IDK if we will even win our case -- although I'm very optimistic. My 29 year old son who has developmental delays and is on the autistic spectrum was recently disqualified for SSDI after having been receiving benefits for the past 8 years. I initially contacted Social Security requesting that his benefits switch from being drawn for my husband's SS to mine. Pretty simple, I figured. Well, that opened up a can of worms. I'll start by saying if you have a disability and cannot work because of it, I am truly sorry. I found myself in this position in 2018. After two years of physical therapy and surgical procedures, I realized I may never be my old self again, so I applied for social security disability (SSDI). Another two years pass along with two denials from social security and bills piling up, when a friend of mine recommended Hamilton 'Tate' Holt. I had been postponing hiring an attorney because I thought who could possibly know my case better than myself. I had debated with myself for a long while about hiring an attorney or attempting to apply for SSDI on my own. After some research online, I found Hamilton "Tate" Holt IV and his law firm, Bay Area Disability, which is local to me, and jotted down his number. I was still employed at the time and being fairly unclear how the whole SSDI thing worked, but knowing eventually I would need it, I reached out to him and left a phone message at his office. He immediately called me back and we had a discussion about my situation. He was very attentive, asked lots of questions and knowledgeably explained in detail how the process works. Tate spent a very generous amount of time with me fully knowing I was not a client and was not going to be one for some time as I was still working. Fast forward a few years. I reached out to him and again he was very responsive to my call. I explained that we had talked a few years back and I had now stopped working and it was time to apply for SSDI.
