Been to this store several times. It seemed to me that the prices are higher than in stores outside of Brighton Beach.

I went here on the morning of 7/15 and purchased some chicken kiev, when I cut it open there was a piece of a pen with ink embedded in the chicken! I went back to the store to show them, they took some of the chicken back and blew it off like it was no big deal. They refused to provide any kind of compensation, they wouldn't even refund the inedible piece of chicken! Very unsafe practices. Avoid!! read more

I finally had a chance to visit, great butcher on the spot with great meat selection. Fresh made bread, tons of cooked food. Great selection and prices. The selection of prepared foods was huge and it was tasty. I still think that Net Cost on Ocean Ave is the gold standard when it comes to supermarkets, but Tashkent is very close. In a word: amazing! This rockery store has one of the best and affordable hot food options in the entire city. They have fresh and delicious hot plates by the pound which include some of my favorites: stuffed cabbage, pelmeni, manti, fried liver, lamb plov (this sells out fast), potatoes, and hundreds of other Eastern European deliciousness. They have a variety of cold options like caviar, cold cuts that can't be found anywhere else and cheeses. The bakery offers great bread sliced fresh, European cookies and a large variety of cakes sold whole and/or by the slice. They have a soup bar with 8-10 options of soups from Uzbekistan. They have a lot of juices, coffee, teas and a huge variety of other packaged items from Eastern Europe. Parking here is not easy. Public transport is easy. The B and the Q trains both stop at Brighton Beach which is right by this corner store. The cashiers are quick and even when there's a line, it moves very fast. Overall, for a European grocery experience with a large variety of hot and cold dishes that are not easy to find elsewhere, this place is a winner! Not to be missed!!! read more

Very unwelcoming staff in Tashkent Supermarket in Queens, Rego Park. They look at you and talk about you with each other in Russian so you could hear and all that talking about you staying in the store while you're buying things.. Things like: "Why so long..", etc. You are just trying to stack your stuff in the bag.. Is that a problem? You will never see these things in other stores, only in this store I noticed such unwelcoming, unprofessional talks. This staff have to be either changed or trained on customer satisfaction, and that's the advice for the management from a manager. read more

I felt like I was in a wonderland when I first walked in. I've never seen a grocery store's hot food section be filled with so many enticing, variegated options. Several types of fish, prepared a number of different ways (cured and arranged as a little rose, teriyaki, baked, etc) and a plethora of salad varieities that the generic kale bowls of Sweetgreen/Chopt have never ventured to. A really impressive and heartwarming mixture of authentic Mediterranean, Eastern European, Asian, and typical American choices, all served fresh with the ingredients clearly listed (reminiscent of the friendly tags of Trader Joe's in a way). There was an array of Russian pastries of all sorts of flavors that I never saw on any restaurant menu (everything from chicken to potato to pumpkin) that were incredible. I'm a bit of a phyllophile and their samsas had a nice sturdy shell of phyllo layers. The chicken samsa was moist on the inside and that semi-puffy interface between the shell and the filling was one of my favorite textures on my weekend trip. I explored the other nearby grocery stores (there seemed to be one on each adjacent block). This place's hot food section was definitely the most successful, as for the actual grocery section, other places had interesting snacks and preserved fish and such that were worth checking out as well. Finally -- though this place is always buzzing, the line is never slow. Much like Trader Joe's they have a infantry of over a dozen speedy cashiers and a guy flagging the next person in line to the right place. Somehow they know exactly what you got without needing labels (down to the flavor of the samsa I got!). Even though not everyone spoke very fluent English, and it was easy to get swept into their efficient cadence of working, it was still obvious that all the cashiers and employees were friendly and expert at their craft. read more

My mother bought two "fresh" Bronzino fish yesterday to cook at home. They were packaged in plastic. Upon opening the first one we noticed a rancid smell coming from it. The fish was not cleaned out properly and the guts were still inside rotting. The smell was unbearable. The second smelled only a little less. I tried calling the Tashkent supermarket numerous times and couldn't reach a single person or even leave a message due to the mailbox being full and then dropping my call. Came in to the store today and after explaining the situation I got called a liar by the manager because I didn't take the fish with a rotting stench into my car and drive it back to the store. I was airing out my kitchen for over two hours. I've been buying food here for a few years and will never be returning due to the way they speak to their customers. I hope you all inspect the food you buy here for your safety's sake. Would give this place no stars if I could. read more

Awesome Uzbeki supermarket with Russian and other Eastern European products, as well as amazing in-house made desserts and hot/cold food that is also open 24/7. Truly a gem when you're arriving home from a trip at 3am but don't want to eat overly processed junk food. The workers are great as well, always cleaning the food areas and clearing the baskets for you to provide efficient service. read more

