### Hobby Lobby - 6235 N Davis Hwy, Pensacola, FL As a Bible-believing Christian, my wife and I headed to Hobby Lobby on North Davis Highway this Easter season, excited to find meaningful decorations to celebrate the true miracle of our Lord's resurrection. We know the store markets itself as a Christian-owned business, so we expected displays honoring Christ's victory over death--crosses, empty tombs, or verses like 1 Corinthians 15:20 proclaiming Him as the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. What a letdown. The aisles were overrun with pastel Easter bunnies, eggs, and chocolate-themed trinkets--secular fluff that turns the holiest day of the year into a candy holiday. She hunted for anything pointing to the risen Savior, but it was slim pickings: a few generic crosses buried among the pagan holdovers. This isn't what Easter means to us. It's about Jesus conquering the grave, not hopping rabbits. Hobby Lobby, if you're truly standing for Christ, why not lead with the Gospel truth instead of blending in with the world's watered-down version? We left empty-handed and disheartened. read more

The staff was very clearly riding the clock and was not there to be friendly or helpful with the customers. Multiple times I heard the staff talking to each other about not wanting to be there and wishing the store would close already. The cashier was unfriendly and could not be bothered when I asked a question about a sale item. She just yawned multiple times and pointed to the tag. She wouldn't clarify how the yellow tag system worked and refused to even communicate with me beyond saying yes or no. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. The manager finally stepped in and answered my question politely and clearly. This used to be my favorite store, but it is no longer worth it if I have to be treated like I'm imposing on the employees by shopping there. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. My boyfriend bought 3 mirrors and the manager (I guess?) chased him outside and accused him of stealing when he literally checked out right next to her. She said she needed to see his receipt and said they check all receipts (which they definitely don't, I've shopped here numerous times) and he showed her. Wow. Love Love Love hobby lobby for all kinds of art projects & home goods. They have a really great fabrics section but they only have a handful of outdoor fabrics at this location. I find that really odd since this is Florida. However, with less than 10 colors to choose from, they did have one outdoor fabric in a lovely pink stripe available that would work well as outdoor patio pillows. So I did score a couple yards for some pillows to go with my chaise lounge chairs. Will Return. read more

Imagine Michaels on steroids... that's Hobby Lobby. They carry a large selection of supplies for artists and crafters. I do book arts (art journals), paint, draw, knit, crochet, and scrapbook, so I'm thankful that they carry some things I need. The aisles are long and plentiful and I can spend hours in here and still not see everything in the store. Aside from that, they carry decor, A LOT of it! They have furniture, picture frames, wall art, clocks, baskets, kids toys, wedding supplies, baking supplies, seasonal decorations, magazines, artificial florals and greenery, and supplies for just about any artsy craft or hobby you'd want to dabble in. I was working on some pages for a chunky art book group and needed a variety of things to complete my projects. They had some of the items I was looking for and I was happy to find some of them were also on sale. I picked up a few things that weren't on sale and was able to pull up a coupon from their website for 40% off one regular priced item. I'll say the associates are not the most helpful or personable. When associates, including the manager, walk past you and they don't look in your direction, say hi, or ask if you need assistance, that's a major customer service issue. The layout of this particular store is kind of wonky, but I am able to find things on my own most of the time. The checkout process is time consuming as they don't have scanners here; they have to manually type in item codes and prices. When I'm in a bind and need something quick, I check here. They tend to be overpriced on some things so it's always good to check their website and see what's on sale for the week. Matte and frame for an old 1690 document. Already had the frame, so walked to back and shortly a super technical 'framer' named Russell (i think) took over. He picked the color, suggested a better glass, made the cut of the matte, fitted it perfectly, put corners on the old document, wired the back, etc. All while i was standing there. Looks great and cost about $60 which included the $25 new glass He told me stories of someone in town who owns original art like van gogh, etc and trusts Russell with the fitting and framing. read more

What is going on at this location? Over the past several months i've been in the store approximately four or five times and I've left empty-handed about 70% of that time. The inventory is extremely low on most items with lots of empty spaces all over the store. It's very disorganized and chaotic looking. it's a large location, but you could probably cut it by half if they consolidated things. The first couple of times I thought perhaps it was just seasonal changes. But it's been this way for months and they never seem to be fully stocked or organized for any holiday and at any time. I'm not sure if this is happening elsewhere and this is the only location I am aware of within a reasonable distance, but this store is a huge continual disappointment. read more

This store is so clean and neat and easy to get lost in because once your mind start to wonder you tend to lose yourself. My creative juices started to flow and I wanted to buy everything! I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner but now that I know about it I am going to always be here. Just walking around seeing everything they have to offer, it makes you wonder; what don't they have? The line/check-out situation at Hobby Lobby is a disaster! They need to switch to a scan system rather than inputting each item's price and each item's discount. This takes way too long! And the return process is the same except the manager has to be called to verify that they still carry the item (because it isn't being scanned from their inventory), to put their manager code in, and to sign the receipt. I write this as I am waiting to return one item. I am number 5 in the second return lane and it has not moved at all in 10 minutes. After this return, I will likely not return to Hobby Lobby. read more

Hobby Lobby is located next to Books-A-Million and is open till 8pm (closed on Sunday). They always have a weekly special going on (check their website for details), so definitely visit if you're a crafter or artist! The selection is 3x's that of other craft stores and they carry a decent selection of children's craft sets. I've never had an issue with customer service but I usually never need assistance and just want to check out. That said, they are good about having several registers open so you don't have to wait for long. This is also a great place to buy study supplies that you may have forgotten while on your way to Books-A-Million. read more

It's a very large and spacious craft/hobby store. Atleast half of it consists of tacky fake plants and flowers and decorative things (plates, wall hanging, etc). I have been able to find most everything I've needed here. The staff isn't all that friendly or helpful, at least not everytime I've asked to locate items or had questions on things. The people that work at the check out lines act inconvenienced as they check you out. One manager that I came into contact with had an attitude and spoke down to a customer I was with. I called recently to locate an item and the employee talked to me like I was dumb, because HE didn't know what I was talking about. I've been shopping at Hobby Lobby for years, I shop their competitors, too as HL honors their sale papers. I have found them, helpful and well trained.I understand they are getting some heat from outsiders regarding their personnel policies. Personally I have always admired them for their being closed on Sundays and standing by their beliefs. If some people believe abortion is a form of birth control well shame on them, after you're pregnant is too late for birth control. Try some self control. Leave the agenda at the door, a private biz can and should be allowed to PROVIDE any healthcare they want. Any person who wants to work there can provide their own savings supplement if they need that kind of birth control. A business owner should not have to cover it - like smoking, it is a risk and the business should not have to bear it just because empoyees do not want to. Hobby Lobby could go the way of other stores and provide NO benefits, leaving the staff to go out and purchase their own healthcare. I will continue to shop Hobby Lobby in person and on-line, this is America and a private business should conduct themselves as they see fit! read more
