I was driving by on my way to a pet food store, when I saw him like 40 people holding signs that target was evil, when I turned in a number of them started screaming at me that I couldn't shop there when I had to turn around. It turns out they were upset because target closed their DEI department. Inside was a clean bright store, I only went to food, alcohol and pet supplies, but everything was well laid out in orderly. There were hardly any other customers, so it was really easy to check out the old-fashioned way with the cashier instead of self Service. A lot of the food items in there limited but broad grocery section. We're a little higher end, and cost a little more, but overall a very pleasant shopping experience. read more

I shop here regularly, it's within walking distance of my home. Bi-weekly I also bring my elderly mother and her friends to shop here. They are remodeling the store. The new layout is nice and there are more self checkout lanes which is nice. My elderly mother and friends told me today that they no longer want to shop at this Target as the new store lighting hurts their eyes and makes it difficult to see. They were pulling out their sunglasses to reduce the glare from the harsh bright lighting. All of them have light eyes blue/green which tend to be more sensitive to very bright lights. I hope someone at Target Corp realizes that excessive bright light causes glare affecting visual acuity before they roll out this lighting to other stores. read more

Hailing from the land of Target, I am drawn to their stores no matter where I am. I made a quick run here while visiting a sibling. The grocery selection was smaller than I was used to but the reason for the rating is that the clothing section and fitting room were utter chaos. Corporate would be embarrassed at how disorganized the swim section was and the condition of the fitting room. No one checking people in or out and all the fitting rooms were heaped with discarded clothing. Do better Target read more

In store, the workers are great. If you try to do the drive up service if it's even drizzling, they don't come out. The guys they hired to do this job are SOFT. Other stores will deliver stuff to your house, or bring it out to your car and rain, snow, sleet or hail. That's what raincoats and umbrellas are for. at least put some on your app that says if it's raining, we won't bring stuff to your car, or when people alert you that you're there you call them and ask them to come inside or pull up to the door. No response and people after you've spent anywhere from 35 to several hundred dollars is just bull crap. Reason to drive to go to other stores. read more

Worst Target ever. Right now I am standing in a super long line at guest services. The longest I've ever experienced at a Target. Nobody is hustling. Around me are about 8 employees just hanging out talking. I heard a manager say, "Is that the line for guest services!?" Instead of sending someone over or checking on progress, she just shrugged, ignored, and let everybody around her continue doing nothing. I shop at​ the Southfield Target often. The store is always clean and I can pretty much get in and out during my visits. During my visit today, I witnessed what appeared to be a Manager talking to one of their employees in the technology dept. The way this female was speaking to the young man made me want to intervene! The conversation definitely should not have been held in the public eye. If that was an actual Manager, she needs training on how to speak to her employees. read more

Worst guest service I have ever experienced! They had me on hold for an hour transferring me back and forth for a receipt! When I called back again after being on hold for 15 minutes, The woman cut me off and put me on hold again! I was taken aback by the audacity of their employees. Management definitely should step in the department and re train these employees or replace them with employees that actually care about their customers. I was looking for a chromebook there. The selection wasn't so great, but, then, they are not an Electronics, or office store. The lines were pretty long. Again-not unexpected. My issue was the Crime in the parking lot. I turned left to get into the parking lot, and some Fool was Mad that I cut in front of him. A Normal person would have simply honked the horn, or maybe flashed his lights. HE, in contrast. followed me all over the lot. I ran in, bought my items, and came out. He's still circling, like a Shark! I get in my car, and, lo-and-behold-there's a "Zero pressure tire warning" for the left front tire. BIG puncture. I call 911, and the cops take a report. They said they'd have a Detective out to the store. I called a few days later, and then they sent a Detective. At First, Targets' video person wasn't available. When they finally did let her screen the video, the quality was so Poor that she couldn't do anything. I realize that it's Not Target's problem that the area is becoming Ghetto, but they could at Least have parking lot cameras that work. I wasn't going to try to get the Lunatic's rear license plate number; getting shot does not sound like Fun. I will use the Bloomfield Hills, or another Target in the Future-Not THAT one. read more

