The biggest downer was the obvious surveillance of me while at the self checkout. The observer/associate was so obvious about watching me to the degree that he lost awareness that there were customers who needed his assistance! They've been closed here throughout Covid and I was looking forward to their return. However the company announced they were closing 60+ stores not long ago and just recently made another announcement about pulling products from their inventory for political reasons . I'm not a fan of politically motivated corporate nonsense under any circumstances. If it's a Mom & Pop or family owned operation then I am much more inclined to be more sympathetic, from a free speech perspective, and I'm not weighing in, pro or con, a specific issue here. However I am exercising my constitutionally protected rights of free expression, speech, and assembly by writing this post, speaking my mind and not gathering at one of their stores. I have read exhaustive arguments of Citizens United and other legal free speech arguments, as it relates to corporations, going back to the 1800's and understand that those entities are broadly protected for their expressions but I just personally disagree with its practice. I'm leaving out professional sports and news outlets and entertainment entities because it would be easier to list the ones that I don't have on my list of no-go's joining Dick's, Marriot, Hyatt, Lyft, GrubHub, Starbucks, Papa John's, Time Warner, T-Mobile, Kohl's, K-mart, Wayfair, Sephora, Forbes and more but the one that I have long missed the most Ben & Jerry, that one stung a little :-) Bottom line: My list is long fluid but Bed, Bath and Beyond is the latest sad addition.

The cashier was unfriendly and could not be bothered when I asked a question about a sale item. She just yawned multiple times and pointed to the tag. She wouldn't clarify how the yellow tag system worked and refused to even communicate with me beyond saying yes or no. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. The manager finally stepped in and answered my question politely and clearly. This used to be my favorite store, but it is no longer worth it if I have to be treated like I'm imposing on the employees by shopping there.

We know the store markets itself as a Christian-owned business, so we expected displays honoring Christ's victory over death--crosses, empty tombs, or verses like 1 Corinthians 15:20 proclaiming Him as the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. What a letdown. The aisles were overrun with pastel Easter bunnies, eggs, and chocolate-themed trinkets--secular fluff that turns the holiest day of the year into a candy holiday. She hunted for anything pointing to the risen Savior, but it was slim pickings: a few generic crosses buried among the pagan holdovers. This isn't what Easter means to us. It's about Jesus conquering the grave, not hopping rabbits. Hobby Lobby, if you're truly standing for Christ, why not lead with the Gospel truth instead of blending in with the world's watered-down version? We left empty-handed and disheartened.

Ohmygosh. The World is so crazy all over…read more The other day Hubby & I were at Grocery champ next door & decided to pop into this store for the first time. We looked around, we thought it was very cool, kinda like a big lots. Hubby found a super fun pair of sunglasses he loves & moi found this clear plastic shower brush that I LOVE LOVE LOVE for less than $2 bucks. Then, couple days later, I told hubby next time we go to Grocery Champ remind me to pick up another one of the clear plastic brushes from that Roses Express store that I LOVE so much just so I will have a back up one. Anyhoo, we go over there & some crazy person tried to burn it down at 3am. The whole front of the store was burned & it was closed. Today, we go there to see if it's open again. They are having a "Sidewalk Fire Sale" bc all the inventory in the store smells like smoke. I was not able to get another brush, however, they told us that they will be open again, inside, in about a month & I can get one then. Hopefully. Will return to update.

Sadly, though, I can't shop there anymore, because vagrants have started harassing us in the parking lot every time we go there. The last one was a doozy with the gift of gab who had to tell us his life story and even broke out in song oblivious, and really disrespectful, of our commitments, obligations, and responsibilities. It is surprising that the store managers in this shopping center, especially Roses, are tolerating this, as it is my understanding that one of these vagrants started the fire at the store a few months ago that forced it to shut down temporarily. But it is what it is.

I have purchased many Rustic pieces from OKC to the Dallas farmers market. When I was in College I actually worked at the Rustic Furniture Store at the Dallas Farmers Market for a little while. I'm pretty much an expert on the process. Most of its imported from Mexico & I spend a great deal of time down there also. Anyhoo, some of the pieces here are very similar to what I am used to seeing & purchasing. However, their prices are just way to high here currently compared to Oklahoma/Texas.