One of my main go-to supermarket in the area. Especially for meats and prepared food. They have a large buffet of prepared food, pretty much all of which is excellent (e.g. korean carrots, various types of plov, and many other common eastern European dishes). The meats are particularly good here because they start from whole animal carcasses and prepare it onsite, and I've never had any issue with anything I've bought. However, while produce like fruit/veggies are solid, I've seen better elsewhere. The only main downsides are the place being a bit cramp (because it is popular) and the long line (but it usually goes quick). read more

Highly recommend this store for regular grocery shopping, as well as ready-to-eat food. I have shopped there many times, and the produce, as well as the cooked food are always fresh, delicious and at bargain prices. Attentive, polite and friendly staff. Almost every time I visited the store (at different hours of the day), I saw someone vacuuming and/or cleaning other areas of he store - they keep it neat! Also, recently I ordered food from them to serve at my birthday party. We had chicken and lamb kebobs, braised beef, vegetable dishes such as stuffed eggplant and sweets/dessert. All my guests were blown away by how soft and flavorful all the meats were, and the rest of the food was delicious as well. The chicken and lamb kebobs were super soft and moist (Better than Nargis, for those who know the place), and the braised beef was falling-apart-tender with amazing sauce and spices on top. I cannot praise the food enough. The process of ordering was seamless as well (special Thanks to Mirdan, who handled my order) and the price was very reasonable - I had enough food to feed 30 ppl (I only had 20 guest, but always over-order just in case) and the bill was under $300. This is what I bought on Christmas Eve. It is called Noodle with vegetables. They forgot to say it is also includes worms. Also the smell was so bad. When I brought it back on the next day the person who calls himself the owner was acting like I put the worms inside of the food on my own! Really???! He was so disrespectful and didn't want to give my money back because of my behaviour! Sorry that I paid for the warms and bothered you about that!!! It's Very authentic big super market and they have variety of food from Middle East at their food court Different types of plov, kebabs, fish , cold appetizers. They have got a lot of products imported from different countries. Pastries are always fresh and delicious. Place became our stop every time we are at the Brooklyn. The highlight at this place is their large hot food bar which focuses on both Russian and central Asian specialties. Get the Plov, a traditional Uzbek dish of rice pilaf with spiced lamb. They have several different varieties but lamb is best. Otherwise a pretty unremarkable and not very well organized supermarket. I usually come in here with the intention of buying something but am so overwhelmed by all the haphazard stacks and piles that I leave frustrated and empty handed. Prices are good and they do have a fresh butcher area in the back that looks legit. It's not for the faint of heart but if you need an entire baby lamb then this is your spot. read more

My family and I had been to this market many times and this is the first time I ran into such a rude cashier (06-Taia). As the line was long early noon and multiple cashiers wanted to hurry it up a bit more faster than the computer announcing system, naturally there was a bit of confusion. The original cashier (no 3/4) from the left who called to me got preoccupied by a returning customer so I had no choice but to move to the right or lose my place in line completely. This rude boy at station no 6 decided it was appropriate to question me if I was cutting (as if my bright red coat didn't already make it obvious I was among those in line), treating me as if I was lying because I was Asian (mostly everyone else was Russian who from my many times in the market actually do cut the line). Kindly retrain him, as he proceeded to end the encounter rudely ordering me to remove the basket for him - which from previous visits to the market NEVER happened. read more

The best store on Brighton. Very good kebabs,many,plov. My favorite is avocado guacamole and sumalak (which is what Uzbek people understand more). Honestly if I can give this place 150 stars I would. First of all, the place is spotless. I mean SO SPOTLESS that when I'm scooping hot food into my container and I drop a piece on the ledge, I will pick it up and still put it in my container. There is like 1500 employees here, or at least that's how i feel because no matter where you turn there's someone there to help you. Those 1500 employees will also help you above and beyond, from directing you to wherever you need, to packing the hot food into containers for you, and even holding your basket for you while you wait for a register to open up (which by the way LITERALLY takes no longer than 5 minutes no matter how long the line is). The quality of food here from the produce to the prepped food to the packaged goods is all ON POINT. beautifully presented. Makes you want to try stuff you haven't had before just because of how pretty it looks. The diversity of people shopping says a lot about the quality of this place. At any given moment it's always packed. And the amount of choices my god. The soups are just like my mom makes and anytime I'm too lazy to cook dinner but want homemade food without spending "take out money" I will take the drive out here. Very hit or miss place. Much the food doesn't taste good but has a good presentation. We tried them number of times and it feels like quality went downhill since opening. We had good luck with soup but most meat dishes were very disappointing. Additionally I feel the quality and lack of skill in preparation doesn't match the price premium that this place garners. There are many better alternatives on Brighton and surrounding area. I would not recommend them. read more
