Dr. Paruangao is good but the staff, especially the guy named Ruben is just the worst! I had to go there three times to get them just to correctly order my contacts. One excuse after another why they did not place my order as promised. Five weeks from my last visit with the Optometrist and today they assured me, once again, that they would place my order. It's a shame, as I have been a patient of Dr. Parungao for many years, but I will never go there again and find it necessary to warn others about the incompetence of her staff. read more

I came here when I had an emergency with my eye. They got me in quickly and the entire staff was very warm and welcoming. They even followed up with me the next morning to make sure I was doing ok. I felt very comfortable here and will definitely be back for my eye care needs. read more

Had really bad experience with this facility, I visited them in Nov 2021 and he prescribed me reading glasses above a power I was expecting and after the glasses done, I cannot use it as give me blurry vision. Also in another incident I requested them for a prescription eye drop and send prescription to my pharmacy but he wanted to give him $50 to get just a prescription. If I could give a zero I would, I walked in here since my 4 year old was at school and could save time on getting her prescription filled and buying lenses and frames for her; they denied me saying that they unable to accommodate me on buy the frames and that my daughter had to be there with me; target on the other hand required just the prescription my VSP benefits through my employer my ID and her prescription and boom we had it in about 48 hours. This place has no customer service and just will tail you to get consulted by them when sometimes all you want is simply to get the job done and leave with no hassle. I would have given them negative rating if possible. The store canceled my appointment without informing me. They cited the reason that I was late by 5 mins. Awful receptionist who had no manners to tell this gracefully. I think they have too much business. So they are unthoughtful in wasting people's time. read more

Bring a magazine because both times I've been here the wait times are a minimum of a half an hour. :( They have most of their glasses locked up so you can't even amuse yourself by trying on glasses. And, I still can't believe they don't have a coffee table with magazines or something. They do have a large flat screen subliminally selling Lasak surgery and bifocal lenses. Even though it's animated, a few of the eye surgery procedures made me queasy. The optometrist assistant is dry and efficient. The doctor is friendly but fast. There are 12 people working here but most seem to be surfing the web. The front desk girls are just OK. (Obviously they haven't attended Customer Service 101.) They do a lot of tests not covered by insurance so even though I'm fortunate enough to have excellent insurance, I still paid $130 for tests. Make sure you know your insurance coverage too because they kept telling me that my insurance would cover both my contact lenses and my frames, even though I knew this wasn't true. It was tough to get them to write me a prescription for my contacts so I could buy them cheaper online. So be prepared for a fight here. I haven't purchased my frames yet. (A couple of $ emergencies came up - Vet bill & computer died) So once I have a bit more money saved up I'll go back in for my glasses and will let you know how it goes. Just to be a booger, I'm going to have them unlock every single pair. hee hee hee read more

Updated Review 4/17/15. After calling 3 times trying to get help I finally received a call from Elizabeth - who was very gracious & apologetic. She indicated that the person that I spoke do was unaware that in certain emergency situations exceptions are made for the Dr. to issue a pair of temp contacts. She even mailed them to my house so they could be brought to me at the hospital. Every business has problems - how they choose to correct them shows the true character of the business its self & the people who work there. I appreciate that problems happen - I am very impressed with their willingness to rectify the situation. Thank you! First review around March 17, 2015 Negative stars. I have gone here for 10 years +++ I ripped my last contact & needed just one pair because my mother is Dying in ICU at USC Keck. I've been going there for over 30 years and have always gotten top notch service. So good that since I've moved far away, I still make that 200 mile round trip twice. The new Doc is extremely knowledgeable as well as kind so I was pleased with that. The office ladies have always been pleasant towards me which I'm forever grateful since I'm not exactly easy on the eyes so, thank you kindly. I have been a patient for a couple of years. I love this office. The office is always neat and clean, the way a doctor's office should be. You'd be surprised that so many doctors offices are not clean. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. They will spend as much time as you need to help you pick out glasses or learn to put in contact lenses. And WOW, Dr. P cares more about my eyes more than I do. She made sure that I knew all about them and that I don't have cataracts, glaucoma or macular degeneration. I didn't even know I should be worried about all those things. I'm glad someone is looking out for my eyes. My new glasses are great. They look great and I see great. The staff is always so friendly and willing to help me with anything when I come into the office. I will definitely come back, and tell all of my friends too. read more

