It's more of a 3.5 and here's why- The store is huge with a grocery section, which is great in a pinch. Prices are high and selection tends to be bland. The layout of this store is confusing but that may be because of its size. The weirdest is the brightly colored cleaning supplies right across from the soda and pop... In the same aisle. Who in the WORLD thought that made sense??? With checkout- even on a slow morning, there's always a line. ALWAYS. I don't understand it. The express lanes are closed half the time and the cashiers need some new training on bagging. The last time I went, I left with 8 bags and when I reorganized before sticking it all in my trunk, i had 4 bags. What a waste of plastic bags! I come here out of necessity and wish this target worked better than it does. There's also only 2 or 3 carts available whenever I walk in, though the carts get brought in a bit later. Overall I like this Target. It's much better than the Walmart in the area but it has been going down in cleanliness and the prices for some food, especially fresh produce and now even meats is getting crazy. Hey, it's a Target. We've all been to Target stores all over the country, I'm sure. I've been going to this one since it opened. The 2018 remodel still has me baffled. I think they've crammed more merchandise in the store. Im always finding myself caught in a dead end or getting caught almost running into people. I don't really shop the grocery area, which is a good quarter of the store. Their grocery prices aren't all that great compared to other area stores. Welcome to super target, closes at 11pm at night, holler!! of course if you buy the RE(room essentials) items, they are cheaper. groceries here is not cheap, especially produce. if you return something at customer service, they asks if there is anything wrong with it. checkout people are not the most courteous. this store is also kind of hard to locate items. huge parking lot, all camera monitored. across the street from the mall. generall items are a couple center higher than walmart down the street. read more

Love this Target. They continue to clean carts and registers after each use. I'm happy they are staying cautious. One Saturday I walked out after getting a Starbucks drink and couldn't find my husband nor our car. My mind was a blank! The Starbucks girl who wipes the carts saw me scanning the parking lot while standing in front of the doors, she told me the direction my husband went (around side of building)! She saved the day!! I love Target stores & I'm glad there is one right by my favorite hang-out, Portillo's. If I have a few items that I realize I need, I have this Target store to stop by & get good prices/deals. It is one of the newer Target stores -- with groceries, produce, refrigerated items, etc. Which means, I may walk out with more than my original list. But I always feel their prices are better than most places. read more

Shop at this target on a regular bases not sure I continue asked for Paper bags and was told they did not have any so we left with Eight Plastic bags, not good for the environment. Overall, I like Target in general. I frequently shop this store and I am usually happy. However, this was not the case on the afternoon of August 24, 2014 in the phone center located in the store. I do not know the name of the man who waited on me because he was not wearing a nametag but when I described him I was told he was the department manager of the phone center. Still nobody seemed to know his name. All anybody knew was he replaced Howard. I was thoroughly disappointed with this shopping experience. To begin with Target's prices were the highest in the area. The man who waited on me knew absolutely nothing about phones. I asked him what he thought was the best phone in the store he said, "The Samsung S3" When I asked him why he thought that he said, "Because it has been out for a while and it is cheaper." I told him I wanted something more up to date and asked about the Samsung S5. He said he did not know much about it because it just came out and there were not any reviews for it yet. I asked him what he could tell me about the HTC M8. All he knew was that it had good speakers that were located on the front of the phone. He said they had live models if I wanted to try them out. I said I would like that. He took me over to where they were located. As he put it the HTC works but you can't see the screen because someone broke it. He pointed to the Samsung S5 and told me I could play with it and walked away -- no demonstration, no more assistance. I do not currently own a Smartphone and have just begun shopping and comparing them in anticipation of buying one in the next week or two. I do not consider myself to be very tech savvy but I knew more about these phones than he did. All I can say is I hope he is paying Target rent to stand there and take up space. If not, Target is losing money because of him. read more

PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE! My son with learning disabilities has worked as a cart attendant at the Target in Vernon Hills for almost 21 years. He started there as part of Mundelein High School's Learning Disability Program with a job coach that helped him to prepare for his new job. He showed up one day this past January to start his shift, and was pulled aside and told that he was terminated. He called me as soon as they had escorted him from the store, upset and not comprehending what he had done wrong. The only thing he understood was that someone on Target's management team told him that during the months of December 2019 and January 2020 he had missed too many days. When I called the main number and asked to speak to the manager to learn of the reasons for his termination, I was told that no one could speak to me because of HIPAA laws. My son and I showed up the following morning and someone briefly came out and spoke with us about my son having 4 no-shows in the two month period, and that this was the reason. Two of those days he had called in with the stomach flu, the third day I believe he did forget to call in. On that day, his grandmother, my mother, whom he was extremely close to, had been moved to hospice after breaking her hip and we were told she had only a few days to live. I tried to show this Target employee her funeral and obituary information to prove that this was the case, but he told me that the store was not involved and that I would have to take the matter up with Target corporate. When I called the corporate offices as instructed, no one would talk to us, and referred us back to the home store. The fourth day of absence that was in question involved them stating that he never showed up for a shift he had signed off to work for another employee. A supervisor named Sarah insists that he signed off to work for another employee one day in January and that he never showed up. My son states that he never signed off to work this shift and no documentation was ever given to us to support her claim. I have been advised by a friend's husband (a district manager at a competitor's store in another area) that a person with disabilities should have been helped through this process by HR personnel and written documentation should show that this did take place. We never received any paperwork of that kind. There are 60+ family members and friends no longer shopping at Target locations since this has occurred. read more

Either they do not know how to look for lost items, put them somewhere else then customer service. I am extremely upset and they could not help at all. Terrible since the remodel! Selection has decreased, which is probably deliberate since it's impossible to find anything. Departments scattered throughout the store making no sense. Shopping here makes me crabby and exhausted from walking the ENTIRE length of the store multiple times...which is the only way to find what I'm looking for. Also decreased the number of checkouts open. They are obviously trying to push everyone into the self checkout lanes, where ONE employee tried their to man. I shop Mariano's whenever I can. I used to love going to this Target but think it's really gone downhill in the past year or so. There's at least one out of stock item on my list every time I go. I've also found that many of the cashiers need some lessons in basic manners. A hello and a thank you seems warranted when I'm giving them my business, yet I'm usually the one saying thank you with little to no commentary back. And the thing that prompted me to write this review - was there yesterday, a good 15 hours after a snow storm, and the parking lot wasn't even plowed. Portillo's side was done reasonably well, but not Target's. I'm still in Target at least weekly but Mariano's is getting more and more of my business. read more

The people that can authorize discounts need better training. I asked for a discount on a storage ottoman that had a slightly bent leg. The person who had to come approve the discount did so but then proceeded to attempt to fix the leg, which only made it worse as he ended up cracking the entire wooden piece that held the leg secure and in place. He then looked at me and said you're not going to want this, well I did want it but now it's even more broken than before! read more

This location has adding and betting policy in there electronics section. They had samsung express prime 2 listed on the rack with a lock for 79.99 and when the guy rung it up he asked for 107.49. When I asked he is like they put the wrong tag on. But when I said I don't want it then he put it right back in the same place with the same wrong tag. Everything is picked over, the check out is always backed up with a ton of employees standing around, nothing is stocked ever, it's a complete mess with clothes all over the floor, not to mention 0-organization with random things out of place everywhere you look. This store needs a massive overhaul!!! Just because you are in a high traffic area, doesn't mean you don't lose your customers. I've talked to a lot of the moms and families in the area, and they all drive to buffalo grove just to shop at a better kept store. If you weren't so close, I'd probably never shop here. I hate Wal-Mart, and I'm ready to give them my business just to avoid the frustration I have literally 9 out of 10 times I walk in this store. If there was an option for 10 stars, this would be it! Friendly employees on the grocery side always asking if they can help you find something, free cookies for the kids at the bakery, and great prices! I do 95% of my grocery shopping here. Name-brand prices are less expensive than at Jewel or Dominicks. They also have lots of private labels, but if the Market Pantry black beans are $.69/can and the Jewel/Dominicks is $.99/can, which would you buy? You can also use a Target coupon and a manufacturer's coupon for the same item - who doesn't want to save extra money?!? The pharmacy people are very friendly and remember who you are. I love the color coding for the individual family members. The checkouts can be crazy at 5:30 on a weeknight, but there is usually a person patrolling the length of lines. If they get too harried, they are pretty quick to open other lanes. I love the in-store Starbucks and Pizza Hut, plus they are putting in a medical clinic. read more

