got my first ever prescription!) they helped me out in the process of picking out frames and lenses and the best deals with my VSP insurance. I wish I remember the people's names who helped me but one was the manager, a man who was very nice and girl with long dark hair who helped me most of the time as well. Highly recommend! Doc Cohen and his staff are super genuine and kind. After I made my appointment online, his staff called to confirm right away! Paulina was so sweet over the phone and in person, we "Stan" her as the kids say. When I arrived (super early) they had me wait for 5 minutes for the appointment before me to make it, and when they didn't I was swooped in to begin my exam. I loved that they gave the other appointment time to make it! Doc was amazing and spoke to me like we already knew each other, much appreciated Doc! When I first signed up with Target Optical/Westlake Village there was a big mixup with the way my online account was set up. I don't know if it was human error when the store associate entered my email address and info at the store to set up my account, or if it was a backend/database issue, but when I tried to log in for the first time to check on my order, the website returned all this personal information for OTHER PEOPLE. I wasn't able to get any proper assistance on this when I called either the store or the corporate Target phone number, and was told that it was being fixed, so, as aggravating and troubling as it was, I nonetheless forgot about it. This was OVER A YEAR AGO.... Fast forward to 2018, I need to order more contacts. I thought I would try and see if I could order them via my online account. And just now, after logging into the account associated with my email address, the personal information listed is for someone who is, again, NOT ME. It's showing her home address, phone number, email address and apparently her order history. This is yet a different person from the people whose private information the website returned when I tried to log in to my account over a year ago. The folks in the office were all really nice, but this online account issue, plus the fact that it's still uncorrected after so much time, is rather unsettling... read more

The best part of this visit was definitely the staff! Everyone I spoke with was very personable and friendly. I can't speak to the reviews about scheduling issues- I walked in and they were able to take me right away. They also have great deals when buying both contacts and glasses. Andrew was attentive even though I was the last customer of day. The lady selling the frames (didn't get her name unfortunately) even helped me pick out my glasses. After a week I called to confirm the day I'm coming the lady said " sorry we do not have your appointment " So I set it up again and finally see a doctor. The Dr. said come back for another day to finalize my contact lens fitting.. came back three days later at 300pm and 3 patients are in the office.. waited for 45 min still not being attended to ... I cannot wait any longer, so I set a date to come back and this time when I called to confirm the receptionist didn't show an appointment for me again! - well ladies.... you lost a patient appointment for the last time, so sorry - I'm not coming back" ;-( negative star- ) read more

Beware! Needed an eye exam and thought I would give my local Target in Newbury Park a try. It was easy to book an appointment online. I arrived at my appointed and was immediately asked for my insurance card and a credit card. After they told me that they did not accept my insurance I told the receptionist that I would not be able to keep the appointment. She apologized and told me she would rip up my credit card information. Come to find out, Target still charged me $160 for an exam I never had. I had to spend an hour on the phone disputing it with my credit card. What a scam. read more

Went to Target optical after my usual big box membership optometrist was booked for more than a month. They had an opening the same day, which isn't always the case, but I got lucky. Dr. Cohen's partner (I forget her name at this time) was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and I felt took her time to do a complete eye exam and discuss what glasses would truly work best for me. My past optometrist was good, but I always felt rushed, the tiny lobby within that warehouse up the street was always crowded. Target was much different and their optometrist department and eyewear departments are run independently from Target by professionals and specialists. Alex, who said he's usually at their Camarillo location, was especially helpful, courteous, and patient. They also seemed to have a larger selection of eyewear then the Club store. More importantly, as I have used progressives in the past, the optical manager, who had I think 16 years plus experience, explained that there are dozens of different lens available to be used for progressive glasses and not all are equal or a correct match for each person's needs. I had little to no success with my progressive lens in the past and he explained that my past location had a great doctor and good prices, but only uses one progressive lens manufacturer to allow for quantity discounts. They are of good quality, but as I also have quite a bit of astigmatism, probably were not the best option for me and my preferred eyewear options. I haven't received my glasses yet, but using VSP the exam was only $10, retina photo about $15, and glasses with frames $109.00. The frames are a high end, name brand and lens UV with glare and scratch resistant. Great price, wonderful advice, and excellent service. read more

I went there for an eye exam a few weeks ago. I called in to setup an appointment the same day - very easy process. Dr. Cohen took me back, did a complete eye exam and prescribed me new contact lenses. She was very professional and polite, and she answered all my questions and concerns. As a health care professional, I appreciated this process from start to finish. Her staff priced out the lenses and had them shipped directly to my house. Very unprofessional. Booked appointment 2 weeks prior and received email confirmation. When I got there they told me it was their lunch hour and my appt was 2 hours prior. I had an appointment at 10:30 for an eye exam. When I arrived at 10:20 the lady at the front desk rudely tells me that I missed my appointment because it was at 10. I am a customer for the optical department which is independent from the Jamie Cohen practice but won't try again with Jamie Cohen practice. There are better ways to talk to a potential client. Ok so yeah. I'm thinking optical in Target? What like Walmart optical? Hmmm. I check it out just to compare prices on frames as my optometrists office charges huge amounts of Money for "name brands". Not a fan of having to hock the house and surrender my first born for glasses so yeah, I check em out. Let Me tell everyone reading this. Well I guess I am but you get the point. The entire staff was awesome!!! Very accommodating and very friendly. They all said hello even being with a client. I've not been to that optometrist but since my insurance is taken there, I'm going to go and see if I like them. I do like the little book where you buy the frames. Your not over loaded with options that make no sense. ( those 70's frames and the like) no fillers just quality for any budget. I myself chose one of the more spendy frames simply because I like a certain style and these met the criteria I'm looking for. Not to mention they are carbon fibre. For me.... That is a blessing. I'm hard on my glasses. I work in an industry that can will and does tend to make my glasses fall off and I ride a motorcycle so my glasses have to fit In My helmet. Long story short.... Yeah to late.... This place is more than worth it for anyone to go and get taken care of the way you should be taken care of. Completely and with respect. Going to Target Optical in Westlake was such a good experience! Not only was I able to make an appointment the same day ONLINE but the staff was so friendly (they reshaped a drop in shopper's glasses for free while I was there), helpful, knowledgable-- I am a client for life now! They kept adding discount on discount to my contact order to the point of which the final price ended up being HALF of what I am used to paying. Then, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they had my contacts shipped to my house for free. I didn't even have to make a second trip to the office!