I am a new patient at Diamond Eye with Dr. Parungao, had glasses and have since had LASIK done. They helped me with my prescriptions and have since done my LASIK post-op exams. I have always made appointments, as is common with optometry/doctor appointments, and the wait has always been very reasonable, a matter of minutes within my arrival and never after my scheduled appointment. The staff is very friendly and helpful and Dr. Parungao is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend Diamond Eye to anyone who is looking for a great optometrist! read more

I went in for an eye exam for contacts and glasses. I do not have insurance, and their prices are unbelievably low! They also gave me the best options to save me money. When I went in, I was unable to get a sitter for my baby. It was so peaceful in there and they were so quick that my daughter stayed asleep the whole time! read more

Very disappointed with the service I received from Dr. Vicky Leung and her staff, I guess they did not want my business.

I had an eye emergency last week. I was visiting my sister in Simi and her Great Dane puppy jumped on me and accidentally put her paw into my right eye at 10:30pm. It was horribly painful. I went to the ER right away and they said I had a corneal abrasion then referred me to an optometrist. My sister brought me into Diamond Optometry the next morning and I am so glad she did! I have always had perfect vision. When my sister drove me to Diamond, I was scared, could barely move my eye, and I was in lots of pain. Dr Mak was very kind and has a great bedside manner. He knew exactly what to do and examined my eye very thoroughly (after numbing me, of course, which was easy and fairly painless!). He used a treatment combination of dilating my eye, then he placed a thin contact as a "bandage" over the affected eye which cut my pain level in half with no meds! He gave me several different eye drops as well as a prescription for an antibacterial ointment. He was so caring that he called me back in again at 5pm that evening to check on my progress! The next day, Diamond was closed but one of the owners, Dr. Leung, saw me at her office elsewhere to follow up since I was an emergency. She is *fabulous* too and very knowledgable. I was able to drive yesterday, thanks to Diamond's *amazing* care. The best part, all 3 visits were only $200! In the Bay Area it would have been double the price. Wow! The only reason I am giving two stars is because the office is pretty nice, and everyone here is so nice and friendly. They will spend as much time as you need to help you with contacts and glasses, either its resizing or what glasses to choose. BUT I have been going here for 4 years and ive telling the optometrist that I didn't think I can see the same in both eyes and I felt like they were being strained, and when she would check them she said each time that both eyes were the same. I even told them that I was getting constant migraines in the one eye I thought was weaker. Anywho, I went to schedule an appointment so I can get contacts and they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg just for an appointment and for a retinal scan. So I ended up going to Costco which was way cheaper and they gave me a contact prescription and lenses prescription. The optometrist at Costco said she can see my eyes straining with my new glasses on and she then said it was because the prescription was too high and one eye is a lower prescription than the other. Which aggravated me because I have been having migraines in the weaker eye for a long time, and I was being told that both eyes were the same. It turns out Diamond Eye gave me -3.75 FOR BOTH EYES, when I was apparently a -3.50 in one eye, and a -3.10 in the other. The service here is great, and the optometrist is really nice, but because of my experience I feel that the optometrist did not care to double check both my eyes. The fact that I had told her numerous times I thought i couldn't see the same in both eyes and she said they were the same is what really aggravates me. I just wish this was discovered a few years back, not when I am 20 with migraines in my right eye since I was 17. I can see better now, with no migraines. Hopefully no one else has to go through this, and has a better experience here than I did. read more

