The food is average and the price is on the high side. Which are still ok with me if the service was good. We have used them for meetings in the past where Taste had simply delivered the food or we sent people to pick up. No additional service was rendered. Everything seemed to be fine and reliable although the food was only average. That's why I wanted to use them for my own private event. It turned out to be a disastrous experience - had no idea they would be so unprofessional as a full service caterer!! They actually backed out 10 days before my event because the owner, Mark, did not like my suggestions. Taste catered our wedding of about 250 guests in November and the food and service was great! Lisa was very helpful and organized and provided great customer service. The staff Scott, Matt, Pablo and Greg were really professional and friendly. We received many compliments on the food, and they were on time to set up for the recepetion. We served the skirt steak, chicken marsala, chicken tenders for the kids, sides consisted of roasted veggies, margarite pasta and creamed corn, and for salad we had the strawberry spinach salad and the cesar, EVERYTHING was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. On 6/10/11, I coordinated a business conference at the campus of the Fashion Institute of Design and Mechandising in Irvine. The conference had approximately 30 professionals from around the country. I am not overly familiar with the area so I searched on the Internet for a caterer that could provide breakfast and lunch. Fortunately, I came across Taste Catering. From my first phone call, they were helpful and very easy to work with. I was a little nervous using an unknown but found Taste Catering to be courteous, prompt and very professional. Everything was delivered as promised and on time. The food was very good. The portions were ample, it was well presented and the taste was delicious. For lunch, we ordered the chicken, beef, shrimp and vegetable kabobs with the rice and lentils, salad and hummas and pitas. I had numerous guests remark on how much they enjoyed the food- and this is a group of business professionals who get a lot of catered lunches! We gave the FIDM staff the leftovers and their coordinator asked for the caterer information since so many staff approached her. The PB and J cookies were the favorite on the dessert tray. I would recommend Taste Catering for business breakfasts and lunches. It is comperably priced to a large chain (ex. Panera or Corner Bakery) but much more creative and unexpected. read more

Taste Catering delivered for our family Boat Parade party last night. From the point of ordering, to the meal, everything was perfect and high quality. Delivery was on time, and he helped to set everything up. The food was incredible, our guests all raved even through the next day (I even had a nephew coming by to take some of our leftovers)! The feta/pesto puff pastries were a big hit, the Caesar salad was delicious (fabulous dressing) the bread and herbed butter isn't to be missed, and the margarita pasta and chicken piccata were out of this world. many of the pharmaceutical drug reps that come to our office use Taste to cater their lunches. we've been lucky enough to have tried a great selection of items from Taste. when it came time to plan our office party, we decided to take a page out of the drug reps' book and use them too. we put in a large order of food for about 30+ people. their website is extremely easy to navigate and understand, so choosing the items was super easy. we had the penne w/pesto cream, chicken picatta w/tomato, capers, and white wine, green beans, mashed potatoes, millionaire skirt steak, baby spinach salad, french baguette "basket" & butter, some cake platter, and the strawberry shortcake. everything was amazing and everyone was happy with the food! the penne w/pasta was cooked perfectly with a cheesy, pesto flavor. the skirt steak and chicken were both cooked surprisingly well, both were moist! the mashed potatoes had red potato skins and spinach in it. these were all new things for me. but the two must get items that we have gotten on several occasions are the Bread basket w/herbed butter and strawberry shortcake! the herbed butter they give you is amazing, herby, and slightly sweet. the strawberry shortcake is basically slices of gorgeous, smooth pound cake with this light, fluffy whipped cream with just a tad of sweetness, and fresh strawberries. other items we've had here that have been hits include all types of kebabs (chicken, beef), chicken parmesan w/marinara, chicken marsala,a teriyaki salmon, margarite pasta, basmati rice, coconut brown rice, etc...all the items seem fairly simple, but they are executed well. unfortunately i can't speak for any of the veggies/salad dishes because i avoid them, but i did hear positive things about the baby spinach salad which had strawberries and toasted almonds. the prices are really good and the portions are large. we always always have leftovers. EVERY TIME. another plus, they are extremely punctual. i've never witnessed them arriving late for any of our lunches. they were about 20 minutes early today. highly recommend them to cater your next event! read more

I came in here the other day after hearing extremely good reviews from my friends, specifically about the tacos. I LOVE tacos so I decided to order a couple. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the tacos. First of all, the tacos tasted like straight straight ASS. They tasted like what I imagine the liquid spewing from garbage trucks to taste like. But if you think that's the worst part- wait! There's more! A day later, I awoke to the worst stomach pains of my life. I decided to sleep it off but then awoke to explosive diarrhea. I swear on my life that shit was GNARLY, I felt my whole entire soul leave my body. I believe I had the shits about 10 times that day. I also begun to throw up- every single thing that I ate either came out of my asshole or my mouth. Karen and I work together to select the food for my budget and crowd, she has also been excellent in helping me plan the service staff needed for the relatively short eating time we have. The food is always delicious and our guests give us constant compliments! The servers set up gorgeous tables utilizing all our display/working areas.....always creative and they will add in some of the accessories I ask to use to embelish........they are wonderful!!! Taste catered our wedding and I cannot begin to express how fantastic they were. I chose them because I had attended events they catered at a local school. I knew their food was really good and was told they were really easy to work with, so I gave them a call. Starting 6 months before our event they were generous with tastings, meetings and answered every email of an overanxious bride and her mother promptly and cheerfully (Lisa is a star!). I felt calm as the wedding approached - which is saying a lot. Then the day came and we were truly blown away. Our event captain was Curtis who I never even realized was there because everything went like clockwork. The set up was smooth and easy - they provided the dance floor and all furniture for the outdoor event. The buffet was phenomenal - our guests are still raving about it. Drink service was excellent and they made the very simple linen service we chose look extremely elegant. They were flexible and helpful the whole night and their servers were outstanding. The food was incredibly tasty, a whole team advised us about best options, presentation was of very high quality. Their quote was extremely competitive. Then came the day in which they visited and checked out the space. Here, Jose and Carlos went beyond anything I could have expected. They were simply amazing. We talked about theme, colours, distribution of the space and floral arrangements. The D-day the whole team was here well in advance, ready for any eventuality, prepared for everything, clean and looking good. Service was OUTSTANDING, food was DELICIOUS, presentation was CLASSY and GORGEOUS! My guests were well feed, well served, and extremely impressed. Payment went without any hassle or problem. My only regret? Not having hired their services also for the bar section. It was the wrong decision. Next time I will just give them a call and ask them to take care of everything. Had Taste today for our Christmas lunch. Only giving it a 2 star because although the food was good (except one dish was too salty) the service was terrible. The delivery was 45 minutes late. I called when the delivery was 10 minutes late and was told the driver was 5 minutes away. 20 minutes later I called back, spoke to Karen who apologized and while I was on the phone had someone else call to see where the delivery person was. I had to give direction via Karen via whoever she was talking to who was talking to the driver. I told Karen Taste just delivered food to our building last week. She said the driver "is new". The driver finally arrived and was less than personable! We asked her if she is new and she said "no". She said they "just haven't delivered here in a year it two". Lie! The building was unoccupied last year and the year before! The driver also said she tried calling us and no one answered. Lie! When I was on the phone with Karen, she told me she would call me back after lunch. Never received a call from Karen! Needless to say our Christmas lunch was rushed and had a damper put on it! read more
