It's known for its diverse range of stores and products like clothing, cellular phone sales, repairs and accessories, jewelry store, toys, pearls, souvenir items, restaurants, bars, video arcades, religious facilities and the ever popular tiangge that sells imported and local products for bargain hunters. A lot has changed but it is still one of the most beloved malls in the country.

Restaurant row was more inviting with more sit down choices and better design. Security upon entrance was still the same. Large bags were inspected upon entry. The tiangge section (Shoppsville side) was untouched with rows and rows of stalls selling pearls, clothing, suitcases, shoes and more. Everything here can be haggled over. I was on the search for some local food items but the stall I sought out was closed for some reason. The chapel in the mall was still something unique to see but quite convenient to attend mass. The indoor garden across the way was updated and more inviting than I remember with more seating. Parking here has always been and will likely still be a challenge. Security guards still direct traffic but drop off areas by the mall entrances do get backed up frequently. Definitely enjoyed the shopping experience more than before.

I spent a lot of time here. As soon as you walk into the mall, it doesn't feel like you're in the Philippines anymore. The canal was nice to see during the day and at night. You can even take a gondola through the canal. They also have an area where you can feed pigeons seeds. They have a lot of the stores and the restaurants that we have in the US. I was joking around saying that I traveled 7200 miles to eat at a Denny's in the Philippines. Lol. And you know I had to hit up the Uniqlo here! Will I be back? Of course. Especially if I stay at the same Airbnb. I'll see you when I see you Venice Grand Canal Mall!

Encircling this mall are apartments, condos and office towers. The mall offers a lot: a supermarket; bookstores; fast food and casual dining restaurants; a multi-screen movie theater; spaces for dance and play--and a lot of retail shopping. You can also buy tickets for a gondola ride or rent a swan boat. This location provided an opportunity for me to people watch; examine products and brands unfamiliar to me; and to price compare goods in the PHL, versus back home. It was interesting.

I had the opportunity to visit this mall recently as my cousin took me here to get my hair done at her hair and makeup studio, Introspect which is located on one of the upper levels near the Fisher Department Store. I came here on a Thursday around lunch time and the mall wasn't as crowded as it was on the weekend, specifically on a Sunday. There are so many eateries here to choose from which also includes my cousin's restaurant, Hen Lin. I learned this mall went through a lot of reconstruction in order to have major food tenants occupy the area in addition to an updated galley food court. A mini park was also built beside the mall on Quezon Avenue, known as Fisher Parkway, which houses one of my favorite stores, Uniqlo. Fisher Mall has 5 floors + 3 levels for basement parking. We usually avoided parking in the basement and would park on the street, as this was the most convenient for us. This mall has a fresh seafood market in addition to tons of stores and venue stalls to shop from. Your options are endless here when it comes to food, shopping, activities and entertainment. They've got live entertainment, a cinema that offers online reservations and comfortable seating and even a place to gather and play Bingo! Their mall is also pet friendly with an elevator that actually says "Pet Friendly Elevator", lol. Overall, Fisher Mall is fairly clean with many affordable options to please your family's cravings and personal needs.

This isn't a seat - this is a freaking couch, and I love Fisher Mall for it. Aside from what's inside the cinemas, I also like how it looks from the outside. They intentionally made it look like some old theater from decades ago, with big wooden doors and posters of old movies. It's like old Broadway, and I think that adds to the experience.

They have different stores there; one is an art gallery, the other sells shoes, and the other sells antiques and old records/vinyls. There's also an art exhibit in one store. Not to forget is Bellini's, which is an Italian restaurant owned by an Italian and his Filipina wife. Before there was also Pop Culture where you can see a life size Astronaut greeting you at the door. This place has a rustic and old school vibe, and there are bars and food joint as well, such as Allan's Grill, and before there was Mogwai. Expect a Friday night at Expo to be jam packed, you'd see mostly college students and yuppies. The last time I was there I can hardly recognize anyone, makes me think I'm old. A bottle of beer costs around P50, and if you can't find any seats or table, then you shouldn't mind sitting near the gutter or just stand up. It's very laid back there so I won't advice you to be wearing your heels. Only in Cubao Expo would you see musicians in one corner, jamming good songs, and friends on the other corner drinking Red Horse. It's a mix of all sorts of people--artists, yuppies, homeboys and homegirls. I advice you to bring P300-P500 and that includes food and drinks. Going to Cubao Expo is an overall experience, a culture that would satisfy any artist's cravings for some good night. What are you waiting for? Invite your friends to chill at the Expo.

You would think that it's just some ordinary back water mall that doesn't have anything significant to offer. Well You'd be wrong. I was once in need of a particular piece for my desktop. Finding an extension cable with a signal booster for my receiver was quite a challenge. I thought I'd probably find one in some big fancy mall. Truth is, I found it somewhere else. I found it here. It just goes to show you that most of the places you'll find here might be modest or don't have a fancy or well established name, but it doesn't mean that you won't be able to find what you're looking for.

That being said, I don't have much experience in exploring the entire mall, save for maybe the two floors I've been to and the outside when I had to get to SM Cubao. I like the thrift store finds you can check out upstairs - they've got some okay shirts if you're not too hung up over top quality clothes, and there's a lot of food to buy on the way to the MRT, like Pizza Hut, Gonuts Donuts, Jollibee, and I usually get something to eat more often than not. The wet market outside is a bit more structured than most wet markets like the one in Pasig Palengke, and the prices are the same. There are a lot of stalls and I find the vendors are rather competitive here. The setup allows for a lot of open air, so it's not as stuffy as other markets. Some stores in the area are air conditioned, even. The dampa is an okay place to eat, too.