Since the remodel it's been a little difficult to find what I'm looking for, but overall the quality of the store is still good. However, they're lacking when it comes to some clothes, and it's hard to find the right sizes or brands that I'm looking for. Also, for shirts without designs, options are very limited and should bed expanded. read more

It's a Super Target. You'll probably find anything you need or want from here. Prices aren't great compared to Walmart (which is down the street) or Aldi (which is a couple miles away). They have basically everything you can think of. Nice clean store. No complaints. read more

I love this store! Its clean, usually well stocked, and I can get most anything I need for the week in one location. Their prices are lower than almost any other major food chain in the area and while not quite as low as walmart for other stuff, it is a much more pleasant shopping experience. They have a starbucks, food court and are opening a health care clinic soon too. The employees are for the most part helpful and friendly. read more

This store is average. The selection is not as good as other targets in the area. The employees liters don't know the store well and will say they will help you but then never return. Clean, well stocked store with decent prices. Biggest issue is that their front lanes are always understaffed and you can hear the "lead" cashier always calling for "back-up". For as much money as this store makes it seems outrageous that they can't ever have the right amount of cashiers staffed, especially weekends. read more

The Bread Isle at Target is nice. Well lit and signage that you cannot miss. The isle are wide and they have a nice variety. Heart smart breads and other name brands. The bakery section is my favorite. Many specialty breads with a variety of types and tastes. read more

My boyfriend and I went into Super Target in Vernon Hills thus weekend and purchased a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, there was a hole in our plastic bag and the bottle shattered before we could even get it up to our apartment. Thinking that there was no way that the store management would honor a broken bottle of alcohol, I called the store and explained the situation. Not only was I immediately transferred to the retail manager on duty, Lisa, she was also kind enough to offer a replacement bottle as long as we brought the broken bottle in. She explained to me that once merchandize of this sort leaves the store, they are no longer responsible for it; however, she was understanding of the absolute horror of losing a decent bottle of wine. The fact that she was so accommodating, coupled with the great customer service we always receive at this Target, is the reason why we choose to return to this location and not the Mundelein Super Target. Not only will we continue to shop here, as it is clear that the management is willing to listen to customer concerns, I will also recommend this Target location to all of my friends and family in this area. read more

1 in 3 times that we have gone to this store we have been over charged. Last night was my last time. We had shirts for my husband and kids that were advertised in their flyer and at the store display I found them at as $10. The receipt I had contained a $22.99 charge on it for 1 package not $10. After a 20 minute wait in the store for a manage I was told they could take 10% off. WOw what a deal. I asked for a store manager and was told she was the one. When I called them on our way home, the actual store manager asked us to come back and he could PROBABLY fix it. Fix what my loss of 1 hour time to buy 3 packs of t-shirts and a box of crayons? I had 7 employees at least ask me the other day if I needed help and then one told me how to get a coupon for $10 off by texting a message to Target. Empty, dirty shelves at times, missing price tags on shelves as well as hard to find team member when you need assistance. 2 weeks ago I visited this store and purchased several iteams using both a gift card and cash. Today my boss asked for the receipt, which I had accidentally thrown away. I called the store and within 10 minutes they were able to locate the receipt, print another copy, and leave it with Guest Services so that I could pick it up. Great customer service! read more
