I first learned of Tassinari PT a few years ago when asking a retired (and very knowledgeable) local PT who she would recommend in the PB area for an older person, as my mother had a problem arm for years that was not responding to the treatment she was getting. The retired PT gave me pros and cons of various places in the area, and said "There was a fantastic small practice with an unusual name, but I think they're retired." I said "Maybe Tassinari?, and I think they're still there" and she said, "That's it--absolutely go there if they'll take you. They're the best." And she was right. Marcia Tassinari quickly identified what was the issue with my mother, and that changed the future course of treatment to something that was far more relevant. And a while later I developed a serious health issue and have seen Rusty Tassinari who has helped me regain, improve and maintain my ability to walk. Both Marcia and Rusty are extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and caring Physical Therapists who provide 1:1 PT. A particular expertise and strength of both is working with people who are older and have age-related challenges, an often underserved group, and I believe they primarily serve people with Medicare. Marcia at Tassinari Physical Therapy is truly incredible. She studied my posture and how I move, and evaluated my painful problems and how that all relates. She looks at the body as a whole and how everything interrelates and effects everything else. My husband and I spend winters in San Diego and have received medical care when needed at Scripps. After suffering a back injury early this winter, my husband was referred by a Scripps orthopedic surgeon to physical therapist Marcia Tassinari. She was incredibly helpful to him and agreed to see me as well. I have had multiple spinal surgeries due to cervical spine damage and was practically chair-bound after the last surgery in November 2022. Marcia has given me new hope for recovery; she uses manual therapy to restore joint and soft tissue mobilty, along with exercises for neuromuscular re-education. In the six weeks I've seen her my strength, mobility, and endurance have improved remarkably. She also helped me locate a similarly trained therapist to see when I return to my home in Minnesota. Unfortunately, I have required the services of a physical therapist multiple times over the last 20 years...once for a frozen shoulder, once for meniscus surgery on my right knee and a third time for my knee as a result of a fall. In each case my care was 1st class. I can't recommend Tassinari Physical Therapy enough. The entire staff is highly skilled, kind, considerate and compassionate and I can't say enough good about both Rusty and Marcia Tassinari. Most importantly, they don't just give you exercises. They are all very knowledgeable and completely hands on only providing home exercises to supplement your care. The added plus is you actually enjoy your visits in spite of your pain because the entire team is extremely enjoyable to be around. I've just finished a course of PT on my knee with Rusty and, as usual, I feel that his hands-on one-on-one approach was key to my successful recovery. Without a doubt Rusty's experience as an athlete and athletic trainer specializing in helping runners avoid and recover from injuries was a great foundation for the excellent care he provides to his patients today. Many of us wind up needing physical therapy at one time or another, whether to rehab an injury or recover from surgery. I'd like to recommend Tassinari Physical Therapy, and Rusty Tassinari in particular, with whom I've worked to rehab my knees after surgery and feet from Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis. But everyone at Tassinari is terrific -- as well as kind and compassionate. I'm just finishing up a course of PT with Rusty for plantar fasciitis. What I like about the Tassinari approach is that it's very much hands-on, rather than machine-driven. All the therapists there work with you one-on-one, rather than handing you off to assistants. Following four knee surgeries, I've had both approaches. And I can tell you that Tassinari's hands-on approach works far better and recovery is far more rapid and enduring. All the therapists at Tassinari use one-on-one, hands-on methods. Rusty is also an athletic trainer and has coached both individuals and athletic teams, specializing in helping runners avoid and recover from injuries. I hope you don't need PT, but if you do, you can't do better than at Tassinari, located at 4747 Missouri Street, on the corner of Mission Boulevard, right in PB, with lots of free parking on site. I have been to Tassinari three times for knee PT following meniscus repair (many years ago), knee arthroscopic surgery, and knee replacement surgery. In between the first time, which I was happy with, and the second and third times, I went to another PT provider at the request of the doctor. I'm actually glad it happened that way because I appreciated even more the difference between a "mom and pop," aka Marcia and Rusty, and the more common corporate assembly line "big business" operations that are more common currently. At Tassinari you are with the same PT therapist for the whole hour as opposed to maybe getting an appointment with a consistent PT therapist, being handed off to PT techs/students who are usually attending to multiple people at the same time, and oftentimes waiting in line for the exercise machine on your predetermined list. Marcia Tassinari was great when I first inquired about getting PT there again -- I was relieved they were still up and running -- and helped me decide on a surgeon and fill out the necessary "new patient" paperwork required to begin the PT after surgery. She always returned phone calls promptly, answered a myriad of questions, and was very supportive. Rusty Tassinari was my PT therapist for my knee. He's the greatest! Rusty truly cares about his clients and is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced. He's a positive attitude guy who motivated me to follow his instructions and do my exercises. He is just one of the good guys and makes the world a better place. And my knee! I recommend Tassinari highly, obviously, and they will always be my number one choice! read more