I think this Target is one of the new concept stores because they have a layout like a department store--vignettes of furniture, home decor, etc in between the aisles, plus more targeted (no pun intended) displays of specific products (get that pay for play money, bullseye). It's kind of cool to walk through if you're browsing but I don't know how I feel about it as a shopper who might be looking for something specific. I'm a creature of habit so when they mess with my Target layouts I get a little antsy. Otherwise this store is just fine. Lots of stock. Seems pretty clean. Staff was helpful. I recently had to return something here and it was a pleasant experience. Also, IDK if they're new or not but a previous reviewer previously mentioned that they don't have self-check out. After checking on stock to see if they had a thermometer, and called to verify (and was told they have a few) - i drove out there (took me 15 min from the time i called), i get to target and they're out of the thermometer. In the meantime I thought I'd buy toilet paper for my mom and I (2 packages). Now, let me preface there were no signs saying one per customer or anything like that. I ring both up and go to pay at self checkout and one the employees as I'm about to pay tells "you can't do that." And I'm like what did I do wrong?! She takes a package out of my cart and tells me it's only one per customer. I then explain that my mother can't leave the house and needs some and she goes "yea everyone says that," meanwhile actually my mother can't leave the house. The customer next to me offers to buy the toilet paper for me and this target worker than yells at her telling her she can't do that to help me. She then has to nudge me out of the way to delete the package of toilet paper. I even offered to leave and come back to buy another pack, nope. Apparently That's illegal too. Mind you there are countless of people in target with filled carts of toilet paper packages -- and I'm there with 2?! What has this world come to?! Also, the whole point of the trip was to get a thermometer which they lied over the phone about having. This Target hasn't been open long, and fortunately has maintained the luster and appeal that new stores bring! It's neat and clean and they always have a great selection of the latest items. I can come here and find anything from greeting cards, to makeup, to clothing, to DVD's. The staff is friendly and will usually open a new lane when the store gets too crowded. The food court like area is clean and neat. There's also a Starbucks inside! When I need something fast, I hurry over to Target because I know they'll have it. read more

This target it just like many others. But seems to be very busy since it is centrally located on Southfield road. I had to run in here quickly to get a present for a friend and this store made it easy. The signs hanging from the ceiling directed me to exactly where I needed to go. This targets layout is definitely different than many other targets I have been to. So at first I was kind of confused, but eventually figured it out. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was only 4 or 5 registers opened. It wouldn't hurt to open a view more on probably one of their busiest days. A great bonus is the Starbucks inside the target! To me, if you've been to one Target, you've been to them all. This one is clean, always stocked with what I need and always have staff walking around to assist. I'm not sure if every Target sells groceries now but this one does. Every time I come here, I walk in, get my items and get out quick. The have self scan registers which is great for if you didn't go in for one thing and come out with a basket full like most Target go-ers do. I knocked of a star for the cafe and Starbucks area. The staff were bored teenagers that clearly didn't want to be at work. They had attitudes and acted as if serving me was irritating them. The slush/pop area was disgusting. It was extremely sticky from all the spilled drinks and smelled. You can tell it hasn't been cleaned in at least two days. read more