Dr. Joanne P. Is great! Very friendly and takes very good care of all her clients. After my LASIK surgery I went to her for all of my follow up visits for 12months to make sure everything is GOOD after surgery. She has been great and really goes on and beyond. Just to give you a great example a little bit after my surgery I had a trip plan to MIAMI and she was a little concern about me going since the surgery was only a few weeks before so she gave me her personal Mobil number to contact her in case of an emergency well I was on vacation. I don't know of a lot of doctors that do that BUT she does so thank you Dr. P for being so caring! read more

Terrible service and extremely rude. I had an issue with my prescription. My pharmacist called and said it was rejected. Instead of the doctor calling me to explain why, I had to ask. When they said you need to have your annual exam I said, ok, set it. They could not set it until April. So I said, ok, ask the doctor since it was so long to renew it one more time. she said no. Not one phone call again to explain not one apology. When I went in and expressed my concern, one lady rudely explained but couldn't even give me eye contact. Wow! how mature... I asked to pick up my records to go elsewhere. Any apologies again? Any thing can we do to save you as customer? NOPE. Pretty sad. Never again. read more

I had been going here for 30 yrs when Dr Diamond owned it. Years later he sold to what seemed like a corp. They began charging for contact lense fittings and changed customer friendly policies to ones that protect themselves. I continued to put up w/ it. Recently i went in to pay cash so they can submit my eye glasses for lense upgrade. The only one who could take paymnts was on the phone so i was asked to wait. She had been on phone for 10 min so i had to get back to work. I wouldnt have minded but i had called ahead to make sure they could help me. I was told yes. I left my glasses with receptionist. Later i was called to come back to make payment. I said i had cash. She aplogized and said they couldnt submit my glasses until i made paymnt. I had been customer there for 3o yrs and that was not taken into consideration! I asked her to please just submit them since they were already going to take 7 to 10 days to come back. I never liked that length of time anyway. She said no, she had to get payment and blamed the "new" receptionist for not taking my pymnt. RIDICULOUS! I had had it with their horrible policies and service! My husband went to get my glasses at the end of the day and they never called me to apologise. read more

I also never wait more than five minutes to be seen by the doc. It is so refreshing to go to an office that is conscious of your time and sticks to scheduled appointment times. We went to Diamond Optometry, in Simi Valley, for exams and new glasses. It turned out to be a terrible experience. We had to return several times, but they still could not get the prescriptions right. Meanwhile, they referred up to an Opthamalogist, who confirmed the rx's were wrong, and made us perfect glasses. Diamond Optometry have our glasses that they could not make correctly...they received them back by registered mail. They have our money and will NOT REFUND IT. We have nothing from them...no glasses and no refund. This is WRONG on so many levels. I highly recommend that you do not get involved with these people. The more your have to complain, the worse their attitude becomes. read more

The optometrist is good, thorough, and careful. That is why they even got 2 stars. The glasses sakes people are like used car dealers and will upsell every chance they get. Moreover, they will try to sell more expensive frames, even if they do not fit your requirements. I did not create this review after one visit. I have been going here for more than 10 years. After they changed ownership, but kept the same name, things started to spiral. The last two times i went there were terrible. I said specifically that i need sturdy glasses, because i often break them. I chose some acetate frames, but they steered me towards the much more expensive memory metal. I stated my concers about the strength, but they insisted that these were th geir strongest glasses. The first pair broke within a week, just falling off my face and me catching them. They replaced the frames and the second pair broke after 2 months in a similar situation. I have had a pair of warby parker acetate frames for mor than 5 years and they only cost $100 as opposed to the memory metal glasses that were close to $1000, before insurance. They played a similar game, on my most recent visit, but i was ready. I gave them this second chance, but that was it. Be really careful as to frame price if you go here. I repeat, the optometrist is great, but get glasses elsewhere. read more

This is a great place! So cheerful, a great staff and doctor, these people really make me feel like I'm part of the family. They are efficient and caring, and I know I have particular eyes but they can definitely take care of me here. I would recommend it to anyone! I see negative reviews on here and I have no idea how that's even possible. I'm sure that those negative reviews are probably people just having sour grapes.