Yes, Virginia, I am reviewing a Target. So much of my shopping life revolves around the bullseye, I'm surprised they do not send me a Christmas card. Canadians understand this brand loyalty business. Target carries so much of what we spent time in four shops to find, and the variety of flavours, fragrances, colours, and sizes lures us in and keeps us. I've said moving back to the Great White North would be difficult only by leaving behind Target, Amazon Prime, and Trader Joe's. Not all Targets are created equal and the Michigan Targets in particular seem poor step-cousins to their Illinois and Colorado brethren. What do we have to do to earn a SuperTarget around here? Seriously, it's like Michigan lacks for the expanded versions of most chain stores for reasons I barely know. The Southfield Road stop lacks a definite something. Let's call it the parking situation. That lot is positively awful for a store with doors only on one side of the building. The confusing mishmash of handicapped spots makes for pedestrian chaos and horrible traffic. Half the people loitering in the handicapped spots merely do so to pick up their shopper somewhat close to the door instead of halfway to Farmington Hills on the northbound side of the lot. One skinny little roadway swings up to the side of the building, chronically congested by people pulling in and out, loitering with their turn signals on, and wreaking havoc with any modern proximity sensors on your car. Seriously, my new car squawks constantly about how close everyone else is. So drive to the far side of nowhere and hike through the wind or rain and snow to the front doors. By the time you reach it, you've probably acquired a two-inch deep crust of ice or melted three quarts of sweat off your limbs in the summer. But it helps because this Target has consistently the worst parking I've seen in my life. No one seems to go into stalls straight. They park crooked, like their '91 Pontiac really needs the premium space. I'll take the extra 25 meter dash to be mostly even. As for the store itself -- as you see I hate the parking lot completely -- it's oddly quite nice. They took a renovation before the Troy location, the busiest in Michigan. The home decor area in particular stands out for its pretty showcases and end capsules displaying the latest wares in tasteful lighting and arrangements. Kid's furniture also surpasses the Troy location for layout but that could be a function of better floor space or competing needs. Either way, I prefer walking around here in search of something particular than other Target housewares and home goods, simply because the layout is superior. Also, Southfield tends not to be so picked over for stock. They received the "A New Day" line in its completeness a week before any other Target, and I was happy to snap up some of those essentials teased on the website. Finding what you want, alas, is only half the battle. The other half will be checking out and this location, like Madison Heights, has the absolutely obnoxious 'double stacked' checkouts that invariably cause consumer confusion as people try to find their way to the checkout line. Hey, #2 and #4 have zero wait but the rest of us are queued up to 8 deep, and the dirty looks thrown when you move up to the second bank? Crazy. It's never //not// busy here, so expect this part to be painful. Half their conveyor belts lack the separators and never mind the belts breaking down. Ugh. VERDICT: 2 stars. Good selection when it works, too hard to get in and out in a timely fashion. Horrid parking lot! read more

DISCLAIMER: iheart Target so I'm very biased. It would be very hard for Target to do any wrong in my eyes (other than the overly " helpful" sales associates, but apparently some enjoy that kinda thing;-) Anyway, just have to announce that this location has a (Full???) grocer section now! I question myself on "full" because I doubt it has everything that a large grocery store may have, but it does atleast have the fruit, a few meats and a pretty decent frozen foods section. Hey, it's full to me! There are also a few other changes. The guest services areas has been moved :-( instead of being conveniently located off to the left as soon as you enter (as it previously was)' it is now squished within the regular check-out lanes. It's not as distinct as it was before and is not even really sectioned off from the start of the check-out lanes. Yeah, I don't like it there at all. However, that is probably my only gripe about this location. I also like that this location has side parking that is still convenient and close (and has a basket port :-) so that I don't have to walk 2 miles just because I choose not to park in the general lot! Another perk includes self-check out, super fast and convenient. As for the store it's self, it's pretty organized and I can usually find items here that I haven't seen at other Targets. Horrible experience in the women's fitting room. The woman managing the desk is unbelievably rude, and insinuated that I was in the dressing room too long and with too many items... yet she was not where to be found when I wanted to try on clothes. I opened the dressing room for her upon her comment "you've been in there an awful long time." Incredible. I am still so angry about this experience. When I opened the door for her after that initial rude comment, she proceeded to swiftly and forcefully grab items back from me and tell me I had too many items. I was practically nude, and she even went as far as to look me up and down and say, "and those clothes are yours?"... I have never felt so disrespected in my life. My husband and I spend so much money at Target. I am a professional woman who was looking for clothes to teach my Fall classes. Unfortunately I will be trying to avoid going there from now on. I was not satisfied with the "Sorry you experienced that" by the managers today. This woman cannot do this to another customer. It is unacceptable to be in a service position such as this. This is one of the best and nicest Targe't stores in Metro Detroit. Located on the edge of Southfield and Beverly Hills might have something to do with it. But what got me is the prices are much lower then the Target at Ford Rd and Greenfield. I think the reason for that is less shop lifting. Just saying. Anyway, love their new produce and meat section and of course the light weight shopping carts. The product selection is a lot healthier then the Target near my home in Farmington HIlls. For instance the Target by my house doesn't carry Almond or Soy milk which is strange. Go figure! I have frequent this store from day one and never had a bad experience with the friendly staff or finding what I need. Plus I love the fact that Target gives back to the communities they're in.
